I love metalcore and the mountain goats alike. I can appreciate any type of music (except country and pop) There's some metalcore that's very unique and "skillful" (ie. August Burns Red) SOME metal is skill. I do agree, there's always going to be those crappy hardcore bands. I love the Mountain Goats, and metalcore bands equally.

@Kishiro64 what kind of skill? this is lyrical skill at its best, surfer is just pure melody, punk has excellent drumming, some recent lo-fi-bands from LA have great rhythm guitars. usually metal just incorporates heavy distortion with loud sound and screaming, i will admit that it can be done, and has earned its place, but just saying metal is skill?
