Hey Zipster, I only know about the whole draft thing from movies and books, as I am not American and too young to have experienced it myself. So it's interesting to hear your story about it. We still have military service here in Germany. God knows why. It sucks and it' s a waste of time for most of the guys doing it. Only thing you learn is how to become an alcoholic. At least you can serve your time working in a hospital or something else instead. That's what i did.

I remember the Sunday night draft lottery. My older brother had a draft number and every Sunday night they would show sets of numbers if your draft number fell with in the range posted you had one week to report. Of course, by then you would receive a telegram telling you to report. They stopped the lottery because people would head to Canada Sunday night if their numbers were picked.
