  • How is this a gangster movie? I like that movie but the people depicted here are rather demoralized working class kids. Waving a gun like an idiot doesn't make you a gangster. They don't steal, they don't rob, they don't murder... they just hang around getting drunk and smoking pot.

  • @1poiuztrewq2 go and look hollywood bullshit

  • @GANJAspezialist

I was responding to another comment fuckface. STFU!

  • @JOSHULAR You suck! Many many dicks i guess ;<

  • Magnifique!!!

  • great movie !!!

  • This movie could be a documentary of real life in France, Spain, Greece, in the year 2011.

  • 10 dislikers are Marine La Pen supporters!

  • @alextankian Hi, do you mind telling me who is Marine La Pen? And why you said that? Are they rivals in the movie making business or something?

  • @RockalilyDunne

La Pen is a far-right political party in France who oppose immigration and are basically racist. The three guys in this film are of an ethnic minority (Vince is Jewish, Hubert is black and Said is Muslim) and they make references to La Pen. Marine La Pen is La Pen's daughter who recently took over the political party.

They are bad people. They are racist fascists.

  • @alextankian oh I see, i never understood that reference in the film, untill now. Thanks!

  • @RockalilyDunne Just like alextankian already said, Marine Le Pen is Jean Marie Le Pen's daughter who shares the same extreme right ideas as her father. Now she took over the lead of the FN (front national) the National Front party wich is a bit too popular at the moment and she presented her at the Presidential Elections and she's having quite some votes. So, she's a racistn & facist woman who could be the next president... and that, we do not want.

  • @DC8370 I see... France has had some bad luck over the years when it come to politics, haven't you? well, what am I saying, Portugal might be worse. We are the ones who are going bankrupt right after Greece!

Thanks for explaining, by the way :)

  • @RockalilyDunne you're welcome ;D Grtz DC

  • Greece 2011...

  • whats la haine mean in english? the what?

  • brilliant movie.

  • Cannot believe this is Vincent Cassel. Wow. Major props.

  • le monde est a nous!

    vive "la haine"! superp movie!!!

great piece of time! Never seen a film like this again

  • I'm so glad that Saïd Taghmaoui got a role in LOST. he's a very talented actor!

  • Who'd think that the director of such a brillant film such as this would go onto to direct something as crap as babylon a.d. with vin diesel... such a shame.

  • @swissgreeting get "sheitan" , "irreversible"

Merci (:

  • @Liles1993 Hey dude, i'm french and i'm glad you liked the movie and respect for the vocabulary, you have a good french. You write better than some french people i know... Grtz DC

  • @DC8370 Thanks man, your English is great too! :)

  • @Liles1993 Good :p

  • I thought this movie was just known in France ... Apparently, it is an international film ... A film that reveal Vincent Cassel, too bad that Hollywood did not give him his chance

  • J'adore ce film!

  • The one of the main caracters (the one with the gun) looks like Vincent Cassel. Is it him or isn't he??

  • @SwissGreeting Yeah that is him alright

  • @kvaughn31 Thanks for answering. I found out myself as well... But he looks so yound in this film ('cause obviously he IS young, lol).. the last film I saw from him was "les rivières pourpres".

  • @SwissGreeting I know, it's crazy! I saw him in some French comedy news TV show recently, talking about random nonsense haha. It's cool that he didn't just disappear after a great performance in an independent film, like too many actors do. He grew into a handsome older man though ^^

  • @SwissGreeting I know, it's crazy! I saw him in some French comedy news TV show or something recently, talking about random nonsense ha. It's great that he didn't disappear after a great performance in an independent film, like too many actors do. He's grown into a handsome older man as well ^^

  • @kvaughn31 Yes. But although I don't know many films with him... Maybe there are some famous French films which aren't very famous in other countries... Don't know..

  • @SwissGreeting Yep, it's Vincent Cassel.

  • @LarkinDKourou Thanks. I found it myself as well.. :-) I thing I really like his films, they're always nice to watch...

  • @LarkinDKourou I mean "I found out myself"

  • One Of The Best Movie I Had Ever Seen^^

but the end was sooo... I cannot even describe it,

    a master piece

  • just saw the movie

i am still shock, such a master piece

    but the end ... damn

  • I absolutely hate the french language in school and I never thought I would give a movie that is in a different language a chance! but this is the one of my favourite movies right now!!

  • trailer looks shit but the movie is incredible i recommend this one. Its funny etc. and its sad.

  • its all about the landing...

  • Saw this film today and it utterly blew me away, perfection.

  • Jusqu'ici tout va bien, jusqu'ici tout va bien...

  • did you know alain juppe, the french prime minister at the time made his ministers watch the movie when it came out to make em understand what was happening in the suburbs of paris.... however the ministers as a sign of negligence, turned their back during the movie due to the bad image it gave cops.

  • I could be wrong, but this is real urban youth culture - as opposed to North America where people glorify coming from a ghetto. This could just be me; I grew up in one of the richest cities in Canada, and I saw too many rich white kids trying to be thugs; dealing drugs and starting shit; just to be cool. Then you see a movie like this; and you know if they were in a situation like that they would crack.

