I'd never noticed before, at the graveyard Collins is holding the drumsticks. Angel and Collins are one of the most beautiful, romantic couples ever in any film, book or musical. Such a gorgeous and sad scene.

The director (Chris Columbus) didn't want to take it out, but he felt it worked better without it, mostly due to the fact that the whole film Roger & Mark have lots of conversations that involve talking, but this is the first scene where they are singing a conversation.

They tested the film with this scene intact & they noted that the audiences began to lose interest.

Personally I love this scene/song & feel it fleshes out the story a bit more.

One things that's always confused me, this section of the song:

There's no denying that all the other characters are very much against Benny. But if you watch some of the removed scenes from the movie, you can see that Benny has more of a heart than they presented in the edited version.

It makes me kind of sad actually, because he actually isn't all that bad.

i think they didnt add the end because mark/rodger had been speaking to each other the whole way through [which would have been sung in the musical] and to have them exchanging in song would have been a bit strange compared to the restof the film

That's not even true because they sang in the title song. It's a musical. No one even noticed that they were randomly singing to each other and they sing together and at each other at the end of what you own.

That's just one of the excuses they used and the other one was that it would be to draining or something and no one would be affected by the ending.

There were many directorial failures in this movie. Cutting this song in half is one of the obvious ones. It's a decent enough movie, but that's only because it's based on something outstanding. Shame the movie doesn't do justice to this amazing amazing amazing musical.

You get "Goodbye Love" as one song when you buy it. It has the first part at Angel's funeral and the mark/rodger/mimi conflict part. It's a deleted scene in the movie, like the song Halloween, which you can also buy =)
