Death Crimson OX is based on the Japan-only Death Crimson 2, which was the sequel to the awful Saturn game Death Crimson. Also released in Japanese arcades on the NAOMI board, as an upgrade kit to The House of the Dead 2. This game's competent, but HoTD2 and Confidential Mission are still better.

@UtotBoomTae Yeah. I remember that it was heavily criticized for QTEs by a lot of magazines at the time. We are in 2011 and i see QTEs in a LOT of games.

@UtotBoomTae yes yu suzuki coined the term QTE with shenmue but the first games to have them was technically Dragon's Lair.

@UtotBoomTae dragons lair early 90s arcade game had qte maybe the first game to do it,but shenmue did it very well and brought it back

Love HD but the widened aspect ratio really kills the atmosphere of all the games. The composition is all messed up and some of the geometry doesn't draw.

@owlman113 Look at the amount of Yakuza games that have been released, yet no Shenmue 3 which is virtually the same sort of game.

Shenmue has a far deeper combat system - yakuza is a straight beat-em-up with little to no finess required

Shenmue also looks far better (look at the detail on the yokosuka chapter and note that everything has little details drawn in) - Strip away the HD crap and Shenmue 1 looks far more polished than any yakuza game on ps2 (by leaps and bonds) and about equal to yakuza 3 (only with more detail)

@rrrevan yeah isnt that ridiculous keep in mind both shenmue 1 and 2s graphics were pretty much created in 1998 so thats 13 years ago and look how amazing it still looks.

It was a labor of love....only a mad genius like yu suzuki would have his graphic designers work hundreds of hours to make sure every shop has specific posters, textures, glasses, plates etc etc.

@borobengal thats because shenmue was released at a failing system so sales were low....yakuza was on ps2(the best selling system of all time).

@AhmedHazuki So why no Shenmue 3 on current consoles or even on the PS2 or Xbox when they was current consoles? That's the point I was trying to make. Shenmue and Yakuza are sort of similar, Shenmue is a deeper game I'll admit.

@borobengal well sorry just bumped into this question again and let me clear it up for you....the foalition for shenmue is still costing SEGA money which means that they cannot take another risk making shenmue three then failing again or sega will end up back where they started because they just started picking up ever since 09 so its to early to say but maybe when SEGA has as Much money as Activision does....they dont mind it losing a 100 million.

@borobengal because nobody appreciates games like these there loss really.these games are artistic videogame masterpieces. an underground game that is still a technical marvel, maybe with the future of technology this game will get more recognition like most great things do over time,a good start would be for xbox live to make both games available for 5 dollars each or something like that to get exposure,yu sazuki is getting the rights again for the series so thats something.

@dannymadness1 but id say the likelyhood of a part 3 getting made is about as likely as the average citizen not getting screwed out of everything in the coming years...so not bloody likely at all, but will see in the meantime anyone with a supercomputer get the emulator and rom!
