  • This was depressing in a good sense, I liked it

  • I should have typed in top "good" sad songs of all time.

  • I didn't watch all of them but Creep by Radiohead should have been #1

  • you are crazy, you don't know anything about music

  • you are crazy, you don't know anything about music

  • Fuck you

The Long And Winding Road is one of the best Beatles songs; Look the naked version

  • Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley?

  • stairway to heaven???

  • I'd replace "Wish You Were Here" with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I–V)".

  • What about Hurt by Johnny Cash?

  • @mrc560 thats contrey not rock but that is relly sad song

  • Hey guys, stop this bullshit about what songs should go up, I'm getting tired of it.

And, I think these are all sad songs!

  • I would never peg fade to black as sad. I would peg nothing else matters as sad.

  • when I hear here without you, I think of Eddie Guerrero. they used that song in his tribute, and I always tear up when I hear it

  • MAD World by the lead singer of REM

  • black- pearl jam

  • Comfortably Numb is about heroine, Every Breath You Take is just plain creepy, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing is about watching a girl sleep after having sex with her. Suggestions:

    Dream Theater- Disappear

    Iced Earth- Watching Over Me

    Led Zeppelin- All My Love

  • @ReaperWEare Oh yeah, but stalking is kind of love. ;3

  • @rere60610 hahaha in the restraining order kind of way. :)

  • how do you find november rain sad because i find it good not sad

  • I wouldn't consider "I dont want to miss a thing" a sad song Id say more like romantic, maybe you should do a list of the 30 most romantic rock songs and that song along with sweet child o mine could be there

and by the way I think "love hurts" by nazareth couldve been in this list, that song is so depressing jaja but its a good song

  • Great list but for me, The saddest song of all time is Bruce Springsteen-Racing in the street

  • Hello to the uploader... thank you very much for your work. Your pick for With or without you by U2 and Everybody Hurts by REM to the top 5 was amazing selection because those two songs are really great both it's lyrics and music....I dedicate the song Everybody Hurts by REM and The Corrs for my FATHER who just pass away last April 3 2011 Sunday 4 am Philippine time.

  • where is jeremy by pearl jam?

  • Avenged Sevenfold- So Far Away

  • No Nothing Compares to You by Sinead O'Connor!?!?

  • Comment removed

  • Shine on you crazy Diamond

  • pink floyd

  • Okay, no offence, i love a lot of your choices, but HOW IN GOD'S NAME IS EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE SAD? It's a love song, a very good one at that, but it's too poppy to be sad. Buckley, the Fray, Dire Straits, and 3 Doors Down deserved to be higher than it at least.

  • @cryszofthescots actually every breath you take is not a love song, it's about a stalker. but i agree with you, not a very sad song

  • @januschii Well you COULD say a Stalker loves his target. It's a much MUCH different type of love, though. Much creepier.

  • "Angel" Judas Priest

  • #1 METALLICA!! he should of put all metallica songs on there as #1 because they all have meanings and good lyrics THUMBS UP FOR METALLICA FOR LIFE!!

  • @jbisafillefille You know you're painting an image of yourself as a Metallica fanboy, one of the most annoying and thick people in Metal. Just thought you should know. Next time fill your laud of one of the best metal bands with a little less personal bias and exaggeration.

  • Nutshell!!!!!! I fuckin get choked up when I hear that song!!!

  • Where's Radiohead?

  • On Pearl Jam you should have switched "Last Kiss" with "Yellow Ledbetter"

  • I knew Tears in Heaven was gonna be #1. I would have been pissed if it wasn't.

  • Hallelujah, The Best.

  • Loved seeing Pink Floyd Wish You Were here and Pearl Jam Last kiss on this list people always forget those.

  • As for Randy Rhoads, I like "Mr Crowly" better.

  • Led Zeppelin - Thank You

  • For Metallica: "Unforgiven" or "Unforgiven II" would work too

  • no man you really thing that "the fray" should be in the top 30 :S

  • metallica - mama said

  • ok pretty damn good man, ya got me with The Long and Winding Road....

  • where the F is still loving you?

  • piano man - billy joel (;

  • i would have put sound of silence by simon and garfunkel in there somewhere. but otherwise, good job

  • I would have loved to see Talk tonight by Oasis on here - but it's a really good list because it is very hard to create such a list.

  • @Tomasch agreed

  • Great selection of songs on this list :)

  • glycerine. heart shaped box. free bird (maybe not free bird, it isn't THAT sad)... anyway i really like this guy cuz as far as "music countdown" videos go, i'd say this guy is the best - he draws from a wide range of genres unlike these other videos i've seen where everysingle song is heavy metal or old school or something. This guy understands that rock music is a vast genre and that there's a huge variety of skilled rock musicians. Keep up the nice work!

