The only reason everyone knows the 351 Windsor as a Windsor was because there are 3 351's and the name Windsor was to differ it from the other 2, everyone knows that except you of course.   • Sorry to break it to you but there is a Windsor family and the 221,255, 260, 289, 302 and 351w all belong to the Windsor family, again Ford never classified their engines as small nor big block, they put them into families so you should do some more research like cannonfire suggested, go to wikipedia and type in ford windsor engine and read the link very carefully and stop being retarded as it clearly says it right there

  • @hpaddyh Here we have another ford know-it-all. All small blocks are know as "windsor" engines. The 351-W was based off the 302. Clevland was nowhere near race ready. Try reading some books on Ford V-8 engines & not listening to your friends who know nothing about cars yet play pac-man day n night!

  • @hpaddyh the 302 and 289 are all Windsors they are made in the Windsor motor plant thats y they are called Windsors. the 351 Cleveland is only a Cleveland bc its made in Cleveland ohio. the only difference between a Cleveland and a Windsor is the heads, the Cleveland has a better flowing head thats it.

  • A 302 is a Windsor sorry to say, yes the 351 is taller and wider but the 302 is part of the Windsor family and so is the 289, they may be 90 degree V-blocks but they belong to the Windsor family

  • @jrfreak56 it wasn't to bad probly took about 2 months of workin on the weekends and not really workin very fast on it but its gettin a 347 stroker motor put in it some time within the next year

  • I would like to clear everything up here if i could. Ford made engine families which were the Windsor family which consisted of the 289, 302, and 351 Windsor, so these are all considered Windsors. The 335 family which were the 351 Cleveland, 351 Modified and the 400. Than the FE (Ford-Edsel) there were quite a few in this series and than the 385 family which were the 429 and 460. So all in all the 302 is a Windsor

  • i made them i took some angle iron and made a box and welded it where i wanted the engine to set drilled a hole in the middle then i took the top mounts from the 1988 crown vic or you can buy some for like $100 but i didn't want to spend the money or wait on them

  • thats just a basic 302,,windsor never produced a 302 so it just has a dress up kit on it, but its not bad for a ford<:)

  • ALOT OF FABRICATION,and patience.. custom motor mounts and trans,crossmember, and a custom driveshaft. if your really looking for info, than MOOG makes a kit, its about $1300

  • or you can make the mounts yourslef and i used my old driveshaft back i spent 300 total and that was with a gasket kit just have to figure stuff out as you go

  • All box Panther chassis Fords (1979-1990 Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Towncars) used the 302 (except for the disastrous 255 up 'til '83) as the only engine option. EXCEPT for the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The 351W was optional up until '83, in 84 it became standard in all US PI cars, and was optional in Canada. So unless the guy got a P72 (Police InterceptorI) or it's a Canadian car with an optional 351W, it's a 302.

    To clarify:

    Civi Crown Vic: 302

    PI Crown Vic: 351

    I own a 1986 2.0 ranger regular cab short box. I love it to death! I was considering beefing up the 4 cylinder rather then dropping a small block in it due to the price of gas these days.

    Have you ever worked on the 2.0 engine before?

  • lol yea i threw it out the door lol no i got the truck for $100 it had a 2.0 with a blown head gasket and i could have fixed it for 50 but i heard of someone local who just drove there 1988 crown vic into a lake lol so they gave me the car for what ever i wanted and i pulled the engine rebuilt it and put it in total cost of the project for me was $300 but now probly 700 since i bout a 5 speed manual for it but i love it just gotta pay a little more for gas lol

  • Nice. I also got a 88 ranger that I plan on putting a 5.0 in at some time. check out my video if you want... its still got the stock 2.9 in it but I chopped the exhaust and made some modifications to it.
