Spiderman doesn't suck, his moves are pretty good. Hit web bullets do good damage at low energy cost, and they aren't taxed by elemental resistance properties on enemies. He can also hold enemies in place so allies can abuse them. He can move around pretty fast, and his throw maneuver offers up a great way to stun enemies, and earn extra exp with combos.

Sorry, if you're looking for a review, you aren't going to find it on these comment boards. They don't allow the required character space for text input for a review that the game would require. Needless to say, these videos are plentiful, and you should be able to muster up an opinion or four by checking them out. Yeah, there'll be spoilers, but simply put, Marvel fan die-hard, or newbie, this is a great game to have. It works all around for comic fans. Doesn't push too hard, plays great.

well.. i don't agree with u.. he's equally powerful or even more (just try blade cyclone with battle cry).. and the outfit, i choosed the classic, but if u have problem to survive with him choose Weapon X outfit (and crit + Bl.Cyclone = fun)

my advice for powers:

-Blade Cyclone (for the mobs)

-Assassin Strike (one-on-one)

-Battle Cry (yay! damage boost)

There are more than a few that can survive easier on their lonesome. Iron Man, Ms.Marvel, Captain America, and possibly Wolverine are the ones that come to mind. Iron Man and Marvel' have super strength, can fly, and can shoot powerful range/area attacks. Wolverine is tough as nails, has super strength (pretty much), and his rage most is devestating. Cap's bash dash, and shield throw are also pretty good for nullifying single opponensts, so you can conentrate on another.

Spiderwoman is good at crowd control. Her ensnare ability will come in really handy in those situations. Her flight ability allows her to avoid the big guys which could give her trouble, and max out her venom blast. Plus she can heal teammates, and that's always a plus.

IMHO, Storm, Captain America, Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman could all function fairly well solo if you remember to block and be defensive when you need to. I've been down to only one of these four before and made it through tough situations. Each has powers that allow them to do massive crowd control and clear their immediate areas, like Cap's shield throw.

All the videos I put up are from the PS2. The PS3/360 versions look much much better. PC actually looks the best, but the controller options are horrible. Instead of smooth 16 directional movement zones, you're given 8, so simply moving around looks very choppy on PC. ;(
