Need some help.. I have my gt6 hooked up to a spider line 6.. im trying to get a loop using the sound on sound setting that will record for longer, is this possible?
dude get a cable to fit the "digital out" on the bossgt6 then whack that into yer decent soundcard/sound module/whatever... then into yer pc... That IS the best way. dont believe the crap.... boss gt6 can be tweaked to high standards
thanks man, and i agree, the factory presets are not very good, and i made my own presets, and sounds decent but not my ideal sound. Ok, ,and i see the line 6 shortboad on your pedal set, do you use the pod 2.0? for what? cause i saw that you use the distorsion of you amp.
This video doesnt at all represent my current rig. I use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb head and a Hiwatt Head for my live rig. I use the Line 6 Flextone II and the floorboard controller at home for practicing. I use the Boss GT6 for quick home recording of ideas direct to my pc.
Hey man, i have the pod xt live and the pod 2.0. I prefer the 2.0 cause sounds more, mmhhh with body! ha -ha , i dont speak english. The thing its... what do you think? the pod xt live have a lot effects, and options but the sound of the amps and cabs dont have punch! and i think happen somehing like the boss gt 6 and the boss gt 8, the quality of the sound of the boss gt 6 its more than the gt 8, and i think the same to the pod 2.0 vs xt lve. or ... maybe i dontknow how to use the xt live???
Yeh I would advise trying to spend more with the XT Live and get the settings right. From what I've read, the best tones are not preset tones, but have to programmed by you by ear to suit your style, guitar and amp. But reviews of the XT Live seem to be very positive.
Yeh you can. I had a pile of effects before the amp and in the effects loop when I used this amp. You need to control the stomp boxes manually however
Hey there, I was just wondering, this loop effect is produced with the gt-6 only? if so, can you explain to me how? I have a boss gt-6 aswell, and well, what I'd like to know is how do you record a part of a lick and then just repeat it constantly (if that even is possible on the gt-6)
There isnt a looping function on the GT6. However you can to a point use the delay setting with a long delay and a constant feedback to produce a sound on sound type looper
Screw all the haters bro!! The video was great! It showed how versital you are and was a good product demo (which is all I was looking for). You are also very knowledgeable when it comes to gear. I learned more than I had even been looking for. Thanx!!
i think he's using a shaped minor paraflex with a true iogian harmonic emphesiser. hope that helped. the use of his hairspray was "mist"ifying as well i thought.
your use of pedals is mistifying... can't believe you can actually afford all of it. Towards the end you mess with the volume after you play different chords. What chords do u play?
I dont use it much anymore, but i never at any point used the gt6 for overdrive and distortion tones. If ur planning on using it for overdrives thn guitar -> gt6 input -> gt6 output -> amp input will giv the best overdrive tones as the processor is in effect before ur amps pre amp. this setup will also mean modulation effects such as reverbs, delays, chorus etc will sound crap if u use the overdrive on ur amp as they will affect ur guitar tone then ur amp will distort ur signal but also the fx
Its in the video title and the video descripton. Its called Napoleon Complex by my band Vinyl Future. You can find the info and a link to my band plaing this song live at a gig in the video description. Cheers
Its alright yeh. I dont use it much now. But have used it live in the past for a variety of reasons, and in dirrect setups i.e as a pre amp as just fx processor for fx loop type fx and straight into a PA.
It does have an octave up function, its has a simulated whammy pedal. Its not fantastic tho.
when using the GT6 thru the flextone what setting do you use on the flextone? and do you plug the pedal into the front of the amp or go thru the effects loop?
Settings on flextone I have no idea Im afraid, i programmed it literally years ago.
hen I did use this setup I had the GT6 thru the fx loop, with the overdrive, pre amp and eq sections bypassed, so using only the modulation effects in FX1 and FX2.
Errm I use mainly single pedals these days. But I have had a quick look at some of the new multi fx on the market. The TC Electronics Nova System is the best in that price range.
Errrm I have quite alot of pedals. Probably 30ish. Dont use th GT6 much anymore used it for certain gigs and basic quick home recording a few years ago. Good unit for the money if you can pick one up secondhand
Where can I get the full Napolean complex, studio version?;) It looks way cool this song! Cool intro and riffage. I´ll definetly will listen to your band.
When you turn off the effects and turn the distortion, it is coming from the line 6 correct? Not the GT 6? If so what do you think about the 6´s distortion? Thanks.
