  • yep....nothing happens here in Gold Beach.....this town sucks the life out of you with it's pro american, close minded, community. The tsunami was nothing, like it never was, we've had 3 warnings and it was nothing, this was nothing, I slept through the entire thing lol, can't say the same about brookings and crescent city, they get all the fun

  • amazing refraction wave. just imaging surfing then all of a sudden the wall get blow back! haha

  • Its hard to get the right perception from a video, its much more impressive in person when you can really judge the form and size of the waves

  • nice video

  • For waves you can ride take a look at my other videos. These shots show the surges as they happened from our vantage points. There is no damage, destruction or death. Please give Japan any support that you can. Thanks for watching.

  • Does this mean we will have to cancel the clambake?

  • Great job!!! Wasn't this awesome to watch!!! ^^

    Loves: Bug ^^

  • I've seen many storms at Gold Beach produce much larger surf but this was a great shot. I see the surge...........I've seen the waves hit and roll over the Ophir dike on 101 several times. It was amazing! You had to detour on the old HWY. by the school.

  • "Normal" waves are riding on top of the tsunami . A tsunami doesn't look like a giant wave, it's a giant lump of water that travels much deeper than normal waves, and can be hundreds of feet to miles long. It's very hard to see unless you know what the ocean is supposed to look like.

    Yes, that was the tsunami.

  • great footage...it's nuts to think about that force coming from as far away as it did.

  • its just normal waves

  • @AZNTHEORY I can assure you, they are not normal waves. A woman and her brother were sucked out to sea a mile south at Meier Creek and were rescued by a local surfer and a rescue volunteer. The first two shots were taken from the top of a tall nearby mountain, but we are still at least a half mile to a mile from the ocean. Highway 101 is visible below about halfway to the sea. The time lapse was taken at the turnout across from the south Hunter Creek loop / 101 Intersection.

  • @AZNTHEORY They look like normal waves, but instead of only a small portion of water that comes to shore as a wave, the whole sea behind it is also pushing that 'wave':

That's what makes these waves so incredibly powerfull: it's not a small portion of water, but a mass of water so big it's unimaginable.
