‘Oh Boy – This was the first album that I ever bought (at age 14t)! ‘Boogie with Canned Heat’ Music albums were SO Expensive in those days that kids had to be very discerning in what music they bought!! It was obvious to discerning music kids that Canned Heat continued the great Blues tradition:
Forget the lyrics. The music is warning of the revolution to come. If the elites knew what the music was saying, the music would be forbidden. Not that that would change anything.....
This is the greatest band ever. Saw the few surviving members in Brussels a few weeks before te Sunflower passed away. Gonna ask the classic 21 music station not to forget that the Bear left us 30 years ago this year. Love that man
La Grange and this sound like Boogie Chillin' by John Lee Hooker. Hooker sued ZZ Top and won. JLH collaborated with Canned Heat on a few things. JLH liked CH and they gave him the proper respect and recognition that he well deserved. ZZ Top didn't think that the took the song from Hooker but a Judge did! Blind Owl was a Blues scholar. Literally!
no,la grange sounds like this, the way this sounds like boogie chillun.it all comes from somewhere,at least kow something before sounding like an idiot
'take a mouth full of sugar - drink a bottle of turpentine' I remember those 'Heat' lyrics from the album. Summer of '68 driving from Ft. Knox to MN - death in the family - listening to 'Going Up the Country' on AM radio....
Funny how hearing a song from the past brings back memories - good or bad.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
such filthiness!! it's of a piece with "World's In A Tangle" on Future Blues, but this is just so RAW!!! Haven't heard this in 30 years, but every note came right back...thanks!!
@HideFromMaster you are lucky so far that is..they took mine entire video down automatically because of copywrite infringement. One day here..next time gone.
THIS IS FUCKING BRILLIANT. PERIOD. And you, people, cut the comments like "today's music is crap" or "I wish I lived in 60's". Makes me sick. I live here and now and I'm so fucking glad that I can experience music of all past decades just to appreciate bands like Canned Heat more and more everyday.
so many people look back onto this and realize that our generation (the kids of today) is just publishing crap. isn't it time to turn the tables, get together, getting some solidarity and creativity into all of this, take example on it? i mean it's sad to listen to something that's not part of your time... i'm in love with the 60s and 70s and it makes me sad because it's over. so let's get something started that we can be proud of! let's make something worthwhile of our youth!
This was the main course in 1965. On the road again was just the dessert. So called classic rock radio would have you believe this never existed. Boogie on children and I ain't talkin' Bee Gees and zoot suits!
All in all, let's appreciate them all for giving us some of the greatest leg shaking music ever, because they will never be duplicated. As vendetta says, the new generation's music is mostly autotune prepackaged corporate crap that they use to brainwash kids into thinking it's COOL. These guys were genuine - let's enjoy their legacy
Some facts here folks: #1 John Lee Hooker is the father of boogie blues. #2 John Lee and Canned Heat recorded one of the greatest boogie blues albums ever - check out "Hooker n Heat" 1971 release, a treasure in itself, in particular the last track "Boogie Chillen No.2 , so Canned Heat were honoring their mentor in their music; #3 ZZ Top, who are a great band btw, did La Grange on the "Tres Hombres" album in 1973.
@exposfan77 - You are correct the "Hooker-n-Heat" album is perhaps the greatest boogie album ever made - "Let that boy boogie woogie it's in him and it's got to come out" - Juiceman
" Yeah Baby", and we are going to do it just like this 'all night long'! Just a 'little-quote' from "my main man, Big Bob Hite" when he was "live and in living color"! 'And don't forget to boogie, boogie, boogie'!!!
at 4:32 on video, the SUNFLOWER comes into being...oh lordy lord...buzz a little bit for us Henry...a transendant experience for a 13 year old wanna be a guitar player kid...
