I loved this song from the moment I heard it. As a teenager it shaped my ideas of what love was about, something beautiful and intense. It's my favourite song but still an obscure one.
Im admittedly humbled by the number of comments and knowing that over 200 000 times this video has been seen here, I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to post comments and watching.
um, siouxsie sioux did NOT appear on the glove... have you ever actually heard it? and why would you advise someone to seek out the cassette when it's readily available on cd?
Sioux will never take a back seat to Morrissey, he is a child and she is an adult. Sioux would just as soon stab him than allow a sell out in the same recording studio. He is lucky that his lifetime is blessed to have Sioux's voice on that track.
What's amazing is Morrissey & Siouxsie would pick up on a song most of their fans would never know. The original, as mentioned earlier, was recorded beautifully by Timi Yuro in 1968. Yuro is one of the most under-rated vocalists in history. She could easily be mentioned in the same breath as Aretha Franklin & Dusty Springfield. Watch her live YouTube video of "You'll Never Walk Alone," on Dutch television or to her hit "Hurt." Morrissey & Siouxsie did do an excellent cover.
well i read siouxsie's biography, and instead it was a heated discussion on the cover - morrissey insisted on a bulldog, a stereotypical and somewhat dodgy symbol of england, and siouxsie, being opposed to any sort of nationalism, objected.
she left the studio for a drink when someone morrissey sent after her told her the collaboration was over. she, understandingly, thought morrissey was a tosser for not having the guts to tell her himself.
oh well, when queens collide.. the song's nice though.
@mrhelterskelter ....Well I know their was some heated discussion about something but .....Morrissey would never put a BULL DOG on a cover if you seen any of his covers ,their not plain.. So The Bull Dog part I think is B.S .... I wish they would have sang this song live would have been awesome hate when artists have a falling out when they just put out a awesome song.
@Griff1319 I also heard the same story from the photographer of the famous skinhead girls photo Moz used as a backdrop and t-shirts around Your Arsenal time (which he was never credited or paid for)
I was reading some news items on the internet and there was an article about the best/worst duets. This was I think one of the top 5 BEST duets. The paragraph made mention about how polar opposites the two artists are yet what a great song came out of them.Never heard of this song or the two singers. Had to hear it, and I like it.Very haunting.
Not only two of the greatest singers from one of the greatest era's ever, but the most instantly recogizable voices ever. Which is a rare quality nowadays.
They werent intending for a matched vocal harmony, its obvious that they both have very distinct vocals.i think they show how two real persons would sound if they were singing two each other from across a distance and yet singing the same song.xo
I agree. Both have amazing voices but they don't match very well together. It would have been better if Morrissey did this one on his own but Souxie's voice did kind of add a 1950's quality to the song which was well matched with the video's black and white format.
well, it's ten over ten years old now, so the dollar bin isn't really insulting at this point. honestly, if you're going to be insulting, make sure you're effectively insulting.

It was all about who's name would be first.
Morrissey and Siouxie or Siouxie and Morrissey.
