The original Ventures lineup! Nokie Edwards was one hell of a bass player, and Bogle had a purity of tone and that gorgeous vibrato... it's really a treat to hear them do this again after so many years!
I'm 62 and they're still my fav. I was in a band in the 60's and bought a MOSRITE bass guitar in 1964 because that's what they played back then. I have at least 10 of their LPs and many CDs and one video.
I literally stumbled on them looking for walk don't run herb alpert... it was a day of immense pain; this music healed me so profoundly i thought i was in heaven.. then they stayed in my brain.. they are perfect and beautiful and so talented and gracious. I'm 47 and they are all there is now..
The fact that they are treated like gods over in Japan makes me shake my head why their own country never excepted them like that... like previous posters have said, these guys influenced so many guitarist and should have been inducted years ago... I am one of their biggest fans and only 41 years old. The thing that sold me on the Ventures was their clean tone, their perfect timing, and their ability to take a song that was already done , take away the words and still add flare and make it a hit
@stratman2500 Dude, I'm 19 years old, the age doesn't matter, they are also my favourite band, I'm one their biggest fans, and like you, I love how they play, their music have some kind of magic, so clean, so perfect, and also, they don't need words to express a feeling, they just need their instruments.
I have listen to these guys since i was in grade school and I am 60 yrs young and still listen to then today. Their music will never grow old. Long live The Ventures.
i've been the ventures fan since only 5 years now but day after day i discover their beautiful music i love them and love surf music in general my favorites