Thanks man. There isnt a proper studio version of Napoleon Complex. There is however a home demo version without vocals on our myspace, sounds decent enough despite having electronic drums. There are a few videos of us playing it live on youtube aswell dude.
Overdrive is coming from the Flextone II yeh. Its decent the overdrive from the Line 6 much better than any other solid state/digital amp i have played.
Myself and my two bandmates play Mesa Boogie amps in our full rigs, but we all own flextone ii's and iii's that we still use for smaller gigs, rehearsing and at home. We are fans of the flextone range. Good tones of ur willing to spend the time with one.
Thanks man. Will check the tune out. And the ending riff, despite what many say, in my opinion...kicks ASS:):) I´ll be whatching your videos whenever I can, they are very usefull for guitarrists who want to understand more and more about guitar playing and effects.
I didn't know they had the internet in special school.
Instead of actual keys on the keyboard do you have a happy face and a sad face binded to randomly generated phrases which you mash at any particular time?
i have no amp and no cabinet/speaker .. can i just use the bossgt-6 alone as a amp by plugin into the headphone jack ?
is it only a multi-effect and need to run into a amp or it is a amp by itself ? i play with headphone in my room .
its jsut not clear .. i know pod xt are amp modeler , so is behringer v-amp , but dunno about the boss gt-6 . does this unit have the basic boss pedal like superoverdrive sd-1 , overdrive , ds-1 etc.. ?
Yeh u can use it with headphones dude. It has amp modelling software similar to the POD etc. It has pretty much every Boss pedal in production plus more within it, so all the overdrive pedals etc, + delays chorus etc.
Hi man, how do you get the freaky sound at the beginning? LOVE IT! I have the gt-8 so normally it must be possible to get it. And wich amp do you simulate for the distortion? Or is it your line 6?
I odnt use the GT6 or the Line 6 much anymore, but in this vid I am using the Line 6 overdrive sound. I never use the amp models or distortion models on the GT6 as I hook the GT6 up into my amps fx loop meaning the GT6 is in effect after the pre amp hence the amp models sound rubbish. Its delay and a few other fx at the start dude.
Yeh I can afford a Gibson.....I like Epiphones they are good guitars for the money, I have several. I bought a PRS Singlecut (hasnt appeared in vids yet, but will) which shits all over any Gibson Les Paul that is being manufactured at the moment. Gibson bild quality is poor at the moment IMO.
I dont use it. I dont really use the GT6 much anymore, but when I did i connected it via my amps fx loop so I turned off any eq, wah, pre amp and distortion effects as they sounded terrible in this method of connection.
Well thats what I have, check out my most recent videos. I use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb head + Hiwatt Lead 100 head thur a Mesa Boogie stereo 2x12 recto cab, with a butt load of pedals controlled by my Gig Rig Pro 14!
My live setup is quite complicated dude. I use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Head for heavy and very heavy channels, and a vintage Hiwatt 100 Head for cleans and light overdrive. They are both connected to a Mesa Boogie Recto 2x12 with V30's via a Radial Headbone VT Head Switching unit, which is externally controlled ( as are my two heads, i.e channel switching, reverb on/off) by a Gig Rig Pro14.
All my effects pedals are connected to the Gig Rig as seperate loops and are dropped in and out of the signal path by the switching system. I connect the fx loops of both amps thru this system, so i can select which pedals are connected to the direct input of the amp (thus in effect b4 the pre amp) and which effects r in use in the amps fx loop (this in effect between the pre amp and power amp stage). I dont really use my GT6 much in this setup, only on one set we play as I use the slicer fx.
Hope that makes sense dude. You would need to check out the Radial ToneBone HeadBone VT and the Gig Rig Pro 14 to know what I am talking baout as they arent really mainstream units. If your looking to go rack, speak to my bandmates Gazpots and Meemawuk (you will find them in my subscriptions list, I only have 4), they both have Mesa Boogie setups with TC Electronic Rack effects, both sound bitchin. I am not the best on rack gear. Cheers, Craig
hey dude i need your help. i put my gt6 in the loop of my krank head and the wah sounds like the volume is dead in the low frequency. is there a way to make it sound normal while it is in the amp's loop?
Nop, it wont sound great in ur amps fx loop as it comes into effect after the pre amp stage. Ideally ur wah must be in effect between ur guitar signal and the pre amp stage, as it relies on the subtle dynamics of your playing to get that full sweep of the guitar frequencies from the wah, which is why the volume is dipping in the lower freqencies as the pre amp cant boost them as it is b4 the pedal in the signal path, so the wah filters them out completly as opposed to just colouring them
