  • I saw Human League live last year! They are soooo wonderful and experienced. They owned the stage!

  • omg VHS WOBBLE!! love it!!!

  • Is it me, or did music just start going shite after 1979?

  • They did an outdoor concert at our town, I was 15 again, he sounds exactly the same!

  • pure class

  • i fancied all three out in the front;)

  • Thanks for posting im a child of this era, Very kool and ahead of its time

  • very good

  • Non saprei dire quanto mi attiri Philip...w esso!!!

  • As I watch Phil, I think of the lead singer from She Wants Revenge. I wonder how much Phil influenced him?

  • @BlameGame23 When I see Emo Kids I think of the Human League.

  • RIP VHS quality

  • Those women are hot!

  • It's funny to think , multi-coloured swapshop, so this was considered "kids" music back in the day. I liked it and I was about 11 years old at the time. My how things change...

  • Man those gurls are FINE FINE FINE

  • I don't what is better, the fact it's a clip of a pop performance on The Multi-Coloured Swap Shop OR It's the Human League that's performing/miming...

  • easily the best human league track..... everything came together ..the synth break is a master class in understated pop!

  • Someone knows the System 700! I can wank myself to death knowing i'm not alone..

  • holy shit System-700!!!

  • He looks like Marilyn Manson.

  • THE HAIRDO....ITS AN HARDCORE RAPE..I USED TO WARE IT..HAHAHAHAHA JUST LOOKED SILLY I GUESS...(WELL AT LEAST IT MADE MY MOTHER AND AUNT LAUGHING)

  • aw man he's HOT!

  • hot chicks!

  • Jo Callis here is "playing" a Roland SH-2000, nice synth. Was it the one used on the real track?!

  • @LiveSteamMad probably .martin rushent did a hell of a lot of layering sounds on this album

  • lol 0:09 "You might as werererererereell"

  • great, saw them back in the day. a good live act also !

  • The blond girl is still looking good today.

  • Me And My friend Gill were always Mistaken for these two we used to dress the same and Possibly look the same the Attention to 2 single ladies was GREAT LOL

  • Damn i was about 11 when this came out and finding these old Human League toonz is just QUALITY!!! thanks!! <3

  • classic :)

  • I once heard Susan described as a demented octopus with rhythm but poor Joanne struggles with keeping her dancing in time with the beat. She always has. Still a fun group to listen to and watch though. I'm glad you shared this performance.

  • Great memory vessel

  • SYSEM700!!!

  • @tatsuyatomidokoro with a T

  • His hairstyle looks like the right side of his head just took a shit over the side of his face.

  • @funkmike stupid comment skunkmike

  • Those girls and Phil were the inspiration to a few of my hairstyles back then!!!

  • Amazing what happens when you add to young woment to a band!

  • Sheer Timeless Genius!

  • Took a girl to see them in 81 at Bradford... I'm sorry to say i couldn't take my eyes off Susans hot pants & bouncing tits.. Ahhh.. mammaries..

  • I love the tape errors :)

  • don't we all :)

  • sill wont action my lov

  • his love isnt in actioned

  • I LOVE HUMAN LEAGUE!!!

  • Cancion cuyo video al inico està incompleto pore completo el video

  • British women are the most beautifull creatures in the world.

  • @waninghope well the one in black at the center is not a woman , ok? hehhehe

  • @waninghope

nice comment but a little far fetched I reckon

  • unsophisticated dancing but executed in a very cool way

  • anyoneknow what synth is used for the intro sound? ARP?

  • @waheex: From the "Dare" album notes: Roland System 700 modular, Jupiter 4, Korg 770, Korg Delta, Yamaha CS15, Casio VLT1, Casio M10 and Linn LM1 for drums. Roland MC8 used as sequencer...anybodys guess which was used for what

  • @waheex The Human League didn't use any ARPs on Dare. I suspect the Roland System 700 was used for the 'meow' sound as it was a very powerful modular synth with huge modulation capabilities.

