  • On the subject of Gaius Baltar, he, of his own free will, gave up a life as the head of a cult full of diverse and very sexy kinds of women willing to do whatever he wanted for him to go save a little girl who was kidnapped to be diced up into little pieces and studied. How bad of a guy can he really be?

  • My favorite song out of the entire BSG soundtrack - period.

  • Whenever I meet someone who says they didn't like Baltar, all I have to do is reply right back with, "Dude fucked a table."

  • James Callis is a great great actor. Can you imagine the various characteristics of Gaius Baltar he had to do, with real and 'imaginary' people too? I once read that he even tried an 'Adama impersonation' during a take in 'Pegasus' when Edward Olmos wasn't around for the take and he perform it so good everyone cant help not to start laughing

  • I love the last part starting at 3:48 when it really starts to rock!

  • @Unclesamslair Exactly! it reaches a whole new level of amazing!

  • eerie and beautiful

  • Baltar and Tigh were the most human characters of the series. If I were God I would forgive them both of their sins.

  • @masteraj57 Actually calling Tigh a human character is quite paradox. But I agree to you! ;)

  • Genius.

    -end of line-

  • that wasn't accidental.

  • I'm not sure why, but Gaius seems to me like he is supposed to be the origin of the Christ archetype in the Galactica Universe.

    Probably just the facial features.

  • @Voyksed No your kinda right he plays Christ in a Bible quizzing movie for the book of John.

  • Gaius Baltar for president!

  • Magical!

  • This fits the whole ending of the series perfectly! We see Baltar and the women in a futuristic setting and as this music plays through that pivotal scene, it sounds so positively ancient! I love that combination. It's very primal and the dissonant voices in the beginning make my hairs stand on end, in a good way. The voices are incredible. The whole composition is superb and I can't begin to explain how much I like this!

  • I think I liked Baltar the most, and in the end to see him come to terms with his past was the most gratifying to me. He overcame his flaws of weakness more then anyone in the end. While everyone else had an inner strength that came to the surface after the destruction of the colonies Baltar had to remove so many layers to find his strength. I find that admirable about him.

  • @smcneal057 Totally. And the bit at the end where he chokes up as he mentions his knowledge of farming, and Six's reaction...that killed me!

  • świetny utwór, jeden z najlepszych, mroczny ale napawający nadzieją

  • For me this is the best best piece of music from all the seasons of BSG! I remember first watching the scene in season 4 when Baltar walks into the room with all the women and this music playing in the background! The music made it such an amazing scene! The last minute or so of this track is simply amazing! Such a beautiful piece of music!! Ok that's enough compliments! LOL. Gonna go blast it in my car now.

  • @Beerbottles123 how did you get the special characters?

  • @Voyksed copypaste them form bear mcrearry's blog

  • So Say We All

  • anyone know what language this is?

  • I'd guess Latin, heard her say 'Deus' :b

  • @TausMunk the "deus" you heard was actually "Gaius"

  • @TausMunk the "deus" you heard was actually "Gaius"

  • its pre-english. anglo-saxon, i think

  • @PeopleOfAr Old English (Anglo Saxon)

  • @PeopleOfAr Old English (Anglo Saxon)

  • Baltar, what a Schmuck, but without him there would have been no conflict... he wan't the only person who worked on the defense mainframe... he was just sought out after the cylons probably noticed what a slave to his compulsions he was. Baltar's main short-coming, if you want to call it that was his curiosity... lol he was a scientist after all and what scientist would turn down some hot ass.

  • I really liked Baltar actually.. He made mistakes, but they really weren't his fault. It was just human nature for the position he was in to react the ways he did.

The only dumb thing he did was not tell Adama that Sharon was a fraking cylon

  • Baltar was the greatest role in the series. I think I have a bit of his DNA. If that's so, I'd also have the mitochondrial DNA of six. But that's imossible since Hera poses the role of EVE and is the only half human/cylon. So I can't make my own cylon clone of six. But I could of eight!

    If only I'd knew how....

  • Horses for courses. It's my most favourite.

  • Honestly, this is my least favorite track on the soundtrack. Maybe it's just that I wasn't that into the cult of baltar story in the first place. It just feels like a weird track to me. It is a well composed piece. I just don't feel it's mood like the rest. But the drums in the second half sorta make up for it.

  • I quite like it actually. It starts out a bit weird but then quickly gets better and better.

  • i liked that after finding nuked earth that more and more characters started to gravitated towards baltar and his sermons

  • And he is human

  • probably the most human character in the whole show.

