  • Blowgun aiming tip: to aim your blowgun accurately (left to right) hold it up to your mouth and look with both eyes open down the barrel "at" your target in doing so you should see 2 ends to your blowgun. Center your target between the two ends and it's dead center nearly every time. Depending on the distance from your target you will have to adjust your aim up or down. The further away, the higher you need to aim, but being as that it's a blowgun you're probably not going to be that far away.

  • Why use a mouthpiece? This slows down the air in the pipe. But the real trick to getting a blow pipe to work well is to use your tongue to build pressure in your chest and then squeeze the air with your diagram. It should make a "tuh" sound.

  • @MrkBO8 pretty sure you meant diaphram not diagram :^)

  • @myxtzylplyxtz !!! ;o)

  • big fan of your show dual survival. your survival skills can kick the hippies ass

  • my blow gun is better than his make it feet lone and put a cunecter on 1 end and just end and make paper cones and tape some 8d nails

  • Is this guy on that discovery show dual survival?

  • I like the PVC blow gun, and I LOVE the multi purpose uses of it! It's a hunting tool, a drinking straw, a defense weapon, a walking stick, a canteen, let me add one more, maybe a tent pole if you had a tarp. I like how you say you lean from comments---how about this? If you were out in the woods, maybe you could use some pine pitch instead of epoxy. Also like the multi-purpose quiver/canteen

  • dave is a bossssssssssss. cody is a ggggggggggggggggggggggggg. dual survival sonnnnnnnnnn.

  • what guage is the wire nut? please answer!!!!

  • What size reducer?

  • dave if you drilled a hole in the top of the wire nut, u could get a screw and screw it into the hole and have it be a very hard stun dart

  • @kbot1990 yellow is for 12-14 gauge wire, but what you really want is to pick whatever fits snugly into your mouthpiece. You can get green onesw this size, but not as easy to find out in the woods after missed shots, the red for 10 guage are bigger. Again, get what fits your mouthpiece

  • Im a junior in the electrical program at a vocational high school and we have been shooting wire nuts out of 1/2 pvc for years haha

  • A container that tennis balls come in might work as a quiver as well. I have GOT to make one of these now.

  • cool material

more of these movies would I like your documents always two sides to greet survival

  • where is cody ,dave ?

  • You fuckin rock Dave!

  • dual survival

  • 4:15 "You can fuck this right into your butthole" 0_o

  • My cousin & I built 6 foot blowguns with water pipe & a pipe fitting for a mouthpiece, Our darts were lengths of stiff wire filed sharp on one end... the other end was wrapped in yarn to make a plug. The extra length really adds to the accuracy. We were inspired by south american indian blowguns.

  • May be wrong dave but arent you losing power as the mouth peice is a smaller diameter then the barrell?

As a kid used curtain rods and 2 inch nails rolled and taped into a paper cone.Straight into the rod and cut off . the tight ones were the best thats why im thinking you may be losing some. Your the man

  • Since you mentioned multiple uses, you can also use dried out rye, (or any number of stalky plants/weeds) which could double as tinder, or some fluffed out cotton swabs, which can be burned or even used as part of a fishing lure.

  • What's the largest game you can bring down with one of these?

  • @cryophile The largest game you can bring down with this particular blowgun is probably a rabbit or squirrel with a well paced heart and lung shot. Now if you get into the bigger bore blowguns, such as the .625 caliber cold steel i use, you can easily take game up to groundhog size with a good shot. The .625 blowgun i shoot actually has a mini broadhead about 3/8 of an inch wide on it with a 6 inch shaft. Hope this helps even though i did get off topic a bit.

  • @cryophile Snails.

  • so helpful used the same materials and got a kill on a small buck. since my dad had a little poison from finding a snake about a day ago and i dipped the skewers in it and it took 6 shots until the deer fell after running. very worh the money will get you a good lookin trophy in your room so yea thnx dave and i usually always watch every episode of u and the other dude with no shoes. so again thnx and kit

  • looks like you got him right in the balls dave.

  • or you could just drop the filter in the water source. what is the 5 Ws of survival? water, widow-makers, wigglies, wood and weather.

  • this guys on tv!

  • I would suggest getting some green florist foam (oasis) and cutting a round slug to put at the bottom of your tube so the darts will stick in it and not rattle around while you sneak thru the woods. Cheap Trick.

  • I built one and came up with a couple simple and effective additions to make it more functional. Using your para cord & sending a double strand down the neck & a loop out the end it makes a dandy snake wrangling stick.

If you get am 8"+ long x 1/4" thick nail & grind down the head so it fits inside the cap, you can store it inside the pole with the cap securing it in place & if needed, take it out, slip it through the mouth piece & screw in place to use as a fairly decent javelin.

