@kryssje english doe gallop :p XC! i do that, but istill think western is really fun and its good cause i ride my friend calm and gentle western horse after my crazy eventer :P
Everyone can agree that they love riding yes? And everyone can agree that bareback riding, doesn't matter if your enligsh or western, takes sill and balance? put a saddle into that equition and you still have to have proper balance. Just because it's different from what you do, doesn't mean it's wrong. Or easier.

i tottaly agree with you iride96 western is like a carseat you have the horn to hold if you fall foward and with english you actually have to have ballance!!!!!!
@spell134 You know the horn is there for a: a rope or b: a hand on it when turning a barrel at immense speed. I've seen people do barrels english, they just can't get up to that speed due to the fact that they don't have a horn, or a proper saddle to really get that hind end down for the turn. Every form of horse riding requires balance, from the rider and the horse. Just because the saddle is different, doesn't mean there's no balance in one, and a lot in the other.
@Kals12fost i do understand western is hard. i hav tried barrel racing in a english saddle and it turned out really bad. but fyi much more than 3. there is x country dressage hunter jumper saddle seat equitation pleasure fox hunting we do trails also ya we r pretty much the same. the same horses and every thing just a different style and saddle. :)
ok english is harder. what do you do? run around barrels. we have to get all our strides right, set our horses up correctly, keep the same pace through the WHOOOOOLE thing, right leads, heels down, eyes up, all that. while trying to impress the judge. yall dont have to look as good. just go threw it and dont knock down a barrel.. or go as slow as possible. wow hard work
@dgafbarrelracer187 English IS too as hard as western! We just make it look graceful and we don't TRY to make it look hard. English is very hard and we have to go even further to make it look like it isn't.
@dgafbarrelracer187 wow listen i barrel raced( and was succesful too, so dont say i did a crappy job) then quit and started jumping and i then relized how much muscle tht i lacked. to me jumpings harder, not trying to start a fightt, just sayinn tht to mee english is harderr..(:
i do hunter, english pleasure, jump 3'3, i do weastern pleasure, team peaning, berrals, poles, ect. any i think they are even. they all take about the same amount of wrk.
i jus gotta say that all of these arguments are ridiculous. u cant really compare the two. i ride both and have competed in both. i find dressage the hardest, then jumping, then barrel racing. but they all require u to use different parts of u and ur horse. western is for a more relaxed and easy look and (in my opinion) more fun and free. but dressage demands more of ur horse and more balance. a bigger connection. and jumping is still hard but not as demanding as dressage is u have a good horse.
engilsh!! If u think that engilsh is all bout lookin pretty in tight riding pants then u r totally WRONG !! Dressage if much more compicated than galloping around with a cowgirl hat on like some drunk BITCH
thats kinda mean, u really shouldnt stoop to their level. western is pretty hard and is different than english. but i do agree that dressage is very difficult--the most difficult. but if some western riders think that its easy just hold ur chin and know that u can beat them in any competition and let it go.
Okay guys, seriously. They are both the same, who cares if one is more athletic, blah blah, and one is more comfortable, we are all riding because we love to do it. All this prejudice stuff is crap. Look to the right, and select the video titled: STERYOTYPE: English and Western Riding. That video speaks the raw truth.
Dont tell me to shut upp, you perfer english? i would love to see how Amazing you must ride, haa, and how long have you been riding? hmm? english looks fucking retarded.
I would disagree. I event, so I have to master three disaplines. Western tack is so bulky that I personly feel that you can't feel the horse as well as you could in a dressage saddle.
@StormValleyStables i ride western, and in some saddles that is true. all of my saddles were chosen because i can feel them underneath me tho. i have an english saddle that i can't feel my horse under me at all...i think it depends on the quality and who makes it
@StormValleyStables there are a bunch of non bulky western saddles. The roping saddle are the bulkiest, but there's loads of barrel saddles that let you feel your horse. Ofcourse less saddle lets you feel your horse more. for that particular thing I'd still prefer to ride bareback.
