The Star Trek episode I refereed to is in the 2nd season, its called Bread and Circuses. The description reads Captain Kirk and his companions are forced to fight in gladiatorial games on a planet modeled after the Roman Empire.

People can make up there own minds about religion, without our shows preaching to us, having religion pushed on kids in school, or people otherwise being minipulated.

@maven21 Don't you recall the Star Trek the original series episode, where they find a planet where, there is a second Roman Empire, but it never fell. So, basically, Kirk & the gang have to help this gladiator win, so he can become the emperor. Basically, Kirk talk to him about moral & values, & in the end Spock or Kirk mentions how unlikely it is for two civilizations so far apart to develop a long the same lines & to both worship the sun god. Ahura says, not the sun God, son of God.

@ernestmac13 But then they find other planets where humanity took a similar path but diverged in history like in the episodes The Omega Glory and Miri. I recall a episode where disembodied aliens cite the fable of Adam and Eve as their doing and in another with a Greek god Kirk says ancient people couldn't conceive them as anything but gods.

The business folks had more power in the past to force directors to do the obligatory religiously toned episode. Thankfully things are freer today, just watch The Big Bang Theory, or view some clips on Youtube. I find less references to god inserted in sci-fi than I used to, which is a good thing.

This has nothing to do with illuminate, & everything with studio execs with a christian agenda. Gene Roddenberry was so disenchanted from dealing with them on the origonal Star Trek, always trying to push their agenda, he only agreed to do Star Trek the Next Generation, when they promised him complete control. Everyone in Hollywood knows that, the bast majority of the creative types are open minded, excepting of different cultures, religions, lifestyles, etc. Its just business folks & a fewother

I'm curious, was this recorded from TV? You can tell by the dialogue that it was sped up slightly. I also have the same episode on VHS (the original, not a TV recording) and the speed on it and this are not the same. The reason I ask is because I know some channels sped-up shows by 5% or so to squeeze in more room for commercials, but in the early days of doing so did not alter the audio properly, making it obvious that it was sped up.
