Actually I asked a worker, and she had a long ponytail that she was growing out for locks of love. but the wale saw it as bait, and dragged her under. it didnt bite her as all she only had a a lot of bruises and drowned.

But the bond between humans and animals is magical. we were meant to be one on one with the animals. I currently work with cirque de la mer as a sea sprite and when im on break i get to see these amazing animals up close. I LOVE seaworld and i wish it will stay around forever.
ALSO even if these shows are amazing to watch, if u have these whales' wellbeing at heart then DONT pay to watch these shows!! If u do u are just paying for the whales to be kept in the small spaces of seaworld.

Naturally, it's to be lamented that a human life was lost, but I despise how their tones, the anchor, and Sea World representers, sound so damn sad and accusing of the whale. MAYBE the whale was saved, not captured but the tank he's/she's kept in seems too small...

Seriously guys if you looked up the facts everyone says free the whales and things like that but the whales cant be released because they would die over 75% of their whales were stranded whales in the ocean who lost their mothers and would have died anyways!!! The orcas that are supposed to be in the oceans are still there!!
I do understand that it is wrong to do this to wild animals but the trainer who got killed was a person that loved this animals and really care for them, otherwise she wouldn't work with them. If someone desearves to die should be people who is actually cruel to animals (like in labs or people whi kill whales in Japan, for example) not a pearson that love to work with animals... At 0:33 that tank is an 8 foot deep holding/medical tank they use to isolate animals for short periods of time and to treat them. That is absolutely not where Tilikum is normally; he resides in a very large pool connected to several others with the whole pod. To moniter him he was put in there right after the attack... If you really think that is where he spends his time on any sort of regular basis you should check your facts.

This guy is such a tawt, making the whole incident look worse than it already was. What you've got to understand and more importantly repspect is that these creatures are enormous. Orcas or in fact any whale aren't meant to be restricted to an area the size of the pool at seaworld. I've never seen orcas in the wild but I have swam with a humpback whale calf and they are like giant puppies.
There was a moment with the calf where it became too friendly and started to turn over and splash water on myself and two other friends. Whist doing that it nearly hit one of friends with its tail but luckily it missed him by around 2 metres. My point is that we can get too attached to these creatures without realising that these animals are still wild and their enormous bodies can cause serious injuries to those that dare to get too close.
this is what happens when u think u have tamed a wild animal...sooner or later it will fight u for the dominant roll of its social group and in this case the trainer lost more than status...she lost her life...
PS: this happens especially whit male animals...in breading season.
When are people going to STOP seeing animals as OBJECTS and start realizing that these are LIVES! When these animals are kept in aquariums they suffer physically & psychologically. Everyone including marine mammals have their breaking point which is why this unfortunate incident happend. I just wish we could have more regard for these beautiful creatures and realize it's UNFAIR to keep them in captivity for our own amusement.

It is so terrible to see the Orca locked up in a tank with barely enough water in it to cover him, let alone swim... all because it did what comes naturally to it. It didn't play by the humans rules, so now it gets locked up in a cage! They should be ashamed of themselves!!! She knew the risks!

I am all for keeping animals safe and keeping them from getting hunted by poachers. But you know once you take an animal out of it's natural habitat and into something smaller, yes they will get aggravated. I know, I work with animals myself. They get tired of things just like we do. For a person to be brave enough to try to work with an animal is amazing and brave. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

@MsOzzy20 The fins of Orcas bend in the wild all the time too; it does not just happen in captivity. Most older male whales have bent fins. This happens because the fin is mostly tissue, so it flops over. As the fin grows taller, it just bends more because it weighs more. That combined with that fact that all whales spend most of their time near the surface to breathe causes it to bend over. Stop talking shit about something you have no knoweldge of.

These amazing animals shouldnt be confined in these boring concrete tanks performing the same old boring tricks day after day. @christopherbeau That is actual the small pool they use to hold whale for a few minutes while they shuffle the others around. It also helps in some scenarios when the vet needs to get to them. They don't keep them in that small area for more than a few minutes. He was in there while they decided what to do to him and so they didn't have to worry about him. It is very rare to see them in that part of the pool.
uh...shouldnt they have known better then to keep doing these kind of shows after what had happend to the other trainer in 06??? things like this wouldnt happen if they didnt keep wild animals in captivity. they should release them into the wild where they belong and not in huge fish tanks

People leave SeaWorld feeling moved and that they have a connection with the animals and many will turn right around and do something positive for whales in the wild. Those whales do have people who car for them. Each one of those trainers truly cares about those whales and do their best to make sure they have the best in the situation...

