I have just done a fun video called "History of pop in 100 riffs" , and this is one of the riffs featured in it - i love this song so had to include it.
Please check out the video on my piano and take the challenge to see if you can name the famous keyboard riffs ;)
Hope you keep on making these kind of videos , as i wish youtube was about when i took up the piano / keyboard.
All the best, and please have a look at my new vid
To those who commented about hearing the voice, use it like they do in the recording studio as a guide vocal when singing...this is awesome because it lets the beautiful production shine through and you can hear instruments that are buried in the original mix...thanks for the post.
I remember first hearing this timeless song as a child and in those days I often couldn't make out lyrics or understand them so what struck me was the piano. It was one of those galvanizing, otherworldly moments - and then the strings and whip-cracks came in and my mind was... well it was "spinning in infinity"... HALLELUJAH!
@crab368 Thats called "bleed". The voice has gotten into the piano recording (through the piano microphone) and its near impossible to totally "get rid" of. The only way to minimise the sound of it is to lower the sound registers of the voice which would also affect the sound of the piano too.
@090greengirl I totally agree. Although both Simon and Garfunkel had awesome voices, it's nice to hear what a song sounds like without their vocals, just the music.

Garfunkel's vocal comes through a little too much on verse 2. I know there are limits to the technology.
