Davey's voice sounds like silk in this song, and then everything behind it just sounds so perfect and relaxing, like a sad lullyby, the bass harmonizing perfectly with the guitar... Sometimes, when I'm really upset, it IS my lullyby. It can make everything bad just go away, pushed away by all the warm light of this song. It brings a smile to my face, and then I sleep softly after it's played a few times...

He does have the Low end on his guitar turned up for sure and he is barring pretty much the lowest part of the 6th string so yeah its definatley covering the bass part. But if you listen there is certainly no "Bass line" except for the root or walkup to the next chord. Im sure the Bass player would be a little more extravegent than that :). To an untrained ear, yes it would sound like there is bass.

@MrJoeBH It's not a bass. It's a very basic E minor chord progression with a mixture of open chords and bar chords. He also has two guitar tracks playing the same thing to add fullness. It's mainly the guitar tone that makes it sound so complex and low pitched. The actual progression is easy to play.
