The heater is run on oil, used to have one in my house as a kid. We always had a kettle on top, so whenever you needed hot water for something it was there.
@JulieDanney Looks like it might be from 1920's or later, based on interior door styles, cabinetry, etc. The little log structure is probably much older.

I think the stove was an oil burner. We had one similar to that when I was a kid. Used to scorch my socks on it. LOL.
