I quit buying gifts for the most part years ago. It has relieved so much stress. I felt obligated to buy stuff for people at Christmas. I don't know why but, I stopped. I got to where I take my family out to eat on a day we all can be together as my Christmas gift. They really prefer I do that. It saves a lot of money and my house is so full of stuff as it is anyway.
I am a life time gardener, and I saved seeds. two years ago I gave away 100 packs of seeds that I had saved, last year I gave away 1,100 packs of seed. At a cost of about 10 cents each,
this to mostly kids, and the local poor.
I told on the packs that a pack of seed would grow $100 worth of food if grown.
I gave other tips as well.
hope this helps.
If government hogs demand more, then we most live on less or look outside the box
