  • woah, good cover..wait not good, AMAZING

  • Great movie, great song, great cover, and absolutely great lyrics.

Everything about the beatles is just great.

  • Just plain and simple. The Beatles will go down in history as one of the greatest bands and influnces in music. I love love this movie, and I love love The Beatles. Those of you who say other wise don't know what music is. The music we have today would be NOTHING without The Beatles. They were the foundation of music. I'm not saying that there weren't other influences at all, but they were the main influnce.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE :-)

  • An extraordinary cover. I like it more than the original; the cello is a fantastic addition.

  • I listen to this song when I'm feeling sad, along with Hey Jude, and Blackbird. The Beatles teach the soul how to feel deep emotion.

  • his voice....my god..it's so beautiful and soothing

I love the Beatles Version...but this is a great cover, Most of the covers in this movie were

  • i was really high with my friends in my friends basement, and we were watching this movie and this song came on, i closed my eyes and imagined my life, my wife and kids, and this girl i really liked at the time, everytime i hear this song i almost cry

  • this is supernatural.

  • TE AMO MOLLEFITAS...

  • jai guru deva means what? I mean I love this song but never understood those lyrics. Help?

  • @misterjaz 'Victory to God Divine'

    Or something along the lines.

I only looked it up on Google so...

  • ACROSS THE UNIVERSE IS WHAT IT MEANS

  • @misterjaz it's an Indian mantra to thank your yoga/meditation teacher. when it's directly translated from Indian it has many meanings, but it's mostly said to show gratitude to your teacher. the 'om' is the vibration created when meditating.

  • @caitlyneFUCK Thank you. BTW you dont need to use the F-word in your name. IMHO

  • Magical ♥

  • Arr I can't remember what scene this song was used in the movie. Can anyone tell me?

  • its when he is on the train, and leaving america i think =]

  • just after jude finds out lucy left him, he's on the subway and sees the hare krishnas through the window

  • i know what jai guru deva means by i wonder how does it apply to the song? :)

  • What does it mean?

  • i believe the Beatles went to see a guru and u know become enlightened and all that then the they found out the guru is like a womanizer or something like that then Lennon made a song about how mad he is he called it 'Sexy Sadie' at least thats what i learned from wikipedia :)

  • I love the sound of his voice

  • who new Jim Sturgess could sing... What the hell, he was my favorite actor before and now he is perminantly! and if truexxxxx is reading this, your right, this war-torn world is corrupted.

  • @SUPAMAN8484 everyone in this movie can "sing" thanks to autotune pitch correction software. It's the same in all musicals nowadays, and for that matter most music period.

  • @ashtonshaw well not in this movie they actually sang live in the movie they didnt lip synic and u can hear them really sing while they r rehersing in the special features these ppl can actually SING!!!!

  • @ashtonshaw actually look up other live performances of jim sturgess and youll eat your words.

  • what other movies has jim sturgess been?

  • His more popular roles were in "21" and "The Other Boleyn Girl."

  • @IrishTulip 21 was fantastic

  • i lurve jim sturgess !!! ^____^,

  • wow this gives me the goosebumps!!! I love this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His voice is OMG!!! haha

  • this is a really good song by the beatles and i love it

  • I love the original, but this is an excellent cover. I love it.

  • omfg i can't even comprehend how much i love this cover <3

  • Great song. Makes me wonder why we still have war in this corrupt world we live in.

  • Duuuuhhh!!!!! Of course anyone knows that already. Don't be stupid.

  • I LOOOOVE this song <3. In my theatre group the girls and the guys sung this as a harmony. When we sung it, it was like...magic

  • ur twelve n u were getting ur nose peirced.....sure

  • Im only 11 i love this so much my parents where deadheads my mom really loved the beatles to i love them so much to its just amazing this is one of my favorite i wish i could live to see them live :( but they are just amazing

  • my dad cried during this movie. its a rare thing to see my dad cry. he was a big fan of the beatles (still is) and he remembered when john died. i think my dad was 17-18 at the time.

  • the beatles lyrics make me so...content. i listen to the lyrics and my heart just melts.

the beatles are pure music. its too bad people think different of them.

  • @Hollisterxchick22 Dude I feel the same way. Like to sound weird but when I listen to the beatles I fill like I step into another world almost.

  • @Hollisterxchick22

    You said it sister.

  • lmfao nice fight ppl.

  • LSD is good for you! coca-cola isnt

  • Lol.

  • this song is beautiful..i love this movie and all versions of each song in it but NOBODY can beat the beatles

  • except yoko ono

    yeah... i went there

  • What an amazing powerful song. Get goosebumps everytime I listen to it. I really like this version of it too. =]

  • Ahhh I think the first time I saw the movie I was pretty burnt out ahaha and then I saw The Beatles movie high as fuck and I cupped my mouth the whole time like oh my god ahahaa I love the beatles man

  • The Beatles Did Acid.

And They Still Made Great Music

  • They were on LSD and everything they saw was twisted. Calm down guys.

