No, it doesnt' explicitly say cover you hair, it says draw your veil over your bosom, and a veil is usually on your head and in the hadith there is evidence for it. Why the big hub bub, it's an individual decision in a Western country, it's up to the girl to cover or uncover so leave it be

@MsViollentia chukran/thank you, but the problem is there are different English translations some say draw their garments around them, the most popular is draw veils over bosom, and the Saudi translation actually says and do not show anything except one eye, so the problem partly is with different translation, Arabic is not my native language so I can't say for sure
The call is definitely to be modest and in Hadith there is clear evidence that Prophet said when a girl gets to age of puberty

First of all, rape is a real threat, but it happens in Muslim countries as well. The purpose of hijab is to let the Muslim woman be recognized as a free, respectable, believing woman. @MsViollentia chukran/thank you, but the problem is there are different English translations some say draw their garments around them, the most popular is draw veils over bosom, and the Saudi translation actually says and do not show anything except one eye, so the problem partly is with different translation, Arabic is not my native language so I can't say for sure
The call is definitely to be modest and in Hadith there is clear evidence that Prophet said when a girl gets to age of puberty

First of all, rape is a real threat, but it happens in Muslim countries as well. The purpose of hijab is to let the Muslim woman be recognized as a free, respectable, believing woman. Now, I'm not saying Muslim women who don't hijab are bad at all. As a woman in the west who converted to Islam I would say men do look your body over and the hijab prevents this, I personally feel much more comfortable in a group of men in or passing by one in my hijab and modest clothes, esp as a young woman.: )

@princessmaiya1 Women sikhs don't wear turbans and neither do their children. ;) Where I live all school kids without exception wear a school uniform to avoid this problem. All the kids are dressed the same, no jewlery, no make up, no vain religious dress allowed. The kids are at school to learn, not be slaves or adverts for vain religious fashion fads. And it is vanity, showing off. They expect extra rights over everyone else, then throw a wobbler when they're refused.

This is a secular country, integrate or go somewhere else you can live according to your religion, we like it just the way it is, equal to everyone.