One of the drawacks of hooking it to the fx loop is the loss of the pre amp, dist box and wah options. There is a third way of connecting it, but I cant think of it off the top of my head
i need your help dude. ive got a gt6, had it for 2 years and its never let me down. awesome pedal. only problem is im finding that im getting better distortion tones from the boss ds-1 pedal. is there any way i can link the two so that if i want to play distortion i can use the ds-1 distortion (by bypassing the gt6) and then using clean, crunch and every other modulation effect through the gt6?
Mmmmm not sure about that one dude. I have never used the GT6 to control other pedals before, I reckon there is probs a way of doing it. What I used to do is connect the GT6 to my amps effects loop, and use only the delay, chorus reverb fx1 and fx2 functions. I would bypass the amp modelling, and overdrive sections, then use stomp boxes like the OD-3 or BD-2 for overdrive, or use theamps overdrive channel. Always sounded good. I dont like the GT6 overdrive tones.
and that doesn't effect the tone? that sounds like a decent way of doing things. i have a super shifter (boss) which i am in love with. what would u recommend connecting that to? the FX loop with the GT6 or the input?
Your tone will be much better, if u have a decent amp. The tone from the amp wont be altered to much by the GT6 pre amp models and distortion effetcs, meaning u can add delat phasers etc without losing the tone from your amp.
I would put the PS-5 after ur DS-1 connected to the direct input, then connect the GT6 via the amps fx loop.
I have sent u an email explaing a few other things
The GT8 is just the updated version of the GT6 dude. There a few extra features on the GT8, but nothing too drastic. I have a GT6 and one of my bandmates has a GT8, they are very similar. I would have a look at the Boss website, look at the extra features and if none of them make a big difference to u, pick up a GT6 at a good price
Delay wise u just have ur standard digital delay, which u can tweak to within ms. You setup stereo delay etc, and tweak level, feedback, time etc very well.
Reverb...it has the usual choice of reverbs..hall room, plate etc, and again allows u to tweak them in fairr detail.
whatever works best for ya bro. ya know, Dickey Betts formerly of the Allman Brothers was the first guitar player to use swells on "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and to this day many believe he started that whole phenom... I dig your gear mostly too. Your a good enough player to step into a Gibson and leave the Epi's behind. No dis-, just sayin'.
Yeh I have looked at Gibsons LP's recently, really poor build quality for the money at the moment. Havent played one that compares to some of my Epiphones with Seymour Duncans. Epi's r hit and miss but some are decent. I will probably buy a PRS singlcut or a Collins.
I have tried, and I do use a volume pedal for alot of other swells on other tracks we play, but for some reason this effect works better using the guitar volume knob....dont ask me why!
I want a boss gt6 so bad. What do you think is a fair price for a used one? I found one for $275ish. Man I wouldn't leave my house if i had one.. the posabilities.
I have no idea what a fair price would be man, i bought mine brand new here in the UK YEARS ago. $275 translates to about £140 which I would say would be a bargain dude! Go for it, its an awesome piece of kit to learn how to use fx on.
Just picked it up today. The guy was in a car accident so he couldn't use his guitar and stored the gt-6 for years, its like new. Bargained him to $250. I am stunted on what to learn first.. so many effects.(drolling).. lol. Thanks for the advice.
First thing u have to do is figure which way is the best way to hook it up to ur amp, to get the best from it. There are 3 ways I know of, and they all alter its effect on your guitar tone.
I just got a Berhinger ultra Wah, with a multi effects, and subed it through my Slow mo, and metal distortion, with the flanger all the way, OMG it is rich.
Well it is reverb, delay, and a few other effects that give the atmospheric noise, but the Multi Fx pedal (Boss GT6) is supplying all those effects. I have a load of other pedals hooked up, but only the GT6 is active in this vid.
I have loads of Epiphones. I have on many occasions looked at buying Gibsons, the build quality is SHOCKING at the moment! So wont be buying one unless I can pick up an old one. Probs going to buy a PRS Singlecut, better build quality for the money.
I dont have any Planet Wave patch cables dude, only signal cables.
Wasnt supposed to be special, its just me showing what u can do with the delay on the GT6 other than ur bog standard delay tones. Lets see some guitar posts from you.

