This is the quintessential white trash movie. The detail is extraordinary in every single thing down to the light-up picture of Jesus over Brad Jr's television. I can watch every scene over and over and see something I didn't see before. I especially loved Crispin Glover and Kiefer Sutherland playing his loser friends. Though their parts were short, it helped to grab that feel of rural good-old-boy futility.
That's my favorite movie with Walken. And thanks to this film, I also found out who Sean Penn. It's just too bad that Chris Penn is dead. He also got the talent. He really changed - when I saw him in that movie and then in "Funeral", I just could't recognize him! Music-another great advantage of this movie. Madonna really did a good job! And Walken. As usual, he was superb. No matter how old he is, he is just Walken. Amazing. Too bad he doesn't have the kids to inherit the talent after the dad!
search: Bruce johnston sr. yeah this guy killed one of his sons, and attemtped murder on the other, who lived to testify. real son of a bitch. died in prison in 2002,of liver failure. i got sons, could never imgine anything like this..... the movie awsome! "christopher walken" who betta.... sean penn in his prime (married to madonna) right on.
when his father took him to buy the car @ the lot & then he immediately drove across the street & sold it.. what was the meaning of that???? didn't he lose $4oo.oo bucks.. i didn't get it.
I just watched this movie tonight. Fucking badass. You must be right about the money laundering. I was wondering what that was about. Damn, I feel retarded. Derp.
CHRIS IS SO HOT IN THAT MOVIE OMG I DIE!... Do you believe that xD He plays Brad Whitewood Sr. with the same haircut as he played Puss in boots .. JUST FOR THAT YOU HAVE TO LOVE HIM EVEN MORE!!!
Eileen Ryan is the mother of actor Sean Penn, singer Michael Penn and actor Chris Penn.Eileen Ryan appeared with her two actor sons Sean Penn and Chris Penn in the 1986 film At Close Range. She played the part of their grandmother in the film.
Walken's accent is so weird in this movie. He's trying to talk like this mid-pennsylvania small town guy (which the character is) but his real Queens NY accent keeps slippin through. regardless, it's one of his best performaces if you haven't seen it.
It's a "based on a true story" type of movie about a rural crime family from Pennsylvania. It has a tragic(sort of) ending like in the real events that happened.
In 1990, the Los Angeles Times published a devastating six-part series exposing Church of Scientology crime and abuse. On May 6, 1991, Time Magazine published its largest selling edition the cover story of which was, Scientology, The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power. The article won numerous journalism awards and is widely available on the Internet. The Church of Scientology unsuccessfully sued Time Magazine for defamation.
I neva stole NUTHIN! ya hear? - yeah, dont you worry about a speeding ticket? - kid, you look a thousand miles any direction, tennessee to toronto... *damn what a great movie!* "get outta m' face lester."

"You'll find shit. All you know is howda steal. You're too fuckin' dumb do that by yourself." Great shit from Walken as usual, great movie all around. RIP Chris Penn, you rule!!
christ i don't even remember him sayin that it's been a while since i seen this...gotta watch it again.....i grew up on these movies..being 39 ans all.....klassic movie dude....
Incredible movie, Walken and Penn are amazing. In real life Walken hates guns. In one intense scene Penn points a gun at Walken's head, Walken's character flinches and is visibly scared. In real life Penn wouldn't let Walken check the gun to make sure there were blanks in it. Penn wanted the scene to be intense and the Walken's fear realistic so he made Walken's fear real.
Saw this for the first time today by accident. Fuckin awesome movie!!
