@woodyboley its a blue tradition to take other artists songs and put your own spin on them. i dont know how you could know fat possum rec's and not know enough about the blues to know that. look at any blues album ever. at least one song will be a cover
Fucking Burnside was raw ore. Motherfucker could PLAY. Well. One of my favorite guitar players EVER. Long live slash and drone! That shit's so hard to do!!!

@BigAndo21 its acctually a mix of Moanin' at Midnight by Howlin' Wolf and poor boy. listen to moanin at midnight the main riff in The Moan is right in there
@SavantSvant ..'it's all in the forefinger'...hah!...fantastic, heavy Earth soundz from RLB.....a f***** Master, when he gets into this reel style, unique touch with something simple...Like Miss. Fred McD. Who else can sound like these guys?..too much
@SavantSvant It may not sound it in any obvious way, but John Lee Hooker's boogie beat was a HUGE influence on R.L. and his music, so if you listen to, say, "Boogie Chillen" by John Lee it helps get this rhythym down a little easier.
shiambles, they do that now, they developed an interest in the blues in the broadest sense of the word when the young british musicians started to make hits out of the blues songs, BB KIng has said so, Muddy Waters did also, before that blues musicians were almost always on hard times and not very much apreciated.
I believe he plays it in standard tuning, vamping on an E minor chord (that he makes by bending his index finger at the joint). He might be tuned down a step--I had to tune it down a step to get it in my vocal range.
really really wanting to find the dvd or wherever this came from. If you could point us guitar players in the general direction so we can watch this in slo mo on our dvd players it'd be much appreciated!!
I am pretty sure the same recordings from whatever this is from are on the 'mississippi hill country blues' album. so listening to the songs with better sound might help. As for where these videos are from I have no idea, but I'd really like to know.
Ja zeer bijzonder,Ik ben ze eeuwig dankbaar. Swingmaster zou eigenlijk meer credits moeten krijgen, hebben blues mannen opgenomen als oa.Big Boy Henry,James Son Thomas,Albert Macon, Henry Townsend ea.

Dan Auerbach really nailed this style. He slowed it down a little like Junior. And he used that line in The Moan.