  • OK I'm sorry if I offend anybody but The Beatles versions of the songs protrayed on this movie was a whole lot better. I mean I like how the songs fit into the story's plotline but I believe that if you cannot sing the songs like The Beatles then you should just leave it alone.

  • when youre high u dnt have visions loser

  • i love love love love this song!

  • one of my fav... i love all version of this song

  • this is my all time favorite song in this movie! i watched for the first time with my friend who just loves this movie. When it was over, i just enjoyed the movie so much and it one of those ones that you can watch again and again.

  • love this song. i found it on my friendz ipod and wouldnt stop listening to it until she took her ipod away. i watched this movie at like 2am one day for the first time. it iz amazing. i didnt think i wuld like it and i waz definately wrong. after seeing this movie i wuldnt stop singing the songs and ppl thought i waz crazy.

  • i like this version better than the beatles version

  • i just watched it today and i loved it but my friends didn't like it. i think its cuz theyre beatles fan and they only like the beatles, and they don't like other artists. The only thing that was bad about the move was the benefit of being mr. kite cuz it was retarted. the rest of the moves was good tho

  • Well, they were high so they most likely had hallucinations and that's where benefit of being Mr. Kite came in =)

  • ya but it was really out of place because they didn't really make it clear that they were doing drugs. It would have been better if they met up with Prudence while they were walking to the field or she could have been hitchhiking and they met her. They could have been singing in the van and Prudence just happened to be singing the same song. I just think that Mr. Kite wasn't needed.

  • i hope you don't mean weed, if so your stupid as hell... hallucinations... lol at you!

  • Dude, I didn't mean weed... Watch what you say before you go around calling everyone stupid...

  • that's why i put "if so", so if you didn't mean weed then that didn't apply to you, in which you should have ignored it!!!! dumb ass!

  • darnell, chill the f**k out, it was just a little misunderstanding and if you go around calling everyone a dumba** without even realizing what you're saying then you're in for a load of sh*t in life...

  • :) This song is AWESOME! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!

  • so i just saw this movie two days ago and im addicted!! i cant stop watching it!!! :)

  • the sad thing is.. im 15 and this song make me wanna go back to the beatles' time...

  • I KNOW!! ME TOO!!!! :(

  • thats not sad, i think every one who likes the beatles would like to go back to their time.

  • Why's that sad?

  • because we feel an emptiness in our lives that will never be fulfilled. I would say the same thing, if I had one wish, I would jump in a time machine and live in the 60's for a day. All we can do is stand back and watch the best music of all time become awash by the mainstream crap on the radio nowadays, helplessly clinging on with all our might for the love of the beatles... I think i got a little carried away there... someone's gonna give me a thumbs down...

  • the lyrics, the melody...they're quite simple. yet there is such energy, such strong feeling behind this!

    i love this song:)

  • Just saw this movie for the first time last night. VERY GOOD

  • niiice

i saw mine like a month ago for the first time lol

  • this is the first beatles' song that i fell in love to

  • love this song!<3

  • i LOVE THiS SONG!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • could you drown in a pool of sorrow?

  • Some people manage :(

  • sadly yes T.T it's happened to so many people

  • Jai guru deva = the single most mesmerizing piece of lyrics in any song I've EVER HEARD.

It's an old Sanskrit line that means 'Victory to God Divine Above," and the "Om" that follows after words is, apparently to Buddhist lore, is the very reverbration of the universe. It's basically the echoing of every other lifeform in the universe communicating with each other in their own retrospective mind.

It's amazing and awe-inspiring, when you get down to it.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • no....its a stawberry dear. watch the movie?

  • this song is trippy, because it doesn't mean anything(in retrospect)

  • i <3 this movie. lolz.

  • great song, written and performed by many great people, dont be fucking shitheads

  • i get a boner when i hear this song.

  • That is so cool

  • I like papercup. - * * *- - - * * *

  • almost as good as the original!!! ALMOST!

  • 0:59 to 1:36 is my FAVORITE part :)

  • retard.

there NOT saying J'ai un gourou devant moi.

there saying jai guru deva om.

because the "jai" works like "viva" in English, but comes from the word "to be victorious:

    "guru" means teacher.

    "deva" means god, divinity

    "om" is the sacred syllable.

Guru Dev is the name of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who taught the Beatles to meditate. Meditation among followers of the Maharishi includes this phrase to show respect, and the Beatles borrowed it for "Across the Universe".

  • guru its like indonesian language yeah still same "teacher"

  • Actually what i said is wrong

  • I think they try to say : "J'ai un gourou devant moi " in french. But of course they don't say it properly! LOL

It is a great film and a great song!!

  • they are saying jai guru deva om, which means thank you master, it's not french...

  • if you had took the time to read my second post you would see that i rectified my mistake miss i-know-everything!

  • for gods sake, that is not at all what they're saying

however, if the BEATLES were going to try and say that, they would say it right

  • i can sing this song good but 1 octive higher.

  • jai guru deva om. thats th weirdest part in the lyrics. jai guru deva om.
