Hey whitney what do think about all the games developed post SH4? Given there stories are full of inconsistencies and major flaws and alot of harcore SH fans do not consider them to be cannon to the series.

@shhistoricalsociety sho cant be cannon. The otherwold didnt exist until Cheryl and harry enterd the town (dr Kaufmann states in sh1 that the strange things hapining are a "new phenomenon." Also alessa apeares by the truck at the begining wich is also imposible as the soul split didnt happen untill the end of origins. Origins is supposed to be set 7 years before sh1 in the year 1976. But the car harry drives didnt exist untill 1987 so the earliest sho could have taken place is 1980.

@GoreDepeche You can't rely on car models to date a game. The otherworld existed before Alessa, as it can manifest anywhere and it's power lies in human minds. This is why LM states that the prisoner's also had an effect before Alessa was born on imprinting the town. Since it was "Alessa's nightmare" she was in a coma and was in the otherworld for 7 years anyway, living her nightmare. Stated in SH1 and 3 btw, if you're wondering.

An after alessa had been kept alive for 7 years in pain her nightmares eventually were projected onto the town only when cheryl arived. Nothing would have happend if cheryl hadnt reunited with her other half. Remember the spiritual power lay dormant untill the cults practices awoke it. Even tomm hulet the games producer said there were some inconsistancies.

It explains 3 perfectly and how the otherworld is not limited to the town in Homecoming. Alessa did nothing but shift it enough to make the power unstable, as seen with 2. Have you looked at the source material outside of Twin perfect? Come to your own conclusions?

The sign says Old Silent Hill is 50 miles away from James' current position. When you look at how SH2's map is supposed to connect to SH1's map you'd noticed Old Silent Hill can't be 50 miles away from where James is. That's a contradiction to SH1. So going by your logic should we disregard SH2 from the series canon?

@GoreDepeche Downpour looks great, but even if there are some inconsistencies in the newer games that's not enough justification to render them non canon. Two Silent Hill fans who make a bunch of youtube videos are never to going to change the fact that regardless of whether or not they approve Homecoming and Origins are of course part of the storyline canon.

And there are no underlining rules of what a Silent Hill game should be. Just many different fans with different ideas of what Silent Hill is supposed to be.

In fact Origins was collaborated with the original team Silent who corrected them. Tom has insider connections and does know what he is talking about. No fan can claim a game isn't canon because they don't like it, they do not have that authority.

@GoreDepeche Silent Hill was doing weird stuff before Alessa. I'm confident there were previous visitors the Otherworld due to all the "mysterious" disappearances over years before SH1 took place. The town was messed up before she even came into the picture. It's on sacred Native American land and according to Lost Memories the "mysterious rituals" (cont)

conducted there back in the 1600's still holds power over the town today. Proof of some of the weirdness: In the 1700's after Europeans settled there a mysterious epidemic broke out and the town was abandoned. Later in the 1800's the town was resettled and became a penal colony but after the Civil war people started to mysteriously disappear one after the other.

In 1918 A sightseeing ship (Little Baroness) went missing on the lake and was never found. In 19XX The mayor of Silent Hill died suddenly, and then those involved in the development of the "new" town and part of his staff died accidental deaths... So lots of weirdness!

As for the projection by the truck. Alessa had powers I'm sure she could astral project herself and could do that before the soul splitting. As for Harry's car I don't put a lot of stock in that being proof the game didn't occur seven years before Silent Hill one. It could have just been an error or they preferred the look of that jeep model. If Konami *says* a game is canon (even with it's flaws) I will consider it canon.

I know it's frustrating but with so many teams working on these games I've come to expect there's going to be errors XD But if you don't feel it's canon that's fine too lol That's what is cool about SH we can really pick and choose what we think is canon. Therefore, bringing cars into the equation when you're talking about the timeline doesn't work because you don't know the developers' intentions aren't made clear.
