  • :O shiittt! got a question: im stuck at around 8 HSPU against a wall ( 2/3 free standing) for about 2 months now. i don't really seem to improve much even though i train quite often. you got any specific tips on what to train apart from various push ups and off course handstandpush ups? do you go to failure with every set you do when ever you train

  • It's kinda funny that one fitness guy said that he was doing the "hardest excersise ever" and he could only do max 5 each time. Those were handstand push-ups to a wall, and pretty crappy to be honest. He never excersised like you did, I would guess ;)

  • Your using more of your tricep. Spread your arms a little more and go straight down to work your shoulder.

  • i think the fact that he didnt have anything to keep him upright is the reason why he didnt go straight up and down..

  • No...hes just using a different form. You see how he kind of has his arms in front of his face when he goes down? If he would put his arms to the side of his head then he would go straight up and down to work your shoulder...kind of like a shoulder press.

  • There is a move with the free weights called the military press that works virtually the same muscles.

  • I can do these with my feet against a wall but when i try to do them without the assistance of the wall (freestanding, like you did here), sometimes I tip over backwards. Have you ever fallen backwards (landing on your back), and if so, how do you keep from screwing up your shoulders (rotator cuffs)? Thanks

  • hey ive been doing tricking,parkour,handbalancing all this new generation stuff for like 7 mths now though i still canot do a handstand pushup i can jsut bout do everything else i can hold a standing handstand for 90secs can do all the lifts such as elephant lift with locked arms.. i can do a clapping handstand pushup though i cannot do 1 normal pushup.. i dip down then cnt push up? anyone know why

  • I can do handstand pushups but my heads feels like it is going to explode after a while and I have good balance and my muslces feel fine but I just have to come down. Any suggestions? Just practice? Will I eventually get used to it? Thanks!

  • hey i can do freestanding handstand push ups with my arms real far apart, pretty much all the way down to the floor but when it comes to keeping elbows in they're awful. can barely go down at all.

    any tips?

  • you need stronger triceps, try doing normal pushups with your hands in close so your thumbs are touching that will build them up

  • yeah i used to be able to do just one freestanding, and even then it wasn't failsafe; i might tumble, i might not. but i'm 6'1 168lbs, lean as hell but it's hard to balance when you're long as a beanpole, eight feet tall on your hands ;)

    the trick i did was just to practice my standing balance by pushing off the wall and seeing how long i could hold it, then trying it in an open room. your body will remember the position it has the best balance in as time goes on.

  • Finally, someone who doesn't use the wall! THIS is where the real challenge is; balancing. Also, notice how he hits a (just about) 90 degree angle with his arms and his nose touches the floor, not just the top of his head. Nice job.

  • DanielSel i had the same problem as you and you know what? DO SLOWER thats right when i was doing wannabe fast pushups I fell down on my legs when i lift but if you do like slow you will have balance.

    Well if your strong enough everything seems to take less balance.

  • Practice Practice Practice. I had a hard time not falling over on my back or falling back on my feet but several weeks later, I was doing nice handstands, and now I only stop when I get bored. now working on pushups and one-handed handstands. Along the way you'll devellop shoulder muscles and other muscles in the upper arms and back that help you re-align your axis or whatever you call that. U can also do other exercices to strengthen your muscles but just praticing should be enough. be patient!

  • Every breakdancer seems to have absurdly overdeveloped front and medial deltoids. You seem not to have escaped this dilemma. Remember, for balanced upper body strength you should be able to bench press 150% of what you can shoulder press, do a one armed chin up for every full ROM handstand push up and dip 175% of what you can shoulder press.
