I got the CD, and i can tell you , Ambrose Slade is a real fine CD, if you like the Slade, buy or order this CD, it's your money really worth.

One thing about Slade that we all are so willing to forget.They were the biggest band in Britain in the 7ts.Bowie boland and the beatles were just following in the wake of slade.Fact.

The only other memory I have of that night, was one of the bouncers head-butting some poor sod prior to ejecting him from the gig.... happy daze. As far as I remember, Nita Anderson used to run the venue as an adjunct to her music agency (ASTRA).. her husband was a policeman, and used to drive to work in a Jag..

The bass player played violin on this track - saw them do this, and a great cover of Oh Well (Fleetwod Mac) at the Ship and Rainbow in Wolverhampton.. late 69?

@stephedc Interesting you saw them doing this... one of the best Beatles covers IMHO. I did not know about the Fleetwood Mac cover, is it on record anywhere? I can t find it on youtube....anyway, thanks for your information. Any cover Slade performed, was at least as good as the original, brilliant band.

Does not matter what Paul thinks, even if 3 billion people his version is the best, I know for myself this sounds more authentic and self together, however 'sophisticated' the Beatles original may sound.

@funkmasterjee Why not? I have it on CD, best and most authentic cover of Martha my dear. I prefer this to the original. Maybe You should listen to that or or come up with a better version instead of posting a prejudice comment, that I think it is.