Seriously guys if you looked up the facts everyone says free the whales and things like that but the whales cant be released because they would die over 75% of their whales were stranded whales in the ocean who lost their mothers and would have died anyways!!! The orcas that are supposed to be in the oceans are still there!!

I do understand that it is wrong to do this to wild animals but the trainer who got killed was a person that loved this animals and really care for them, otherwise she wouldn't work with them. If someone desearves to die should be people who is actually cruel to animals (like in labs or people whi kill whales in Japan, for example) not a pearson that love to work with animals... Just my opinion (please respect that)

At 0:33 that tank is an 8 foot deep holding/medical tank they use to isolate animals for short periods of time and to treat them. That is absolutely not where Tilikum is normally; he resides in a very large pool connected to several others with the whole pod. To moniter him he was put in there right after the attack... If you really think that is where he spends his time on any sort of regular basis you should check your facts.

This guy is such a tawt, making the whole incident look worse than it already was. What you've got to understand and more importantly repspect is that these creatures are enormous. Orcas or in fact any whale aren't meant to be restricted to an area the size of the pool at seaworld. I've never seen orcas in the wild but I have swam with a humpback whale calf and they are like giant puppies.

There was a moment with the calf where it became too friendly and started to turn over and splash water on myself and two other friends. Whist doing that it nearly hit one of friends with its tail but luckily it missed him by around 2 metres. My point is that we can get too attached to these creatures without realising that these animals are still wild and their enormous bodies can cause serious injuries to those that dare to get too close.

When are people going to STOP seeing animals as OBJECTS and start realizing that these are LIVES! When these animals are kept in aquariums they suffer physically & psychologically. Everyone including marine mammals have their breaking point which is why this unfortunate incident happend. I just wish we could have more regard for these beautiful creatures and realize it's UNFAIR to keep them in captivity for our own amusement.

It is so terrible to see the Orca locked up in a tank with barely enough water in it to cover him, let alone swim... all because it did what comes naturally to it. It didn't play by the humans rules, so now it gets locked up in a cage! They should be ashamed of themselves!!! She knew the risks!

I am all for keeping animals safe and keeping them from getting hunted by poachers. But you know once you take an animal out of it's natural habitat and into something smaller, yes they will get aggravated. I know, I work with animals myself. They get tired of things just like we do. For a person to be brave enough to try to work with an animal is amazing and brave. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

@MsOzzy20 The fins of Orcas bend in the wild all the time too; it does not just happen in captivity. Most older male whales have bent fins. This happens because the fin is mostly tissue, so it flops over. As the fin grows taller, it just bends more because it weighs more. That combined with that fact that all whales spend most of their time near the surface to breathe causes it to bend over. Stop talking shit about something you have no knoweldge of.

Trainers will keep getting attacked for as long as these powerful creatures are in captivity. These amazing animals shouldnt be confined in these boring concrete tanks performing the same old boring tricks day after day. To be honest an animal that is as intelligent as the orca and as large will do what the hell it wants. The trainers know that they will be tormenting beings as intelligent as us when they take the job. Not nice to hear that someones died, but this surely cannot be a surprise!?

Did you see the size of this holding tank? This is cruelty to animal by definition. A killer whale in the wild swims 75 miles of more EACH day, and the greedy SeaWorld people want you to believe that they're happy??? They're not, they're drugged, they're afraid and they've been taught that they're fed as long as they perform tricks. If you hear anything different...it's a lie. Billion dollar business lie. If you don't believe me, just imagine yourself for life in a 3 foot by 3 foot shoe closet.

@christopherbeau That is actual the small pool they use to hold whale for a few minutes while they shuffle the others around. It also helps in some scenarios when the vet needs to get to them. They don't keep them in that small area for more than a few minutes. He was in there while they decided what to do to him and so they didn't have to worry about him. It is very rare to see them in that part of the pool.

@Areowave I do too. I mean, yea, animals like that aren't meant for small spaces, but they touch so many people and create conservationists on a daily basis. People leave SeaWorld feeling moved and that they have a connection with the animals and many will turn right around and do something positive for whales in the wild. Those whales do have people who car for them. Each one of those trainers truly cares about those whales and do their best to make sure they have the best in the situation...