  • HE HAD SO MANY DIFFERENT LOOKS

  • phil is so freakin hot with an amazing voice, any ripping is due to jealousy

  • argue as much as u want... the sum of the parts!! .. total together brill

  • Wow, hard to believe this song is almost 30 yrs old.... Still sounds fresh and makes you wannna get up and dance!!! 80's music was the best!!!

  • Jo and Su were so darn sexy when they danced eh?

  • I used to date a girl with the same hairstyle.

  • As much as I love the human league, Phil Oakey has very little talent. The girls have none. Martin Rushent basically wrote DARE , taking all their little weird synth doodlings and crafting it into pure pop. It was a great album. Look at the shit they came out with after it when he wasnt there. Dare was a great moment in pop history. Travelouge and reproduction are great albums also but in different ways.

  • ARP 2600??? ;)

  • haha those chicks dancing are fat now

  • @tan94319 I've seen The Human League three times within the last year, Susan is a skinny as a rake and Jo is just a little bit plump!

  • this band ,Devo, Gary Newman were the defination of new Wave.

  • love you phil!!!!!

  • One of the front runners of electro pop. The Human League have never failed to produce excellent quality music!! I miss the 80's!! It was a time where you could wear what you wanted and nobody gave a dam!!!

  • so true....

  • 20 million records sold worldwide......................long live the Human League!

  • so cool

  • Why is it an issue? Are some still living in the past, relishing over Solid Gold issues? Are they expecting all their icons to be like someone else? If they want choreography then go watch Britney, Janet, Paula, Gaga, etc. I don't see people get upset when the Bee Gees don't dance like John Travolta. Or the other big synth pop band Depeche Mode don't dance! Whats appealing is the girls dance like the majority of folks. They're just bopping to the beat. Like millions who dance in niteclubs!

  • From the time when Britain set the trends in music and fashion..

  • I love the girls!

  • bangers and mash?

  • i think the girls i doht remember their name dance awfully

  • "I believe in truth, though I lie a lot"

  • Best Synth and Bass line out of all their songs. At least I think so.

  • this whole album sounded great on vinyl.

  • AKA the singing shopgirls

  • These birds don't have an ounce of rhythm do they?

  • super cclassssssssssssse

  • Phil's got a cool voice, and this song is fantastic bliss man, but those birds look like they're having fits

  • These girls know how to dance!

  • @derpestarzt Thats how we danced in the 80's!! LOL

  • @blazer666del Yeh I was being serious! I think these 80's dances are nice, spontaneous, naive and feels like a true expression of the rhythm (or lack of it) of the individual.

  • @derpestarzt I couldn't put it better. Yes, that's part of the charm....this sort of gormless dancing instead of the rigid coreagraphed stuff that came in with Five Star. From the 60's to the 80's you would see this sort of dancing from the TOTP audiences too. I don't remember the 90's or the 2000's.

  • i love this song.

  • Best song of the 80's

  • Not just swap shop - Multi Coloured swap shop. Oh man i preferred those days.

  • girl on the right has zero rhythm

  • The gorgeous Jo Catherall????

Maybe rhythmically challenged but HOT! ;))

  • plain Jane at best

  • I love Phil's hairdo

  • The Girls Are Hot!

  • The best comb over in the business! He made it a fashionable look and the bugger was going bald! LMAO!

  • love the barnet phil!!

  • These girls dance like grandmothers in a geriatric ward.

  • Do they?

  • @malangmann Just coz they're dancing spontaneously and not giving a fuck about whether or not you are getting an erection doesn't mean they are dancing like geriatrics. I rather have that than a self-concious self-loving whore dancing like a slut . 90% of girls dance like that these days in the pubs, you can catch them looking around in the corner of the eye like wondering "Is every cock in the room looking at me yet, is it??".

  • Comment removed

  • @malangmann You could say that I used bad language but why do you think I'm angry?? to answer your question, which pub do I go to, many pubs in different countries where I have in lived the past 5 years. Maybe girls are more shy in Brazil? lol I don't think so, maybe you do hang out in a geriatric residence usually.