its jsut not clear .. i know pod xt are amp modeler , so is behringer v-amp , but dunno about the boss gt-6 . does this unit have the basic boss pedal like superoverdrive sd-1 , overdrive , ds-1 etc.. ?
thx to anyone who can help . nice playing .
artifact26 3 years ago
Yeh u can use it with headphones dude. It has amp modelling software similar to the POD etc. It has pretty much every Boss pedal in production plus more within it, so all the overdrive pedals etc, + delays chorus etc.

I Bought a GT-6 about 2/3 years ago;I Don't use it much since 99% of the time i spend it playing with the settings more than I do playing...
notengoIQ 3 years ago
Hi man, how do you get the freaky sound at the beginning? LOVE IT! I have the gt-8 so normally it must be possible to get it. And wich amp do you simulate for the distortion? Or is it your line 6?
Axel666esp 3 years ago
I odnt use the GT6 or the Line 6 much anymore, but in this vid I am using the Line 6 overdrive sound. I never use the amp models or distortion models on the GT6 as I hook the GT6 up into my amps fx loop meaning the GT6 is in effect after the pre amp hence the amp models sound rubbish. Its delay and a few other fx at the start dude.

tanto pedal y tanto trasto de efectos y luego tienes una epiphone??? macho... haberte ahorrado todo eso y te pillas una gibson.... madre mia....
esnatu1 3 years ago
Yeh I can afford a Gibson.....I like Epiphones they are good guitars for the money, I have several. I bought a PRS Singlecut (hasnt appeared in vids yet, but will) which shits all over any Gibson Les Paul that is being manufactured at the moment. Gibson bild quality is poor at the moment IMO.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
that was SICK!!! Im about to get some kind of multi proccing thing but i dont know what to get
capufool 3 years ago
The Boss GT6 and GT8 are not bad really dude. I dont use mine much anymore, but its still a cool unit.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
The Line6 floorboard works good for volume control...cool delay sounds really neat

hi men, could you put the setting of the delay effect?please thanx
drakkoP 3 years ago
Its just a standard deoay with a high feedback setting. Have an experiment with it.

