  • This game was the reason I started collecting Genesis games. It is a masterpiece. I believe this was also Michiru Yamane's first time composing for Castlevania. What a start!! This game never ceases to take my breath away.

  • I've played some great games recently, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, even newer Castlevania games. Yet this game stil manages to be my favourite.

  • you lucky guys in america have bloodlines, we only had "the new generation" in europe. -.-

  • @Ergo0582 it's the same game.

  • @robokill387

Its the same game very censored, yes. - so for me, its not the same game.

  • @Ergo0582 welp at least they stopped censoring them when sotn came out

  • Does anyone know if this song has been featured on any other Castlevania game, not counting Rebirth?

  • I just played this for the first time in ages, and this song seems so familiar. Is it because I played this as a kid? I don't think it is for some reason...

Can you believe I played this when I was but a wee lad? With the GA rating, I wouldn't doubt it... Of course, I never played it in the actual 90's, I was born much later than that and was raised on the good ol' 16-bit systems.

  • DAT OPENING!

  • Does this song actually have reverb on it? Thats crazy how the genesis could actually support reverb.

  • @Dooke80 The YM2612 was not capable of having reverb. The only thing it could do to alter the sound was it's sine wave LFO. The thing you think is reverb here, is simple the notes being held, then faded out.

  • @dissident93 hmm...damn well its convincing for sure.

  • This is my favorite Castlevania.

  • BEST SONG IN A VIDEOGAME XD addictive

  • I wish this was on the Virtual Console

  • If you want the song (and many more) go to Galbadia Hotel the best place VG Music imo

  • where do you download these tunes

  • @erd675 youtube downloader / mp3 rocket

  • @erd675 Best site for that is Video2MP3, just google it... It's the only one I'd say is trustworthy and works like it's supposed to, no bullshit advertising etc...

  • That's what it's called? YES! Getting it on MP3! I haven't played this since I was 7, yet randomly this song will STILL come into my head! Michiru Yamane, you are a MUSIC GODDESS!!!! XD NEVER STOP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

  • HI, I MADE A GUITAR ROCK VERSION OF REINCARNATED SOUL, AS A PART OF A FULL CASTLEVANIA ALBUM IN WISH IM WORKING ON,,, CHECK IT OUT AT MY CHANNEL,,,

  • @DanielRiveraGuitar

okay, can you write post WITHOUT CAPSLOCK?

  • You know there's an extra part to this song's intro that you never hear in the soundtrack...You only hear it on the Sega during gameplay. I'm tempted to connect my Sega to record this little extra big with the whole song.

  • @KoruKinshi I LOVE TO HEAR THAT MAN,,, MAKE ME KNOW WHEN YOU POST IT PLEASE,,,

  • If im correct, this is the first time the Morris bloodline debuted.

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS true. of course, his use of the vampire killer whip eventually killed John, but his son Jonathan would later carry on with his legacy in Portrait of Ruin.

  • @figment1988 I Had a feeling. What really had me convinced is when I found out the name of the ghost in POR Was Eric and that you could also use alucard's spear. Both awesome games

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS I am pretty sure it started in the actual Dracula novels ;)

  • @aldoreshgaramok Err, *novel* rather!

  • @aldoreshgaramok I need to start reading books again

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS Most certainly. I think Dracula would be quite enjoyable to anyone who liked the Castlevania video games. I did anyways. The Victorian prose (and rote piety) can be irritating at times, but its still a good book.

  • @aldoreshgaramok il check it out.

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS Not to be pushy of course with book promotion, but if you enjoy vampire mythos, I heard the original "Interview with the Vampire" is even more magnificent than the film. I haven't read them though.

In any case, its certainly better than that Twilight schlock that gets all the attention these days.

  • @aldoreshgaramok twilight makes me cry, vampires are not suppose to just sparkle when they are in the sun.......

  • @TROLLWITHBIGBALLS Fear not, you're with friends here. Where our vampires are scary fiends who rip your throat out.