  • @BrewWaits

u realize all of those arent even rock except guns n roses right??

  • Here without you would definitely make my list, along with red - Pieces, Less Than Jake - Rest of my Life and a few others [:

  • SIMPLE MAN - LYNYRD SKYNYRD

  • Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing

  • Can't argue with #1...

  • wish you were here - pink floyd

  • I miss some of these:

Deep Purple - Soldier of fortune

    Pearl Jam - Black

    Alice In Chains - Nutshell

    Tool - Wings for Marie

  • WTF!??!?!? Queen - The Show Must Go On is on the list and not "Who Wants To Live Forever"? I mean, sure the show must go on might be a better song overall, but sadness...damn..you should at least give "Who Wants To Live Forever" a listen through..

  • hallelujah can bring many to tears

  • The world saddest song is "Still Got the Blues" by Gary Moore. This is a song that simply impails you with a feeling of deep pain and grief. How it differs from other sad songs is that it lacks an air of contemplative resignation or conciliatory acceptance of loss like most sad songs. Instead It takes you inside the emotional injury itself. This is not a song to play if you recently had your guts ripped out in a relationship. All it does is to amplify that feeling which is not good.

  • @thepaulypaul1 What greek song are you talking about? I know what you mean; people become touched with melancholia.

  • Some songs that weren't on the list that should've been are AC/DC-"Ride On", Lynyrd Skynyrd-"Simple Man", Free-"Love You So", B.B. King-"Chains And Things", Bad Company-"Ready Love", The Band-I Shall Me Released", Blue Rodeo-"Try", Fleetwood Mac-"Landslide", Grand Funk Railroad "Destitute & Losin", Guess Who-"Laughing", Jackson Browne-"Running On Empty", Ozzy-"See You On The Other Side", The Stones-"Gimme Shelter"/"Angie", Tom Petty-"Southern Accents", Tragically Hip-"Wheat Kings",

  • How is The Show Must Go On only #8. it deserves to be #1. Admit it, nothing is sadder than someone singing about the fact that they're dying...

  • love will tear us apart ?

    sonnet? (you know the verve!)

always? (i for me it is sad)

radiohead? (they have a lot of sad songs)

  • more than words?

    this ain't a love song?

    woman?

  • radio head - creep ??

  • I woulda actually put some radiohead in there, but thats just me. Good work on the list.

  • @xXMaidenVnaXx i didnt mean under the bridge i just tought on a red hot chilli peppers song, but i think one is a sad song and way sadder than the oness on the freaking list.

  • Two Out of Three Ain't Bad?

  • the saddest song ive probly heard in rock category is fall into pieces by velvot revoulver

  • Where is:

    Let it be

    American pie

  • @thebestanswer2 Well, Let it Be is more of a song about hope, despite being about Paul's dead mother.

  • How the hell is Sweet Child Of Mine a sad song ? And Avenged Sevenfold can suck me lad

  • @KILLEMALL69888 so your calling yourself avenged seven folds groupie now?

  • @KILLEMALL69888 fuck you don't diss A7X

    3.Guns N Roses-Sweet Child O Mine

    4.Avenged Sevenfold-Strength of The World

5.Linkin Park-The Little Things Give You Away

and Other Songs That Sound Sad

  • I think Whiter Shade of Pale is by far the most depressing song I've ever heard. Everytime I hear it, it just make me feel odd on the inside.

  • where is american pie by Mclean ?

  • новый канал ??? (beatles)

  • pink floyd - shine on you crazy diamond

  • Bohemian Rhapsody?

  • tears in heaven is the best, but like where is from Metallica - Nothing Else matters... or from John Bon Jovi - Always.... I'm really sorry, but those are also some really sad songs :(

  • Personally, I would have put "Yesterday" higher on the list.

  • Hey I just say your best of the 80s and I am surprised with glee that you have some good sad songs. And you knew to include John Lennon's Jealous Guy and Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale. Last Kiss .. good. Elton John's saddest love song is "Come down in Time" not his later slock. Great No 3 with Sam Cooke's "A Change is gonna Come". You leave out so many eerie haunting songs .. But otherwise a great wonderful list.

  • Really like your list but a few I would recommend:

    1. Mad World by Gary Jules

    2. Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues

    3. Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead (or basically any Radiohead song- depressing bang really)

  • i like the list but no aqualung?

  • omfg... i was watching the vid and i was like... will he really not have tears in heaven? well i don't agree with all the songs u put in the vid but i agree that by far the saddest rock song that has been written is tears is heaven...

  • great vid man!