  • Comment removed

  • @malangmann So for what you are telling me it seems the only way you could think these girls wouldn't be dancing like geriatrics would be if they were in bikini booty dancing in your lap, am I right? you seedy old man!

  • Comment removed

  • @malangmann Lesbian geriatric? why do you have to bring homophobia into this conversation? you have some tolerance issues. Also let me tell you this: Tango=Shit, from Colombia, Cumbia=Shit (they have great coke though), forro= more shit. You can't expect English ladies to dance like they are desperate to mate with older economically comfortable foreign men, cos that's what you get in South America.

  • it was 81, i was and still are a big fan

  • This couldn't have been 1981. He had this hair style much later.

  • Comment removed

  • @weirdscience85 Wrong; when "Dont you want me" was very successful in the USA, "Love Action" was released after it. A video was required for the US market, which is why Phil has short hair in the video; it was shot in 1982 by which time his hair was short.

  • @ralucagymnast- Ahh, makes sense

  • I miss those soft, leggy, slim-hipped, busty English girls from my youth. Like a young QE II ... or Diana before the bulimia. How come no young women look like this anymore? You birds should start eating your bangers and mash again!

  • Bangers n' Mash? You'll be mentioning tea and crumpets next. That ain't reality, my friend.

  • Adm. B.s.: Don't they make tongues that can fit into cheeks in the UK? That overbrewed tea with the oil slick on top is the absolute worst, btw.

  • @nauort23 or maybe your going blind with old age

  • @nauort23

Funny comment! I agree women back then were WAY sexier than they are now. Ladies today don't look healthy to me. BTW what's a banger and what's mash,LOL!

  • @n8tureboy sausage and mashed potatoes...

  • @n8tureboy

Thank you sir! Now I'm hungry. Think I'll go out for some spud's and suds.

    N8.

  • @n8tureboy heh heh thanks for the laugh "what's a banger and what's mash"!! i needed something to kill my sad mood :)

  • @boy5274 cheer up mate its mashed potatoes and sausages (usally with gravy and onions) A great british dish

  • @boy5274

LOL! No problem, I'm always good for a laugh or two. I kinda' thought that mash may be potatoes, or perhaps sour-mash whiskey?, But the bangers I had no clue on at all? Love them Brits! Oh yea, Thank you British for all that fine New-Wave music, absolutely love it!

  • @nauort23 Tons of young women look like this now, they're mexican, black, asian, etc hahah. Somewhere along the line white girls got the notion that they should look like 8 year old boys.

  • @ChristopherJacques

I blame that on this ridiculous "image industry" called professional modeling and entertainment business.

I'll take those beauties from the 80's any day over these skin-n-bones waifs that look like they've been flattened by a steam roller! I like ladies with curves and personality, not necessarily in that order. I feel for these young women today...break the spell girls, and start eating some food for crying out loud.

  • @nauort23 I look like this, glamourous with big hips, I can't stand these Lo-han waifs of my generation!

  • @nauort23 lol theve either got ale guts ,tattoos and are pissed half the time , and thats just the 14 year olds lol .

  • @nauort23 mcdonalds, burgerking and kfc is where it all went wrong1 thank you america!

    yum,yum lol

  • @nauort23

yes... and some of those nice pies that mum used to pick up when we went to the ice rink.

  • @nauort23 I'm busty and round!!...........just not young anymore :(

  • Human League just signed to UK recording label Wall of Sound! New material (songs, videos, album) expected in 2010!!!!

  • Excellent! Can't wait!

  • One of my fave Human League tracks. Phil is reminding me of an ancient Egyptian prince here, with the eyeliner and the one sided hair. I love that haircut!

  • He reminds me of a lady. LMAO.

  • They don't make them like this anymore

    -

Simon Callow et al have seen to that!

  • what has poor simon callow the great sheaksprien actor done... oh you mean COWELL.

