  • Dude , if you want to show off with a classic, at least get it right ! GEEEZ !

3 Gin, 1 Vodka, 1/2 Kina Lillet, SHAKEN, garnish with a lemon peel.

    Get a clue !

  • If he used a regular strainer instead of a julep strainer, maybe he wouldn't spill so much of the drink.

  • Why make a video pretending to show a Bond Vesper and you get a shit Vesper! :S

  • Three measures of Gordon's gin, one of vodka, HALF a measure of Kina Lillet and a lemon twist.

Also, Lillet is an aperitif wine, not a liqueur. Though it does have orange liqueurs in it.

  • This is not a Vesper Martini. This is,, some random shit, loosely based a cross between a Vesper Martini and an Old Fashioned. No bitters,, wrong fruit (lemon, not orange) and THREE measures of Gordon's gin.

  • Whats the point?

Its 3 parts GORDONS GIN!!! It has to be Gordons gin! its in the book...

And a lemon peel should be included, and there should be no bitters.......And it should be shaken...

but otherwise that was just perfect...

  • give the guy a break! thats a fantastic drink! and you lot know nothing Ian Flemming had the drink made for him not Bond and you can bet your ass it wasn't shaken! never shake a martini that was added for the book cuz it sounds cool. if a martini is ever shaken it becomes a "bradford" martini. also "Kina" Lillet is not made any more so he's using the next best thing which is made in the same town. do your research before you give your peace of mind!

  • Lillet LIQUOR? And it's 3-1-1/2 shaken

  • Its' pronounced Vespaaa! (Right?)

  • 2:36 i bet he does that every night

  • this is not the original vesper martini!!

  • SHAKEN. NOT STIRRED

  • The original recipe from the book is:

"Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel."

    1st mistake: it's 3 measures of Gin

    2nd mistake: it's 1/2 measure Kina Lillet

    3rd mistake: Shaken not stirred

4th mistake: Lemon peel, not orange.

Since Kina Lillet is no longer available you can use Lillet Blanc... but in my opinion the best substitute for Kina Lillet is Cocchi Americano.

  • @KenshinPT Wikipedia FTW

  • In the words of Martin Sheen as President Bartlett. "I've always wondered about the whole James Bond shaken not stirred bit. All shaken not stirred gets you is watered down gin and a splash of dry vermouth. The reason you stir it with that special spoon is so not to chip the ice. James is ordering a weak drink and being very snooty about it."

  • Barbarians shake their martini's

  • This is NOT a vesper. Proportions all wrong and no bitters are not supposed to be in it. Lemon peel!

  • I am not a barkeeper or a cocktail specialist ,the video is very good but the recipe is wrong.

Its 3 Gin .1/2 Kina Littet, shaken, and its a lemon not orange.

  • Ian Fleming knew his stuff. This bartender doesn't. The reason Fleming chose Gordon's, is that Tanqueray is too overpowering. And the addition of Angostura is unacceptable. If anything, a dash or two of Fee's ORANGE bitters. Angostura is too spicy and herby and lacks the citrus theme. And an orange FLAME?

  • i think this drink is perfect bond was wrong with shaking and all the rest... not sure bout the bitters id rather use orange bitters

  • Not original if the proportions are incorrect.

  • Why is it that none of these "Pro" bartenders use the proper proportions?

  • The original in the book is 3 oz gin, 1 oz vodka, 1/2 oz kina lillet shaken til' ice cold, served with a large, thin slice of lemon peel. That said though, i understand the orange bitters because the reason lillet is not called "kina lillet anymore is because its less better then the brand Mr. Fleming would have been drinking. Two questions: 1). where would i get a hold of Aromatic bitters? 2). For a new comer to this cocktail, would shaken provide an easier transition as it is not as stiff?

  • its

    3 Gin

    1 Vodka

    1/2 Lillet

    SHAKEN

  • @superwowie111 and a twist of lemon, not orange

  • @superwowie111 Actually it was originally ''Stirred, not shaken.'', but ''Shaken, not stirred.'' sounded better, so they changed it.

  • non shaken not real

  • James Bond: "3 measures of Gordon's, 1 of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel" First of all he uses bombay sapphire and not Gordon's. Then it's suppose to be HALF a measure of lillet and the 'kina' variety of lillet doesn't even exist anymore. It should be lemon peel not orange. And finally it has to be shaken not stirred... c'mon it's James Bond! It might be close enough. But it sure ain't the original...

  • @robvicious Well that is James Bond's preference, it is a vesper but you will always get variances I have heard of this version. You can't say: it should be this it should be that, most times it should be according to the person drinking it!

  • I've watched a few Vesper Martini tutorials and this one is at least better than the others. However, it's still not true to the real version. The whole point of Bond ordering it his way is that he's being original and not stirring the martini as it normally should be. After all, he is James f*ck!nb Bond, he can have it however he wants.

  • The dilution from shaking adds a balance to the rather hard alcohol used. Although the aeration is a little too much for a conventional martini, I believe it adds a dynamic that separates it from your average drink. I prefer it shaken, although It is definitely taboo.

  • The Vesper cocktail is based on how Ian Fleming enjoyed his cocktail in the Dukes Room of the Duke Hotel in London - NOT how it was prepared in the movie. Having this cocktail "shaken" was an inside joke - a gin based cocktail should never be shaken; and Fleming knew that, and purposely gave Bond this particular "cocktail flaw". And p.s. - Gordon's payed a boat load for their brand to be mentioned.

  • @cooperwtardivel Hmm well they researched this and shaken it does something with anti-oxidant effects which made Bond so healthy apparently check it out.

  • while the portions and stirring are off that had a very nice golden colour like the colour described in the book and seen in the movie

  • This is a good mix but its not a true Vesper. Bond likes it with a lemon peel, 3 parts Gordon's gin, one part vodka, one part kina lillet. served chilled, shaken not stirred.

  • @ItzCashew actually it's half a measure of kina lillet..

  • if you served that drink to bond he would have your ass. Every bond enthusiast knows the vesper martini is SHAKEN not stirred. and its three measures of gin not 2

  • @MultiMrsmooth1 I think he had it with lemon, not some sissy orange. Yes, 007 would have murdered this poor sap where he stood.

  • @MultiMrsmooth1 Bond was a suave, badass motherfucker, but he didn't know how to make a drink. Boozy drinks are always stirred.

This guy, unfortunately, also doesn't know what he's doing, either. Lillet is a fortified wine, not an orange liquor. And if you're going to be true to Bond, it's a LONG LEMON PEEL. Not a flamed orange. Seriously...where did he get that?

  • very good video ,,