  • good soundtrack

  • beat song in game. captures the whole spirit of castlevania!

  • GA = game art

  • THIS IS BETTER THAN ACTRAISER: FILMORE!

  • I wonder how a Genesis performs reverb?

  • Game: meiocre at best (imho, 9-way whipping is a good thing)

Music: might be one of the best of the series (after the original - still nothing beats catchy 8-bit music)

  • @szlatyka actually, it's a lot better than "mediocre". castlevania 64 is mediocre, and sonic 4 is mediocre. this is a pretty good game. not as good as castlevania 4, I give you that.

  • @robokill387 C64 was horrible and almost unplayable, altough I must admit, Bloodlines isn't just meiocre - I meant it's a godd game, but nothing too special.

  • awsome i love this game it is so awsome and especially the music

  • Fucking kick ass tune.

  • 0:15 the most catchy part :D

  • I don't understand why this game isn't out on Virtual Console..

  • @terrareus13 It's probably because it has the word "Blood" in its title. Did you ever notice that Rondo of Blood was just called Dracula X here? Same thing. Nintendo thinks that they are a moral authority, and must "protect the children from games like this"

  • @judge489 actually the full name from the japanese version is

devils castlevania dracula X rondo of blood :l

  • @judge489 just rolls out of your tongue

  • @killkenny5000 AVGN Fan huh?

  • @TheMusicMixer1000 lol but i seen the japanese title its rly weird

for 1 u got the vampire killer giving dracula the middle fnger :3

  • @killkenny5000 that would be richter belmont from Dracula X/rondo of blood...

  • @judge489

Like MK On the SNES....It had sweat for blood and Even Castlevania IV Had censored crosses and nude statues...

  • i bet even tony soprano would love this track while he smokes a cigar...

  • When i played the game when i was younger it wasn't that scary well to me at least.

  • @laseren68 Damn I was afraid to die at last stage when I was there my first three times or so lol.

  • @Thedarksnw Same here no one want's to die at the last stage and start all the way over from the start of the game. I remember facepalming SO! many times when i ran out of continues.

  • @laseren68 And now many castlevanias later Bloodlines is way too easy to just walkthrough ;p.

  • @Thedarksnw Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. :)

  • I really hope this game comes to the Virtual Console. I haven't gotten the chance to play it because I'm a new fan to the series, but I love the games that I've played so far, and Bloodlines looks really good!

  • @PaperMario15 You clearly have a PC get an emulator, and buy a Logitech precision controller (There's two types the one similar to the original stickless PSX controller and the one that looks just like a Dual shock).

It's much much better, espeically since you can turn things like 2xsal (Texture filter that makes it look smoother on the High-res computer screen) and HQ (Makes sound crisper/clearer less distorted).

  • Some of the best music on the Genesis

  • I think this game should have been AT LEAST 13+. A Castlevania game like this for everyone of all ages? Seriously?

Fantastic game, one of my favprote Genesis games too, but it was more gory than Splatterhouse, which was rated 13+.

  • @alternateshadow300 *favorite

  • @alternateshadow300 i totally agree with you.this and splatterhouse 3 scared the crap out of me when i was 9.

  • @alternateshadow300 No way! Have you fought the boreworm yet? or Even that room where you find the cleaver?

  • @CompakNess Touché, but the way Eric LeCardé dies isn't what I'd call "child friendly."

  • @alternateshadow300 Watch Splatterhouse 3 worst ending.

  • @alternateshadow300 Well, get the european version, and you have solved all of your problems. It's a scientific fact that europeans don't bleed, as such in that game's version there is no blood/gore whatsoever. :-)

  • im almost 20 and the opening is still very fuckin creapy also very good game

  • sould be a full band cover

  • This shall always be the first Castlevania theme ive ever heard! :D

  • Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awsome. One of my all time favorites.

  • Best ever! Michiru Yamane is awesome!!!

