  • all the campus girls have crabs?

  • PART 4 = Finally, I don't mean for my views to be condescending in any way. I respect your hard work, and I'm sure you will make a terrific doctor one day! However, to anyone who can't enter medical school in the US due to a low GPA or MCAT, I HIGHLY encourage you to simply take 1 year off, improve your application, and reapply. You'll be making your career far more streamlined.

To Oleagirl, once again, you make great videos, and you seem like a great person. I'd appreciate some feedback.

  • You know something...So what ? I know it is a an uphill climb but if she is willing to go through all that discrimination and hard work to achieve her dream then she makes a better doctor than some of the ones in the UK and US who got in becuz of the prestige or cause it is what mum and dad wanted !

I feel sorry for IMG becuz of all the shit ppl are posting on the net. They know what they are letting themselves in for. They need encouragement not constant discouragment !

  • My father is an IMG doctor, and he had to redo his residency upon coming to the US, so I am entirely aware of their plight. I entirely respect Oleagirl, i can tell she's an intelligent woman who will make a fantastic doctor. However, I feel its important that future applicants don't get a biased view that the Caribbean is going to be the same experience as an American med school. That's it! I know Ross/SGU produce excellent physicians; just know what you are getting into is my point! Good luck!

  • PART 3 = Please also realize that when you are an FMG competing for a US residency, you are thrown into the same pool of candidates as all other FMGs (including non-Americans). Many of these applicants (like from India/China) study their absolutely tails off for the USMLE (landing in the 98th and 99th percentiles..). These were great doctors in their home countries now competing for US spots. So, essentially, even though Ross and SGU have lower standards for acceptance, it's an uphill climb..

  • PART 2 = Now, I know you can show me examples of FMGs who matched into VERY competitive US programs, but this is largely because their USMLE scores are very high (above 90th percentile in many cases). Oleagirl, I know that Ross produces many EXCELLENT doctors, but the number of Ross med students that make it through the program is also small compared to the the number that enter. The GPA and MCAT required to enter are low compared to US standards, so statistics show USMLE scores will be low.

  • PART 1 = I don't think people frown about the Caribbean medical schools because they think it's a cake-walk.. I know you guys get the same level of education that US medical students get. However, no matter how much you want to dispute the fact, it is true that US Medical students, whether it be MD or DO, generally fair a FAR higher match rate into their residency of choice as compared to FMGs.

  • Good to see your doing ok

keep ya spirits up and worse comes to worst at least you wont starve with all them crabs.