WESTERN IS THE SHIT. english people can stfu, western was the first way horses were rode, and english should suck a dick, they think they got it all in the palm of there hands with the little saddles, tight pants and a bunch of non sense on there horses faces, ENGLISH PEOPLE BACK OFF YOUR HORSES HEADS, LEARN HOW TO NECK REIN, IT DOESNT HURT THERE MOUTHSS!!!
why are you trying to make everyone mad? you obviously dont know anything about english, english riders are not snobs, and you really need to get your facts straight, western was not the first way horses were riden, and it doesnt matter, because both sports involve horses that are loved by us. and from your comment it seems you have quite a few anger issues, so i feel sorry for the horses you ride.
I never said that, woww! ENGLISH riders do not ride using neck reining, cuz thats with one hand!! never seen an englosh rider riding eith one hand on the reins.
your horsdes arent broke enough to neck rein. many many western riders ride brideless, hmmmmm, you would have to use your legs for that, yea, so shut up bitchhh.
YOU DONT UE YOUR LEGS ENOUGH CAUSE YOU GUYS CANT LET GO OF THE REINS AT ALL TO LET YOUR HORSES HEAD GO, YOUR PATHETIC, HAHAHA, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW PATHETICLLY YOU RIDE,
oh wow, not broke enough? english riders in the olympics and many that arent in the olympics JUMP like 6 feet bridleless! and some/most horses get excited when jumping so they get extremely FAST. i have jumped 2'3 no hands and my horse is still pretty green-ish. and just go watch my videos to see "how pathetically i ride" :) i have been told MANY MANY MANY times i am a good rider and have nice eq. not to brag im juss trying to prove a point.
your barrel horse jumps higher than my horse? or higher then 6 feet? if your talking about higher than my horse, idc. my horse only started being trained how to jump a year ago and a half ago. soo whatever. i trained my horse everything i know and a few other horses.
Your horse. A YEAR AND AHALF AGO?!?!?!?! wow, i started my horse on barrels 5 months ago, it took you over a year to get your horse over a jump correctly? my horse learned to go over a jump correctly in 20 minutes.
@dgafbarrelracer187 we have 2 hold all of weight on our knees gripping them to our saddels going over all jumps. so do your research on jumpers before you dish anything out about us!!! D=
I compleatly agrea with withering tales, its very true how it looks like they are too tight, and I don't blame you for thinking that. And some are, just like some western reins are too tight even if they look long. its a matter of how heavey or strong the bit is. I love western and english :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I love WESTERN cuz we don't tug on the bit all the time and we don't have really tight reins like english people. WE have loose reins to let the horse free to drop him or her's head. We are much more gentle with the bit and I think the horse apreciates western riders better!!!
I love western, and primarily ride it. But what you said I have to disagree with, riding both. English is a contact sport. A good rider knows that the "tight reins" in english is more of an illusion than anything. They have lighter bits, western have harsher, heaveir bits so the horse has the same about of contact as in english xP
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I kinda agree we use harsher bits but not always and english riders some time use harsh bits too. Most harsh bits (correction bits) are band in western shows. Western riders have the illusion that we do nothing and the horse listens. We use soft leg work but english riders have no illusion. They jerk on the reins and make there technique obious.Western riders hardly use the bit (reins) it wouldn't matter the horse. Alot of western riders don't use these bits as much anyway.
No they are not. ALL bits are harsh depending on the rider. If the bit is IN the horse's mouth, they can feel it NO matter who is holding the reins. You are stereotyping and its wrong. Most riders use heavier ports in shows because snaffles are not aloud over a certain age. Please understand that I am not bashing you, most -western only- riders feel this way, and riding both, I know the difference.
Of course, I never denied that. But an english bit is light and the supposed "tight reins" are, once again, an illusion. They are driving the horse into the bridle, if you know what that even means. There really is no tighteness in the reins in a good rider, no matter what the discipline. I feel like I am repeating myself again to explain it to you xP
In English it isn't about having our horses heads in the air pulling through the bit. The idea is to have the horse light in our hands. I have done both english and western and i enjoy english much more. Also our horses are usually much more spirited so it can be (not always) more difficult.