  • good nice job

  • use a pice of 2m long pice of copper of steel it gose up to80m

  • at 12:43 i got a weird tingly feeling in my balls...

  • cool vid--I used to own a mail ordered blowgun like you used to see in hunting magazines---my brother and I both owned one

  • Go find a poisonous frog, rub the point against it's back, and you can kill a cow with it.

  • duel survival?

  • Comment removed

  • you mean dual as in 2 not duel like fighting

  • @ManKatomodders I know right.

  • 12:29 that raccoon sure did drop dead

  • A better way for the dart is stab a nail through a ear plug

  • alot heavier

  • @Huntingboys7 or use thistle down on a bamboo skewer

  • @Huntingboys7 Nice idea. Also, a lot of those earplugs are neon orange, easy to locate after missed shots.

  • @Huntingboys7 to heavy :)

  • @Huntingboys7 Won't it become too heavy?

  • @Huntingboys7 best thing about that is you can take those nails and use them in a fish spear or a squirrel trap

  • whoah!! its that guy from dual survival!!!!!!

  • @8drewski i think so too

  • @Pelletgunner97 Bullseye!

    ...ouch!

  • @iicon212 it's Bergman tube, my bad!

  • @iicon212 i didn't find PVC and i used Berman tubes.

They are pretty good. Google it to find out what are Berman tubes.

  • Wow, Dave I LOVE Watching Your TV Programs and Now YouTube, Wish I could Come to Ohio for School...I am in California!! i SWEAR I KNOW You, Did You ever Live in Pompano Beach, Florida?? We are FB Friends, so You COULD Contact me there!

  • aiming for his nuts ah

  • You can also incorperate those little craft exacto type blades to your darts the same way you would to a primitive arrow.

  • what knife is that on his neck? anyone know?

  • I love the vid, love the concept but it's impossible to find 2' outdoor grade schedule 80 PVC with threaded ends. Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks

  • that is....AWESOME!!!! how do u aim with it tho?

  • @MrXuebot With a blowgun you have to just keep both eyes open and put the object you are trying to hit between the two barrels you see. Then all you have to do is learn to move the muzzle up or down to compensate for the drop of the dart. After a while you will get used to different differences and you can be quite accurate with one. I killed a squirrel with my Cold Steel blowgun just a few days ago.

  • @Coyotehunter2011 alritte then, thank you very much!

  • that is....AWESOME!!!!

  • I have a cold steel, collapsible big bore blow gun on the way, can't wait, the tree rats in my neighborhood won't be stealing bird food anymore, and I can't take it backpacking.

  • Hey dave, you can also use the end reducer as a nozzle for blowing air into fire.

  • Hay Dave, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the blow gun I made as a kid ,same thing except we made the darts with nails and used tape for the cone at the end of the dart. The nails wer sharpened on a grinder and they would go deep into wood. I can see how the longer darts would be moor affective and you can also make sum brood heeds that can be attach to the wood darts for killing game faster.

  • @ikilluwithguitar... Hey man show some respect, don't put stupid comments on videos. @DaveCantetbury I hope I spelled your name right just wanted to say good job on the videos.

  • your quiver is a poket pussy

  • i modified the darts and found i had better penetration and accuracy. what i did was i used wire connectors with the wings trimmed off. i then used large bamboo sticks, about 8 inches i believe, and i used the whole bamboo skewer. as for the gun itself, i have two 2 ft. peices of PVC with a coupling in the middle with end caps to use the pipe as containers. the darts seem to fly more like arrows if made this way and are good up to 12 ft from my own experience. the darts get 4 inch penetration.

  • the coon. OOOOH MY BALLS JUST KILL ME FGS

  • my first blowgun was a curtain rod, with a mini M&M canister as a mouth peice, and i use bamboo screws and paper cones, it use to get rusty in the mild from all the spit

  • PVC....man's best arts and crafts item. Right next to Duct Tape

  • @Conkonovae i used both;D

  • @Conkonovae 550 cord to lol

  • @Conkonovae And hot glue.

  • You are soooo instpirational, man! Keep it up please! I'm a huge fan!

  • dave will you marry me

  • you should try harvest a small game ex chimunk or somthing like that for youtube

  • a person could cut a soda can up and use it for broad heads.

  • The PVC he is using is schedule 80 PVC.

  • You could make the nuts more deadly by gluing a BB or ball bearing to the end. A short nail or screw run through the nut might be good too.

  • thanks man i might make one another type of dart thats also made with common items its a needle stuck throw the end of a shoe lase with some of the regular shoe lase frayed/messed up or puffed up then stick the needle throw it and it looks cool and its leathal for survival

  • you not we you are alone man

  • blow gun + dead coon = happy dave and coon hat

  • 7 1/2 inches long in Male speak is 5 or 6 inch long /nod

  • 8:35 No way is that 4 inches in diameter. MAYBE 3 at most.