  • awesome ;_;

  • BEST SONG IN THE CLASSIC CASTLEVANIA SERIES

  • esta cancion siempre se me qeda pegada en la cabesa XD

  • Everyone knows sega had the best music.

  • @Wezzipooh

But it is true, the Sega had a much more limited and inferior soundchip.

However, a commenter once said "Composition trumps sound hardware any day".

The NES had a shit soundchip, and it had a lot of badass music to boot.

  • @ZDST Megadrive has FM synth. Most composers didn't know how to utilize it to its potential so that is why it sounds inferior in most games. FM is actually superior by a wide margin. Listen to Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes. These are a few games with the YM2612 pushed to its potential.

  • @XBladenoJutsu

Aye, I wont disagree what FM synth is very good. However it can be hard to apply to most games.

The SPC700 however was better able to use more realistic sound samples. So if you wanted something to sound like techno, or orchestrated, or even Jazzy, you could use more flexibly.

One thorn on the SPC700s side however was it's shitty programming, since it ran on a separate processor, you had to write a more complicated code for it to communicate with the main SNES processor.

  • @ZDST Actually things like Rock and Techno are definately best left for the Genesis' FM synthesis. Actually, now that I think of it, Sonic the Hedgehog has alot of mixed tunes. SPC is good for pretty much everything else. Kind of sad that composers didn't handle FM better. Sad that the YM2612 didn't utilize samples too, but I personally enjoy listening to what the Genesis can produce either way. I like SPC too, it just doesn't sound as cool in the longrun =P

  • @XBladenoJutsu Really both chips are good for everything in their own ways. Look at the Ys III soundtrack on genesis, then look at it on SNES. It's rock, and it's terrible on SNES. But then look at Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, they actually manage to rock it out pretty hard on SNES. While the genesis soundchip may be TECHNICALLY inferior, it's really all in the hands of the composers.

  • @TheImmutable Yes, Agreed. SPC handles certain things better while FM handles its own things better. Both unique sound chips which emits very unique sounds that no console these days can hope to match by standing out the way these two have done and still do today.

  • i rather jerk off to this than watch Porn like a perverted fuck.

  • not my favorite castlevania(still amazing game though) but definitely my favorite soundtrack.

  • I may be sexually attracted to this song.

  • @FirstWizardZorander I know what you mean XD

  • @FirstWizardZorander Oh my I fear the whip in my pants has gone wild, will you help me fight off Dracula with it? xD

  • Third best Castlevania game EVAR!!!!

  • @Felixproductions1 Whats the second and first then?

  • @deetroitgrrl First: Castlevania 4

    Second: Symphony of the night

  • @Felixproductions1 Is that off of AVGN's opinion or is that your honest to god opinion?

  • @deetroitgrrl well ok this game is the second after SC4

  • Man, this is definitely one of my all time favorite Castlevania games. I love this game so fucking much.

  • Even though the belmonts aren't in it I like how John morris is the Son of Quincy morris from the bram stoker dracula book ^_^

  • Although the snes probably did have a better sound chip, I've always felt that (most) megadrive/genesis games soundtracks had more of a "soul" to them. Sure there are some great SNES OSTs but the megadrive always takes it for me. Anyways Commodore 64 SID chip > all! :P.

    Also love this track :D

  • When the Belmont's are in vacation they call this guys and it has to be at least goog with the whip

  • I always loved how the Genesis soundchip sounded nostalgic and calming.

  • my favourite Castlevania game, I still can't beat this game XD

  • @elrolinga77 just found my copy, I have had this game for 15 years and I JUST beat it :P, then it asked me if i wanted to play on expert I was like O_O

  • Konami made three great game series: Contra series, Metal Gear series and of course CASTLEVANIA SERIES

  • This is what you call: Castlevania Music

  • Does this just sound wrong without the sound of crows and getting hit?

  • @GreaterGood11 Needs evil FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP sounds in the beginning huh? ;p

  • I always thought Bloodlines was one of the most underrated Castlevania games. It was gorey, great music (But then don't all Castlevania games have great music?) have a choice between 2 characters, and pretty good graphics. I've always liked SNES music better, but there are times where the Genisis music really impresses me.