Whats best? Gt-6 or gt-8?
GuitarFosse 3 years ago
Need to find out what to buy of those.. Any ideas?
GuitarFosse 3 years ago
GT-8 is just the updated GT-6, it has some extra features. Read the specs on the Boss website
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
What do you think of the wah effects on the GT-6?
GuitarFosse 3 years ago
I dont use it. I dont really use the GT6 much anymore, but when I did i connected it via my amps fx loop so I turned off any eq, wah, pre amp and distortion effects as they sounded terrible in this method of connection.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
Aha lol, but do you think I should by a dunlop crybaby wah, and just have hundreds of pedals in stead of getting a multi?
GuitarFosse 3 years ago
Well thats what I have, check out my most recent videos. I use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb head + Hiwatt Lead 100 head thur a Mesa Boogie stereo 2x12 recto cab, with a butt load of pedals controlled by my Gig Rig Pro 14!
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
dude thats awesome its like some weird jimmy page and pink Floyd shit but it sounds great
2454627 3 years ago
Can you explain you set up?, I'm debating about adding some single effects to my GT-8 or getting some rack effects through its effect loop. Thanks
MusicMayHam89 3 years ago
My live setup is quite complicated dude. I use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Head for heavy and very heavy channels, and a vintage Hiwatt 100 Head for cleans and light overdrive. They are both connected to a Mesa Boogie Recto 2x12 with V30's via a Radial Headbone VT Head Switching unit, which is externally controlled ( as are my two heads, i.e channel switching, reverb on/off) by a Gig Rig Pro14.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
All my effects pedals are connected to the Gig Rig as seperate loops and are dropped in and out of the signal path by the switching system. I connect the fx loops of both amps thru this system, so i can select which pedals are connected to the direct input of the amp (thus in effect b4 the pre amp) and which effects r in use in the amps fx loop (this in effect between the pre amp and power amp stage). I dont really use my GT6 much in this setup, only on one set we play as I use the slicer fx.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
Hope that makes sense dude. You would need to check out the Radial ToneBone HeadBone VT and the Gig Rig Pro 14 to know what I am talking baout as they arent really mainstream units. If your looking to go rack, speak to my bandmates Gazpots and Meemawuk (you will find them in my subscriptions list, I only have 4), they both have Mesa Boogie setups with TC Electronic Rack effects, both sound bitchin. I am not the best on rack gear. Cheers, Craig

hey nice playing dude
i have a question though
im thinking of buying the boss re-20 but i was wondering if i could hook that effect after my gt-6 (from the R or L output. it would look like this:
guitar------>gt-6---->re-20----->amp
is that similar to what u have set up?
eko321 3 years ago
Yeh, delay should come 2nd last in any chain, last should be reverb dude.

hey dude i need your help. i put my gt6 in the loop of my krank head and the wah sounds like the volume is dead in the low frequency. is there a way to make it sound normal while it is in the amp's loop?
deorai77 3 years ago
Nop, it wont sound great in ur amps fx loop as it comes into effect after the pre amp stage. Ideally ur wah must be in effect between ur guitar signal and the pre amp stage, as it relies on the subtle dynamics of your playing to get that full sweep of the guitar frequencies from the wah, which is why the volume is dipping in the lower freqencies as the pre amp cant boost them as it is b4 the pedal in the signal path, so the wah filters them out completly as opposed to just colouring them
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
One of the drawacks of hooking it to the fx loop is the loss of the pre amp, dist box and wah options. There is a third way of connecting it, but I cant think of it off the top of my head
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
you look like Brad in Linkin park ;O nice (Y)
vinnst 3 years ago
i need your help dude. ive got a gt6, had it for 2 years and its never let me down. awesome pedal. only problem is im finding that im getting better distortion tones from the boss ds-1 pedal. is there any way i can link the two so that if i want to play distortion i can use the ds-1 distortion (by bypassing the gt6) and then using clean, crunch and every other modulation effect through the gt6?
jxd549 3 years ago
Mmmmm not sure about that one dude. I have never used the GT6 to control other pedals before, I reckon there is probs a way of doing it. What I used to do is connect the GT6 to my amps effects loop, and use only the delay, chorus reverb fx1 and fx2 functions. I would bypass the amp modelling, and overdrive sections, then use stomp boxes like the OD-3 or BD-2 for overdrive, or use theamps overdrive channel. Always sounded good. I dont like the GT6 overdrive tones.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
and that doesn't effect the tone? that sounds like a decent way of doing things. i have a super shifter (boss) which i am in love with. what would u recommend connecting that to? the FX loop with the GT6 or the input?
jxd549 3 years ago
Your tone will be much better, if u have a decent amp. The tone from the amp wont be altered to much by the GT6 pre amp models and distortion effetcs, meaning u can add delat phasers etc without losing the tone from your amp.
I would put the PS-5 after ur DS-1 connected to the direct input, then connect the GT6 via the amps fx loop.
I have sent u an email explaing a few other things
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
The GT8 is just the updated version of the GT6 dude. There a few extra features on the GT8, but nothing too drastic. I have a GT6 and one of my bandmates has a GT8, they are very similar. I would have a look at the Boss website, look at the extra features and if none of them make a big difference to u, pick up a GT6 at a good price
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
Thinking of picking one up from ebay.
Are there plenty of reverbs/delays? And how tweakable are they?
imdaltino 3 years ago
Delay wise u just have ur standard digital delay, which u can tweak to within ms. You setup stereo delay etc, and tweak level, feedback, time etc very well.
Reverb...it has the usual choice of reverbs..hall room, plate etc, and again allows u to tweak them in fairr detail.
Good pedal

that hella cool,
its a peaceful tone too.

