Its a bit more fun with a baitcaster, even though its harder. I learned in spring with some bass are lethargic, skipping actually triggers the into biting even in open water. I pitched a jig around a small lake on a boat all day with few strikes, and when I started skipping rather than pitching, I caught alot more fish. I think it grabs their attention much better.
