  • This is a half-time shuffle not a cut time shuffle .... what gives?

  • great video

  • Wow! I luv all of the variations. I thought I knew all of them....not! Great Job!

  • holy cow he's a rapid talker...with a fly by semester of drum

    knowledge

  • Wally taught me this back in the day and wouldn't let me quit til I got it. Good examples of this one are "Babylon Sisters" and "Home At Last" -Steely Dan with (Bernard Purdie), "These Chains" and "Rosanna" by Toto (master of half time Jeff Porcaro) and "Fool In the Rain" - (Bonham) of Zepplin. Love this groove. You all should hear Wally play this in various odd meters as well. Amazing.

  • is that a bass guitar i see?!? can i have it? pleeeeease?

  • while watching this video i was doing the same thing and at some point i got lost and just to figure out that there's a little bit delay on the sound that's why..hope that in the next videos it'll be better...cool groove.thanks

  • A note on the third form--the one with the jazz ride pattern.

Before you add the accent, it is an inverted paradiddle-diddle:

    RLLRLR RLLRLR RLLRLR...

played as 8th-note triplets. (The un-inverted version starts on the second R.)

So if you already know the paradiddle-diddle, you might find this a good place to start.

  • great thanks

  • i like how at 0:26, he looks like "oh yeah... did u see that? I just owned all of you... and wait... let me mention my name..."

  • technique,nice

  • Good Video! I really liked the sound of the bass drum. Was it muffled, or was that just the natural sound from the drumhead?

  • Correct- Bonham's Cut-time shuffle is on the "Fool In The Rain."

    Wally

  • @DRUM Is there a difference between cut-time and half-time shuffle or are they the same? i've heard FOTR was a half time shuffle.

  • doesnt Bonham use that shuffle pattern in one of his songs?

  • fool in the rain i think its a bit differnt since its mainly on the hi hat

  • hes playing mainly on the hi-hat
