HOMIEAT The plubic option will indeed destroy competition. There will be no private insurance five years after the bill begans. Private insurance can not compete with a goverment that can spend taxpayers money. Private insures have to make a profit or there is no reason to have a biz. Other problems will be, long lines just to see a doctor if you still have one. Prices will skyrocket because your adding 45 milliom with out enough dictors.Doctors will leave the country or find other jobs,

The whole "healthcare plan" Obama imposes would destroy competition (when govt raises taxes or prints more money to increase revenue) by forcing businesses to opt for the lower cost plan (govt) in order to reduce costs. At some point, EVERYONE will be on this plan. My health insurance plan is just fine as it is.

I don't know what you are suggesting "conservatism" is. FYI: The term "conservative" is in relation to the role of government. A conservative believes that the government should be as small (or conservative) as possible. Adding health care to the government's responsibilities (and, as a result, to its scope of power) only serves to increase the role of government. Conservatives don't want this health care plan because they don't want someone else controlling that part of their lives too.

Thanks, Dan Burton, for speaking the truth. The "public option" will be a government operated insurance company that will have the US Treasury to cover losses, which, offering premiums lower than the private sector can. They will be out of business soon thereafter. There will be no competition; just Canadian health care with a southern venue. What is the term used to describe government ownership and operation of industries and services on the European or Chinese model?