  • the loop for the carabeaner can be used to carry dead game and the quiver can also hold your blow gun

  • @TxTproductionz Pretty sure he is.

  • lol is it not funny how everything works out in thi video perfectly but if anyone else tried it somethings wud be to big or too small, i think he had too much preperation time

  • he tlks bout collecting water in the quiver but there is a slit in the top?

  • @TxTproductionz yeah he is

  • teach cody lundin howto make those arrows but use pine sap and fire ash as the glue

  • wt size wire nut?

  • will you show a video on how to make a homemade survival slingshot?

  • Dave, you used epoxy. could you also use tree resin to glue on the secures

  • Dave we love everything you do. another idea that i use on mine is... i put o-rings around it to help in tracking. you can place an o-ring at the first toe kick and then another at the next one and use it as a gauge to find the next one. congrats on all your success

  • you could load a bunch fletch down and then a bunch fletch up...therefore gaining a greater capacity

  • meh, my freind made one exactlly the same and shot a robbit with it, it just ran away

  • coodnt get the wire nuts to work so i tried a little bit of electrical tape at the nock end of the skewer and then put the cotton ball on the dart n some more electrical tape at both ends of the cotton ball so it will last a little bit longer n they shoot good but it mkes the velocity slower. i still git about 3 inches of penetration on a cheap turkey target

  • Made one of these today. I'm having trouble with the darts hitting sideways. Any tips please?

  • Please, if you are hurting animals with needle darts, use my home made darts with razorblades easy to make u can buy the materials everywhere..

So the animal doesn't have to suffer and don't have a chance to run away

I already tried them out they kill squirrels easy..

Let me know if they also worked for other animals , please.

Check my how to make Super Heavy Darts vid

  • you have all my support you rock! keep them awesome multipurpose tools coming i love this

  • coat hangers or bailing wire work for darts as well with added steps

  • i think it will be beter without the mouth peice because after the mouth peice throu the barrel it wiil be moving around alot

  • Wire coat hangers also make an excellent choice (cut with tin snips or the like) instead of bamboo skewers for the "shaft" of the dart.

Also- the blowgun CAN be effective for E&E against human-sized targets. Sulfur (like dusting sulfur for roses at the garden center), cause incredible pain if they find their way into an open cut or wound (the KGB used to use this as an interrogation technique, I've heard). Apply it to a dart- and they WILL break off their pursuit.

  • @108johnny i just udes the hangers and sharpened them wiht a sharpening stone for my knife and cone mad eof duct tape and paper, they penetrate 1/2 inch in 2 by 4 wood

  • @108johnny i just used the hangers and sharpened them wiht a sharpening stone for my knife and cone made of duct tape and paper, they penetrate 1/2 inch in 2 by 4 wood, sick, you coul probaly kill somone if u hit hard in the skull

  • @108johnny i prefer to use bicycle spokes that can me cut at an angle with wire cuters or just grind them on concrete or another rough surface, anywho, Just made a new survival channel, it will be featuring knife reviews, blowguns, shelters and many hunting and fishing how tos. come check me out and if you like, Subscribe!

  • hi Dave, i have made a common mans blowgun and I have found that instead of wire nuts 5/8 cork plugs work much better. Snugger fit better accuracy and less weight for longer shots. Almost as good as my .625 big bore blowgun.

  • just a thought, in my city alone i know of two stores that sell quality blowguns for like 5 bucks. they come in three different sizes and there is also a huge variety of different kinds of darts.

  • hay dave i have a idea for free metal dart if you have a old bike cut the spoke and sherpen them to a point then apoxy them to it to the wire nut.

  • Are those connectors metal or pvc also, I searched my local hardware stores, and they carry the pipe, but I cant find the schedule 80 fittings in the right sizes. Mostly just copper or galvanized

  • cheezits, u talk for so long

  • was thinkin, why not use a cactus needle instead of a bamboo skewer?

  • love the video, well done.... i just built one myself and i smile every time i look or pick it up. love to show my friends. and they ask how i did it i tell them to go to your video...HOOHA!

  • love the video, well done.... i just built one myself and i smile everytime i look or pick it up. love to show my friends. and they ask how i did it i tell them to go to your video...HOOHA!

  • Can u get a hitmarker on an animal ?

