AUSTRALIAN LICENSING.

120 hours on learners permit SUPERVISED by a full license holder

then take a test with an instructor.

THEN

red P-plates for 1 full year of driving *unsupervised*, computer test.

green P-plates for 2 years of driving *unsupervised* computer test

then full drivers license.

learners and p-platers cannot drive V8's or petrol turbo/supercharged cars.

all insurance premiums have been jacked up by about $1000 per year for under 25's.

I've got an idea, how about instead of demanding that all vehicles be made retard-proof, we just force people to pass some sort of DRIVERS TEST before allowing them to drive a vehicle... A computer program will never be able to help people out in a dangerous driving scenario as much as they can help themselves with a little practice. Learn how and when to react to these sorts of situations, that would save more lives than any level of computerized safety.

I know what your saying, but where I live you do need to learn to drive with a learners permit for atleast 6 months then pass a driver test before you a given a licence.

Although people negated your comment, it is true that people need to learn to drive and not think it is a right. It is, in fact, a skill and all the extra electronics do is give a false sense of security.

I agree, some stuff is just not needed. Like for example I've heard of benz putting a device that makes you wake up if your about to fall asleep :( Well it would be smarter and cheaper just to pull off somewhere and take a nap rather than risking your life and someone else. Also the whole rear view camera is great, but I could see some people just relying on it rather than physically checking, just IMO

omg, it looks so good in white!! i want mine to be white. you dont see so many in white, some of my friend's rx8s are in the typical silver, gray, blue, red, etc. but no yellows, idk why.... i guess ppl (in general) just dont want to pay the extra $200. =/ oh well, better for me, now itll be easier for me to find my car at the meets. =D

He didn't turn the DSC to the full off mode. thats done by pressing and holding the dsc button for 7 seconds and an icon pops up showing a car swerving.

Yes he did. When you hold it for 7 seconds that turns off the TC(traction control) not DSC(Dynamic Stability Control). It's 2 different things.
