This is an utterly awful trailer. And, yes, it's even awful for its time. It completely fails in capturing the mood and feel of the movie. It makes it sounds like the movie was an after-school special about a fun walk in the park. I guess they were really aiming for young audiences with that trailer. Even though it's more for a teen audience, it's more mature than the trailer makes it sound.

@Smartboy8877 And the thought just struck me, I would absolutely hate it if Hollywood were to do a remake of this. It would surprise me if they actually did anything even remotely solid with it. Just as they made a weak, superficial Karate Kid remake, they would strip this movie of any subtlety or quiet moments and speed it up, make it more "fun" and quickly gloss over the more sad and tragic aspects of the movie.

@Smartboy8877 There were some scenes that were beyond belief... in a bad way. I'm sure you know how the "bad guy" in the original Karate Kid elbows Daniel's leg, and Daniel is limping and nursing it the rest of the way. Well, in the remake, the main character also gets his leg hurt, pummeled repeatedly by the "bad guy," but later on he's sliding on his legs to dodge a kick, and he's even jumping up off his back onto both legs, without showing a sign of pain. Then he even hypnotizes the bad guy!

There are A LOT more kids getting bullied because they're small, overweight, or wear glasses than those that are homosexual! @owg59 The anti-bulling laws (when they R passed) R too protect ALL kids. The top 3 types of kids who are bullied are: 1.) Heavy-set kids, 2.) Mentally-challenged kids and 3.) Kids who R gay, or kids who R perceived to be gay. And yes there are other types of kids as well. The reason there is such a focus on the gay/lesbian youth is because being gay is still considered controversial to some people. All kids R worth protecting and all kids deserve to feel safe especially in their own school!

Not the best trailer but what a good movie! I saw this when it was released in 1980 & the audience actually stood & applauded when the movie ended. For some reason it's rarely shown on TV & I can't find the DVD anywhere except online. I'm surprised how many people don't know about "My Bodyguard"--they're missing out!

I had it easier than him... my parents dressed me in the most gay outfits, junior high, I got kicked out, the teachers even took the bullies' side. Such a Classic Movie! I got bullied, but I never had any bodyguards, I had it way worse, but that all changed until I got bigger and snapped on my own! It's funny, the bullies, most of them are nice to you, once you kick one of their asses... Back then, It was fists and feet, I just can't stand nowadays, everyone uses guns and knives, and jump people. What Absolute Cowards! I gave a little kid non-violent advice for bullies, and he's fine now! Thumbs up to you all who think the movie is AWESOME!