  • @zciweiksim Sadly, the "ghetto badass" ideal is as widespread among French teenagers than in the US. As with the US, however, most people eventually grow out of it.

  • My second favorite film of all time!! The first is GO a japanese film made in 2001

  • damm where can i dl this??

  • kultuszfilm

  • Jusqu'ici tout va bien.

  • this is a great film i would recommend to anyone. also if you like this film then i seriously recommend the italian film 'gomorrah' it's very similar and presented like a documentry and is about the mafia in the suburbs of naples, italy.

but overall ce film est fantastique! merci :)

  • this movie demands a higher level of maturity and not just stupid assholes who cant even realise what happens in this shitty world

  • the black and white screen hides the main meaning of the movie the white colour represents the rich and glamorous icon of paris and the black represents the hard life in the suburbs of paris there where the situation is very far from the chic icon that most people in the world have from Paris

  • Best movie ever

  • I loved the film

  • awesome movie

  • great movie!!

  • it`s a fucking world ! that`s real

  • @Calimobb909

It's not about gangsters, you dumbass. its about shitty life in suburbs, its not because the plot talk about a gun that they are gangsters. It's more a documentary than a movie, i'm french, i know how life is this situation.

  • @Kaanuy weaklings

  • @Kaanuy lol la banlieues

  • @Kaanuy

  • @Kaanuy

u are truly french, i ve met a million french people by now and they use the word shitty alllll the time. try fucked up(no offense) =)

  • @Kaanuy cartonne trop le film

  • @Kaanuy No youre azerbeidzjan.. Probably exploiting france, and when it goes less, have enough profit back to azerbeidzjan.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kaanuy Dumb-ass, what do you think that gangsta movies are about? They're about young males from disadvantaged minorities who live in the shittiest part of town and have little chance of getting out. The "suburbs" in France are the same as the inner city ghettos in America. This movie could have easily been called "Boyz-N-The Banlieue."

  • @Kaanuy Using language like this to try to "communicate" w/ someone online make YOU more of a :dumbass" than the person you failed to communicate w/ as an adult. In a real sense, there is a "gangster" element to the movie, even if it is only on the surface.

  • Respond to this video... It's such a take off on/rip off of 'Do the Right Thing'. it's blatant!

  • @Ldale11 Or, it could be based on the accidental death of a young rioter in Paris.

  • lmao, stupid

is there other movies in that style??

    mercci,,, thx

  • there is " ma 6t ca craquer"

  • hey

I'm from Greece and I saw the movie last night...

it's one of the best movies I've ever seen...

I love french cinema and this movie is a masterpiece

    respect

  • Ive saw it yesterday and i dont fought its that good!!!

    very realistic!!!

  • Is the film realistic or is the film too dramatic?

  • @Dmhamakzzz Quite realistic if you ask me. Maybe not enough. It reflects exactly the way to live of the majority of our generation here in projects in Paris, and its suburbs, and some towns'suburbs like Lyon and others.

  • It is good.

  • realistic..

  • @Dmhamakzzz its realistic!!!

  • le meilleur film!

  • amazing film

  • Love it <3

  • One of the best and most impacting movies I´ve ever seen. Along with a Colombian movie called Satanas, a movie based on a ture story of a massacre in a restaurant. Nevertheless, the most impacting thind in "la heine" was the hopeless description of youngs in france, and who would belive that a few years later this time bomb was going to explote.

  • well you're wrong because its a cinematic masterpiece of urban culture, absolutley superb, its a film that defines the inner city youth in 90 minutes i recommend you see it, fuckin incredible.

  • @oldsnake8592 i'm french and this definitely depicts the truth about the urban youths in france, this is as real as it gets! one of the best movies!

  • @SilverNrGy985

its an amazing film but what makes it incredible is the fact that any youths from around the world can relate to it, here in the uk the Banlieue's in Paris are extremley similar to the estates in London minus the rioting every week, theres a Vince, Hubert and Said in almost every multicultural city all in the same struggle, La Haine was the best thing to happen to urban cinema since Taxi Driver

  • @oldsnake8592 well put. one little thing though: although in the US we would consider the "inner city" the more ghetto and project like area, in france, "les banlieus" is the outskirts of the city, the opposite of the inner city.

  • @fourges1 its like that in most European cities i live in London and like Paris, Berlin, Rome etc. so yeah it was a poor use of word there, i understand allot of the more violent neighbourhoods in American cities are located within the respected city take queensbridge for example a project located within NYC, i love those little differences between Europe and America .

  • this is a classic

    one of my favorites

  • a great movie... a lot of respect to mathieu kassovitz!

  • word!

  • anyone got a link to the video, if its on the internet that is

  • Seriously the best french film ever. My favorite.

  • it' film french with actor arabic and french

  • seen this movie last night... i'm all the better for it

  • This film is officially one of the best films ever made, I remember watching it years and years ago, and loving it to pieces, then I remember going to the 10th anniversary showing in London and loving it all over again, and then buying it on DVD and showing everyone I know.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolute Classic

  • damn i want to see it so badly, but its like hard as hell to get it in america

  • I think BARNES AND NOBLE has it, and this week (July 17) all of the Criterion films are on sale for half price!

  • great film

    groetjes uit vlaanderen
