grazyFR parkour and free running is the same thing its just that it was (as you maybe know) in france so they calle it parkour then it came to US and europe people started to call it free running instead.
parkour is running from point a to point b by using techniques to get over obsticles-free running is nearly the same, but the great difference is that you do tricks at free running-at parkour you don't do these because it isnt efficient

What do you mean? Parkour is just for fun. entertainment. though, there are tournaments now, it's a growing sport