whatever works best for ya bro. ya know, Dickey Betts formerly of the Allman Brothers was the first guitar player to use swells on "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and to this day many believe he started that whole phenom... I dig your gear mostly too. Your a good enough player to step into a Gibson and leave the Epi's behind. No dis-, just sayin'.
lathan1977 3 years ago
Yeh I have looked at Gibsons LP's recently, really poor build quality for the money at the moment. Havent played one that compares to some of my Epiphones with Seymour Duncans. Epi's r hit and miss but some are decent. I will probably buy a PRS singlcut or a Collins.
craigmcarthur1 3 years ago
the start was great.... awesome but why do you gotta play that shit at the end
DuulMan 4 years ago
why don't you use your volume pedal for the swells?
AmaranthDan 4 years ago
I have tried, and I do use a volume pedal for alot of other swells on other tracks we play, but for some reason this effect works better using the guitar volume knob....dont ask me why!
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
thats awesome dude. thats a pretty big effects setup you got there.
ibnz93 4 years ago
you use only the boss gt in this movie?
thozol 4 years ago
Yup, GT6 (only) into the effects loop of my amp.
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
this will also work for a bass right?
RLY3000 4 years ago
There is a bass pedal equivalent, the GT6B,which will be able to produce similar effects yes.

I want a boss gt6 so bad. What do you think is a fair price for a used one? I found one for $275ish. Man I wouldn't leave my house if i had one.. the posabilities.
wnpgguy 4 years ago
I have no idea what a fair price would be man, i bought mine brand new here in the UK YEARS ago. $275 translates to about £140 which I would say would be a bargain dude! Go for it, its an awesome piece of kit to learn how to use fx on.
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
Just picked it up today. The guy was in a car accident so he couldn't use his guitar and stored the gt-6 for years, its like new. Bargained him to $250. I am stunted on what to learn first.. so many effects.(drolling).. lol. Thanks for the advice.
wnpgguy 4 years ago
First thing u have to do is figure which way is the best way to hook it up to ur amp, to get the best from it. There are 3 ways I know of, and they all alter its effect on your guitar tone.
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
You bargained a cripple down for just $15 less? Bad man
telecasterthommy 4 years ago
Good price, mine was 140 Pounds on eBay.Amazing machine. There's one for 199 Dollars on eBay right now!!!

Saved the goods for the end, huh??
I just got a Berhinger ultra Wah, with a multi effects, and subed it through my Slow mo, and metal distortion, with the flanger all the way, OMG it is rich.
Peter07Pal 4 years ago
Nice one dude have fun with it!
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
Is the multi effect pedal giving you that atmorspheric sound or just all your reverbs and delays?
sunshinesmiles225 4 years ago
Well it is reverb, delay, and a few other effects that give the atmospheric noise, but the Multi Fx pedal (Boss GT6) is supplying all those effects. I have a load of other pedals hooked up, but only the GT6 is active in this vid.
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
planet waves patch cord? You really like the epiphones eh? sell them both and get a GREAT gibson!
MoanaLindsey 4 years ago
I have loads of Epiphones. I have on many occasions looked at buying Gibsons, the build quality is SHOCKING at the moment! So wont be buying one unless I can pick up an old one. Probs going to buy a PRS Singlecut, better build quality for the money.
I dont have any Planet Wave patch cables dude, only signal cables.
craigmcarthur1 4 years ago
I dont get it What was so special about that? Not bad but very normal.
zoid1964 4 years ago
Wasnt supposed to be special, its just me showing what u can do with the delay on the GT6 other than ur bog standard delay tones. Lets see some guitar posts from you.
