The fact that you actually found an actor who not only bares a rather remarkable resemblance to the young Orson Wells, but also is a pretty damn good character actor as well, is amazing. Nice work.
I agree with MultipleSocket- i thoroughly enjoyed every moment of that- suspension of disbelief, tense saturated atmoshphere, aesthetics, cinematography, the actors... all in all a very rounded execution that fitted perfectly into the time frame. Your ambition carried well within the budget and i was never put off by the "student film" element which can often affect viewing pleasure..
Nice film with a lot of ambition. I really appreciate the location, the isolated radio station and the meeting of great minds. It's too bad that they have so little to say to each other. I do appreciate the arrival of the flying saucer but this should be the spark of a great exchange between two great minds. Evidently, there is a conflict between the two, how do they come together. If you are into filmmaking, check out my profile, I have an invitation for you.
haha, the worst actors I've seen in a looooonge time. but I sort of digg it, gives me that old school "some like it hot" horrible acting feel..."WOW! diamonds, they must be worth their weigth in gold(...)"
Fuhmeregan, clearly you did not go to VFS, and clearly you do not understand the kind of talent and effort that went into this. You can't really talk unless you've worked on a drama short like this, because you don't get it.
retard canadians - are none of these vignettes even mildly talented? vancouver has special effects graphics equipement - but NO talent whatsoever, boring, stupid, paki's (blech!!! lol.
fuheregan i really don't think that u could do much better and if u r an actual film maker and u can do better then don't criticize unless u have some constructive criticism and maybe i don't know try and be less of a jerk off.
if u don't know how to do that it would look something like this: i though the story line had potential and there was some good moments, it was written well and over all i did like it, but the problem was the acting, the line delivery wasn't natural and seemed phony.
yeah their voices did have an indoor reverbation to it....that's either because it was filmed in a studio and nothing was done to their voices afterwards, or a reverb was added to their voice but it wasn't a proper, outdoor sounding reverb.
Very cool, I know I can't wait to go to film school and be able to direct my own awesome short. The only criticism I have is when Orson starts speaking to the saucer, which you pulled off beautifully, the amount of cuts, in my opinion, lessened the dramatic atmosphere, but at the same time I guess you had to have it a certain time in order for it to be screened... Other than that though, all I have to say is rock on, excellent work!
Good concept and well shot - but the sub par acting sort of took me out of the movie a bit, instead of coming together to serve the story. I Find this with a lot of student films.
Just by way of a positive suggestion, a softer focus could have been employed to realize the impact you were shooting for. Similarly for the audio track.
I really liked this!! Spookey or what! Shouldn't have watched it in the middle of the night.. I also liked the feeling of an old movie during the beginning and end titles. The music was a perfect complement.

When Orson Welles perfomed War of The Worlds on the radio in 1938, it caused mass hysteria in the UK and in the US

when they were outside you could hear the echo of them speaking so I had the impression that they were still in a room