  • And, as always, Konami is one of the few to truly exploit a system's true potential.

  • Excelent piece of music, yes sir.

By the way, six people are either deaf or have the brains of a zombie.

  • what a bangin tune.

    damn

  • Meh sure SNES pretty much won the 16-bit gen, but the music i didn't really like. The only case i liked SNES music better was in Battletoads and DD. But most of the music on SNES had the same feel and instruments. Genesis had more variety. Like Gunstar Heroes, SOR, THIS, Sonic. So...Genesis won the music war IMO

  • *John looks up at Castle Dracula*

    Once more, with FEELING....

  • This is awesome music from awesome game, but I think that Castlevania Bloodlines is too easy than Super Castlevania IV ,therefore I prefer Super Castlevania IV 'cause it's really hard game, but i'm NOT a SNES fanboy

  • @VampireKiller90 Bloodlines is wayyy harder than 4. They both are not easy by any means but Bloodlines has some incredibly difficult encounters to it. Did you think the stage that split into 2 was easy? Making every single jump and staircase in midair was cake? While the screen is split into different parts so that yer upper body was in a different place than yer lower body

  • Every time I hear this I think of Cirque Du Freak. I don't know why, but it's not just because it's about vampires.

  • One of the most underrated games of all time!

  • 起源プラスvastlevaniaはownageに等しい

  • This takes me back to my childhood, first game i ever played in my whole life :>

  • seriously who named theese tracks? i had never saw such titles (e.g "reincarnated soul) directly in the game

  • Amazing soundtrack. ;)

  • du du dunnn, da da da DAM DAM DAM DAMM,doo doo, dududu, dududup du du dup duppppp

DAP DAP DOO DOO, DAP DAP DOO DOO!!!!

  • @ShakeITyEA I agree

  • @ShakeITyEA

    Not funny

  • @ShakeITyEA Shuddap.

  • Great music, great game but just wished the belmont clan wouldve been featured here

  • haha I love this track :D

  • Comment removed

  • i think i heard this song on a PS2 castlevania game, but i cant remember what was the name of the song

  • @therealcaz I think parts of this (and maybe Iron Blue Intention also) were used in Cordova Town from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

  • My god I loved this game so much. I started playing it again when I got a Genesis emulator, so many memories being relived. John Morris was an awesome character, too bad he died soon after the events of Bloodlines. :(

  • I WANT LINEAR CASTLEVANIA BACK NOW who aggres on me

  • @shoooshify agreed

  • ill tell you who draculla death and a skelleton

  • @supadude626 Dickheads

  • @supadude626 Peoples who scared shitless at this epicness. They were so scared that they sticked with the crappy songs on Gutair Hero.

  • @supadude626 lol, I can picture you looking around in anger with your chain whip out and boomerang cross while saying that.

  • @supadude626 probaly Twilight fans, because John Morris didnt classivy Edward as a vampire

  • @supadude626

    Twilight Fanboys, that's who!

  • @supadude626 justin bieber

  • @supadude626 9 medusa heads.

  • *Jumps up and down like John Morris*

  • Music like this is what inspired me to create RegressionFM, a Genesis-Inspired (but not copied!) instrument set that turns almost all .mid (midi) files into sega genesis music. It essentially emulates a genesis sy77 yamaha-fm chip using the DSP of the soundcard instead of the CPU. If you have a SB live/Audigy/X-fi & love these oldskool beats then i've got something to show you on my channel. TY for putting this awesome song up man.

  • This song makes me wish that I could never pass that first level...

  • @VayneValentine same from me dude same from XD

  • THe Sega Genesis/MegaDrive did have some great music. Examples I remember are Revenge of Shinobi, The Streets of Rage titles, Castlevania, Gunstar Heroes. The SNES generally sounded cleaner, but it should have done, it was released 2 years later than the Genesis.