  • It was only 20 billion ;)

  • HAHAHAA

  • baltar was the sole reason why the cylons gained the access codes to disable the battlestar/viper fleets in the first place, for the mass genocide of the human race, I deem him evil, although he redeems himself a tiny little TINY bit, he is still ultimately in a sort of moral purgatory, still I wouldn't mind seeing him executed for the justice of those that have been laid to rest, why do I still like him? I don't know... Maybe it's becuase he gets all the best character themes :P

  • Evil? Evil doesn't express remorse over ones actions. For the amount of intelligence Baltar had, he was a like a child. Innocent in many ways, and dictated by his passions. But he was anything but evil.

  • well when you cause the genocide of your entire race save for a few thousand, I'd call that a just a little bit evil..

  • I don't think you understand what evil means. If he knew what the outcome of his mistake would be, then you may have a point. Negligence isn't the same as evil. And it was painfully obvious that he had remorse over what happened. Again, not the trait of someone that's inherently even, even by the loosest of definitions.

  • I'm being technical about this because you're slinging a word around as if it has multiple meanings. Sometimes they do; but in this situation, it's no applicable.

Now if you had said that you thought Baltar should pay for his negligence with his life, that'd be different. But you made a value judgment of his soul, and then clarified your feelings on the matter.

Baltar is not evil. If he is, then so is Lee for letting evil live; as are every one else around him.

  • nah lees just an idiot, baltar is evil and um your not changing my view on that kthxbye

  • Oh. Okay. I picture you with your index fingers shoved in your ears going lalalalalalalalala!

  • LOL! pretty much

  • man you act like a child. normally I just read the comments and scoff at the stupid ones, but your emotional dedication to being right is unwavering. you perfectly fit the quote at the beginning, ya know the "you have an amazing capacity for self deception, how do you do that?" and no, Baltar is not evil. If he had any inkling of a hint that his actions would of resulted in what they had, then he wouldn't of done it. period. begin to consider the fact, it is humanly possible, that you are wrong

  • Why don't we just enjoy the music? Baltar is an interesting FICTIONAL character. Not evil, but not a good person. Bear McCreary, meanwhile, is a genius composer!

    So Say We All!

  • @Hodge329 Swa we ġehwilc ġehalsiaþ.

  • @Hodge329 SO SAY WE ALL!

  • look I can give up all the other stuff,

I don't care much about that,

but, how can you know that you're willfully seeking ignorance, and be okay with that? that's what I want to know. doesn't it bug you in some way?

  • haha, actually, you're the one who sounds like they think they know everything, telling me what a "stuck up asshole" I am, even though you've never met me, and, telling me I "think I know everything", which means that apparently, a dispute over battlestar means I know everything

the only thing that bugs me is your smile at the end, proving the fact that you really do want me to feel pain by calling me an asshole. but it's nice to know you like the idea of causing me pain

    haha, thanks

  • Baltar was stupid, not evil. He thought the 6 worked for a Caprican defense firm that was working on new automation software for Caprica's orbital defense network. She basically told him he'd be giving her company an advantage over others who were working on the same kind of thing. She probably also promised him lots of hot monkey sex. ;-) It's a monumentally stupid mistake, but it wasn't *evil*. That word gets thrown around waaay too much...

  • I wouldn't say he was stupid per se, he was weak. A weak character was Baltar's greatest flaw. He wasn't evil, he wasn't stupid ... he just more often than not found it very hard to do the *right thing*.

All in all, BSG without Baltar just wouldn't have worked. And James Callis' acting was some of the finest on the show, which is twice the compliment it sounds because the acting in BSG was of a very high quality in general ... IMHO :)

  • "...Right."

Beautiful chanting and melody. Very otherworldly.

  • So say we all!

  • This is SO Beautiful.

  • thank you

  • For those of you not familiar with archaic English letters:

Ƿ ƿ = Wynn (w, looks too much like a p which is why it was scrapped)

    Ȝ ȝ = Yogh (g, sounds like y in some words)

Þ þ = Thorn (th, was used into middle English but scrapped because printers didn;t have the letter)

Ð ð = Eth, or "That" (th, usually only between vowels)

ſ = long s, s at the beginning or in the middle of a word

  • The translation:

    We gather in shadow,

    Beneath your altar,

Your image in blood and flame.

    By your command, deliver us

    Unto the One True God.

    Gaius Baltar, our divine savior

    Now and for eternity.

    So say we all.

  • Baltar was so awesome...Like a ghost drifting beyond good and evil

  • Good, evil, we created those things, you know. God isn't on any one side...