  • Have you ever tried to hit an animal with this, and did you do anything to it

  • best way to aim with a blowgun is to open both eyes and the gun will double in vision so you put wht you want to hit in the middle of those 2 visions

  • I have made his blow gun and a lot of different darts I can tell you that the cap is too heavy. I make my cones out of jute twine and gorilla glue. Basically I use the electrical cap and wrap the twine over it and than i coat the twine with the glue. After it sets it take off the twine and place it on the bamboo dart. Than I add some glue into the cone and let that cure. Than you just need to shape it to just barely fit the tube and trust me you will be amazed on the difference it will make.

  • i dunno what those yellow things are or where to get them so i used foam ear plugs, worked a treat at a short distance for long distance i did a few wraps of electrical tape just under the ear plugs, the extra weight seemed to help it fly better over distance. I got the dart to stick into a tree from 15 feet away with only a 10 inch bit of pipe.

  • i thought a longer barrel would increase accuracy be decrease distance

  • @garrett2119 it allows you to put more power behind it. the longer the better but you don't want the inner volume to exeed your lung capacity.

  • man, you are a genius

  • Awsome video Dave!

  • heck yeah wal-mart lol

  • you could use coat hangers and those last 3 shots were defently in the sun dont shine area

  • LOL 12:33 "dead coon"

  • wrap a piece of duct tape around the bottom of the wirenut..so about 1/3 is on the wirenut ,fold the other 2/3 on itself..almost like fletching...it effectively seals the gap between the wirenut and inside of the barrel...

  • is this the bro from dual survival?

  • @3xAmigosProductions yep this is how he got that job lol from youtube to discovery channel

  • @3xAmigosProductions yes it is

  • I'm only 13 and a boy scout and I bet if you had one of these and I had my set of throwing knives I could kill more than you. haha

  • @concon2015 hahahaha u make me laugh

  • @concon2015 Then what would you do after you kill them..

  • This is cool as hell man.

  • Great job Dave!

Share how to adapt, improvise, overcome. and thrive.

  • thats a cool blowgn

  • The problem is that the fletching always makes quite a loud noise when you shoot. When the dart goes down the barrel it hits the gap between the two pieces and makes an awful noise. So much for stealthy...

  • this blowgun is so good

  • if you use nails instead of skewers it is less chance of breaking and if you use paper and roll it into a cone around the nail and then tape it plus cut it to fitt the inside of the barrel it is more acurate.

  • I went hunting with a 1 piece 7 foot long blowgun I made out of metal conduit(before I saw this) and The darts were pieces of sharpened metal coat hanger with duct tape cone fletching. I shot a rabbit and the dart went straight through the neck and I chased it for 30 minutes and I lost it. I think it went in to smoothly or something because its really sharp. If I use blunt darts do you think it would kill faster.

  • COOL!

  • pure genius--thanks dave--you just saved me endless hours of how i was going to get the job done--come to Idaho!

  • dave this is cool and ur show is cool too

  • love ya vids, but want to hunt bunnys uk, i got field arrow tips , was just thinking whats your idea. im using slingbow....

  • i use a slingshot whith a field point to hunt rabits, weres the best hit on them, or advice on arrow tipps,.... ps love your vids

  • is this guy from duel survival?

  • @lian5k yup

  • dave after i saw this video i couldnt help myself i had to make one i decided to use an old pvc tube about 2 ft long unfortunately i havent had the time to head down to the store to pick up the rest of the supplies like the skewers or mouthpiece so what i decided to do was to use bigger gauge sewing needles and construction paper to make my darts this actually worked fantastic and it is dead accurate i appreciate the video thank you

  • not only do you have a dead coon but it's also castrated

  • Comment removed

  • @mitchblahman wat does that meen?

  • do you have to get the wire out of the nut frist then put the bamboo in

  • dead coon haaha! but good vid

  • if you get a couple of elbows for the pvc you can also us it as an emergency snorkel..

oh and i love your show with hippie man.

  • if you get a couple of elbows for the pvc you can also us it as an emergency snorkel..

  • dave i love when u say nature mother earth bullshippe crap

  • i love your show

  • @rjsmith508 yes he is gr8 sho

  • dude ur like my favorite survivalist ever r u on dual survival

  • Dave, how about adding some duct tape feathers to the darts??? Do you think it would work?

  • 12:44 crotch shot!!! lol

  • Can you be my dad?

  • I made one like this 30 years ago 'cept I used the spokes off an old ten speed wheel as the darts. Killed rats, snakes, mice and a couple of fish(which I ate).

  • if i can make a suggestion, if you take a piece of small dowel rod to make your darts, and take a hack saw and make a notch about a 1/4 of an inch down on one end, then take a cheap exacto disposable razor (the one where you snap off the ends to get a new sharp razor) break off a piece of the razor and insert with super glue into the notch, you have a broad head razor dart

  • lol dude i want ur job with dual survival so damn bad id love to just travel the world living off the land thats like my dream
