  • USAwoody, the paper & fuel go into the inner burn chamber. There is the round hole on the very top of the unit. Swing the round door open, then carefully poor in the fuel, MAKE SURE UNIT IS COLD. Then crumple up the paper and put that on top. Hope that hepls. I would never start this thing with GASOLINE. It will create a big Puff of fire.

  • Where do you put the 4oz's of fuel?

  • Those things do work real well. I went through Army Basic Training in March...still winter in New Jersey. Our bivouac got flooded. I woke up in 8 inches of water. The HQ tent had one of those heaters and let me tell you, they kick off some great heat.

  • Cool and informative. Thanks for posting.

  • Good demo. This would be a good liquid fuel stove and the M-41 would be the better wood burning stove as it has a 1/2" thick iron grate specifically designed to handle coal and wood..

  • is there any specs on diesel usage per hour

  • @ttaylor667 The book states at full output, which is a lot of heat, the usage is .4 gal/hour. so it should be a bit more than 2hrs of full operation per gal. I have not tested this yet, waiting for winter and will know if this is an accurate number.

  • will this work with bio diesel or pure alcohol?

  • @d909kings Not sure? Issue would be the regulator. Its just a gravity feed unit so there is probably a pre-set needle valve in there. Would have to figure out the rate to let fuel in then see how well it would burn. Could be other problems? BE SAFE!

  • @d909kings Not sure about fuels other than what was stated. A bit of VERY CAUTIOUS research and experimentation would have to be done. Would have to check the flash temperature and the boiling point of the bio and alcohol and compare them to deisel and gas. If they are lower I would be cautions as it may explode. If they are higher may not work at all?

  • I have been looking for a "real" emergency heater for WTSHTF and this looks good! Good job on the explanation, I think I could actually set this up myself. Hopefully will never have to use it but time will tell.........................
