I have been playing Warhammer 40k for 3 years now and it's really fun and I enjoy it a lot. I was wondering if they permanetely cancelled all the Gt's and stuff?

My uncle was going to take me but he heard the news and was not very happy when he heard the news i was looking forward to going aswell but now it canceled!

Not only did GW cancel all the U.S. GT's...I hear they have made threats to pull all prize support to a lot of independent tourneys ( Adepticon, Necronomicon etc.) if the organizers allow non GW games...

Look at the last minute change in the "guest of honor" at Adepticon. I heard the reason Alessio got pulled at the last minute was GW's way of "sending a message" to the organizers about the inclusion of some new (non-GW) game systems. So,everybody who went to Adepticon,I bet you didn't think that "Grunt APE 2" fig was such a big deal when you first got it huh?

See if GW starts geting that way its just going to 1- cause people to stop playing their game, & 2 - affect decisions to buy GW stuff for people who do continue to play.

I do love the game, but if they are gonna start pulling this kinda crap I can always build my armys out of miniatures by other companys.

i mean if they are pulling the tournys in the usa why care whether i use gw minis or not?

From what I hear,GW "restructured" the company,and after the dust had settled the team that oganized the GT's went from about thirity people to around five. At least they are still having Games Day...but I'm with you on using only GW minis in my army,and I have to say that Ultraforge make a hell of a good product.

So why arent you still going to Vegas? There is so much to do there and its so much fun. To stop going because you cant play some 40k seems silly.

I can understand the argument that you wanted to play in the GT, but to say it has ruined your trip doesnt make any sense. You would probably enjoy Vegas more now.

Well, I guess the primary purpose of the trip was the GT. So everything else was to add to that.

Doubtful a wargammer/modeller going somewhere would enjoy themselves more now :-P

well, considering they lost money last year on baltimores gamesday, maybe they didnt want to take a chance? im not sure. my best friend owns a gaming shop (dicehead games) and his rep was talking to him about their financial trouble right now. they're not doing too well.

my best friend, and gamer for the last 15 years. now sure how far its spread. this is all coming from his american rep. thats one of the reasons their was no lizardman army deal, money. the last ones didnt sell well either so they chose not to take the hit. again, this is all second hand information from this rep, but baltimore games day last year was horrible

Being a very long time follower of GW, I have heard this sort of rumour a lot. It has been constantly cropping up, even during the boom years.

Of course given the global concern it is probably more true now than ever. However, they should realistically be far from bankruptcy. They might need to cut back a lot if things are bad, maybe become even a predominately mail order firm.

Haha nice rant, i agree... i live in the uk and was planing on flying back (im actually from connecticut) with a friend of mine for the tourny. And good choice on the eldar, im just starting up an old project of mine with a grav tank army, no saim hann crap, just some serpents and lots of avengers. Good luck.