  • That's a fantastic haircut.

  • now thats what i call dancing :-)

  • WE love this! x.

  • What a perfect song!

    =)

  • thanks to the human league youre music is fantastic and has given me so many happy moments and memories.

  • Phil Oakey looks like he made his hair up for wearing one of those joke costumes where he becomes half-man, half-woman and if he flips his head and body around, he changes from one to the other!

But undeniably a great track from some guys who dared to go all-synth.

  • Does the blonde one move so sensually in bed? Or is the discrete brunette one more sensual ???

  • THANK YOU ever so much for posting this, warts and all. This brings back very many fond memories...I LOVE HUMAN LEAGUE!!!

  • JUST TOO GOOD, love the base beat, crazy dancing girls, backing singing is cool, everything proper 80s style, CLASS!!

  • Oooh he's just too pretty for his own good

  • phill is a always amart dresser!!

  • I was looking through some CDs in HMV in Sheffield's Meadowhall centre about 15 years ago. Who should be stood next to me, but Phil Oakey! You cuda knocked me down with a feather.

  • when your in love, your in love, no matter what you try to do. ---so true--nice tune.

  • i saw human league live in 2007 and they havnt changed a bit. apart from being over 20 years older, they sound just the same. fab concert.

  • Oooeee, Phil really had the lop-sided hair thing happening here ! He's sexy but !

This performance is great - and the girls actually get physical, bopping about !

  • Great music, that girls are beautiful!!

    80's Forever!

  • Look at those girls shake it...feelin that beat..makes me want to dance.

  • phil oakey is a sexgod, i wish english guys looked like that now , i guess they are too wimpy to do anything individual now , just followers.

  • Don't rip on Phil. For one, the guy is a fucking genius. Beyond that, you've gotta have alot of balls to pull that look off.

  • True true. Especially in Sheffield at the time! It wasn't the Kings Road Chelsea was it.

  • @bpoag i totally agree with your comment/reply. He had major confidence to pull off his look back in the 80's .

  • @bpoag LOVE YOUR REPLY

  • @bpoag Forget the hair, just listen to the music, but I must admit he almost look Marilyn Manson.

It wasn't his fault. It was his hair stylist when he asked for the "baddest" hair of the time. Something along those lines from his interview. Hope my parroting helps.

  • what would the 80's have been with out the electric keyboard

  • Comment removed

  • I dont know what that blonde chics name is and dont give a dam i just would fuck her!

  • Phil, you MUST give me the address of your hairdresser!

  • Susanne Sulley is still a total blonde barbie at 46. She might look a bit older, but she has the same figure today. Go on her website if you dont believe it!!

  • Shows how much you know , blonde Susan Sulley has exactly the same figure now

  • i wouldnt say exactly

  • oh and your body hasnt changed at all in the last 25 /30 years!

  • im not that old

  • This is so brilliant and so genius that it brings a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. before the world turned into one long nauseating hiphop porn video. Im so glad Im not a kid in this day and age where 5 year olds think that jenna Jameson or godknowshowmanyothers is what they should idolize.

  • Too bloody right! Im sick of all this pain in the arse rap stuff i grew up in the 90s but when it comes to popular music i prefer 80s stuff cause its way better than any of the shite u get in the 90s or the utter pish you get these days - souja boy...PAH!! i wouldnt piss on them if they were on fire!

  • Love the Dare album, saw them live - awful.

  • Saw them live last week .. they rocked!

  • I've seen clips of live performances and they were great - I caught them on a bad day with very poor sound.

  • love the glam rock look.....cu guys @ billboard tonight

  • love that glam rock look.......great sound also....cu guys tonight at billboard.

  • All time favourite!!!!!

  • has anyone noticec the MONSTROUS modular synth at the back?

  • Yeah...sadly keyboard dude forgot the Patch Cables ;)

  • Hmmm...could be a Roland System 700. Then it could be played without Patch Cords....;) Anyway...Great synth!