WTF!!! In western the idea is to be light on the bit!!!! In english you guys are always pulling on your horses reins with the tightest reins ever!! WTF!! You do not no any thing!! Watch western pleasure then watch jumping and you will see the differernce!!
FYI not all western riders are the same and neither are english riders! I have done both dressage and jumping and my trainers whole thing is on being light with your hands!!!
You can't compare western pleasure and jumping against eachother, they are completly different things you douche! Maybe jumping and barrel racing. both are fast and require quick turns. Maybe even western pleasure and dressage. But western pleasure and jumping please!
@englishrider94 umm, barrel racing is way harder than jumping! in jumping u canter but in barrel racing u lope and the horse and rider practically go sideways! in jumping all u have 2 do is lean 4ward!
Hahah! Well excuse me, but you may think Barrel racing is much harder because you bend and "practically go sideways!" woahh! but actually, if you knew absolutely ANYTHING about jumping, you would then realise that you don't just "lean forward" it's much more than that! You might want to get your facts straight mateyy! (:
yes leaning forward right. Yeah but staying over the center of the saddle, leg pressing at girth, supporting the horse to the base of the jump, keeping your heel down, your eyes up, putting just ever so slightly more pressure on iron of the side you want your horse to pick up his lead on, and then galloping on to the next jump. Yeah, that's just leaning forward....
ya most of those things u do w/ western 2! and galloping? thats for people who are just starting out! loping is the fastest gait mind you!! and thats wat western is about! speed and loving the heck outta your horse! english is for girls! western is for hard-core country riders!!!
No galloping is not for beginners, maybe letting your horse run around on the forhand, but not a XC gallop. You have to balance your horse in the gallop, not let them fall on the forehand, set them up for a jump etc. If english is for girls then why is the top of the sport dominated by male riders?
alicorenee -I'm english. My horse fractured two of my ribs and 3 of my fingers, but guess what? I got back on and galloped the horse in circles for two hours. Also, even though I use an english saddle most days, I could kick your ass in any western saddle event. Barrels, cutting, pleasure, you name it. Because unlike you, I am trained in each saddle equally. Oh, use proper spelling and grammar, more people might take you seriously.
@jberban420 i can use proper spellin and grammar if i want to! and my horse bucked me off and ran around the arena! i caught her got back on her and rode the rest of the pattern! and u may b trained in each saddle equally but u obviously dont know the slang, a lope is as fast is a horse can go in western terms and i doubt u can kick my ass in any western sport and btw how do u compete in pleasure? and cutting requires a highly trained horse and BARRELS IS MY LIFE i can kick UR ASS in barrels >:(
your horse ran around the arena? big deal. try riding with broken ribs and fingers. not very easy at all. haven't you heard of western pleasure classes? it's beside the point, I can kick your ass at your own game, any day.
@StormValleyStables u do more than that! no offense to people who do cutting but the horse has to know that the cow cant get to the herd and if you lift your hands at all u get a bad score bcuz the horse is suppose to do EVERYTHING BY THEMSELVES!
that's the problem I have with it. Riding is about teamwork, and if you just sit there and let the horse do it all, I don't think that's fair to the horse
@StormValleyStables r u serious? it is teamwork u dumbass! who do you think trained the horse? how long do you think the training for a horse that all you have to do is point out a calf and they cut it and keep it away from the herd takes? gosh you need to do some research! look up calf cutting on yt!
@alicorenee I'm sorry I offened you so...... It's my personal opnion. It does take talent on the horse and rider's part, I agree. Just not my cup of tea
@ponypaula listen u obviously dont know anything about english. i ride dressage and if u watch any professional dressage lessons or clinics you see that the trainers have the person riding the horse give up hger reins and the horses head doesnt move. the horses do it willingly not forcefully so learn the facts before u run ur mouth
Western, because people who ride english cant give there horses there heads, unlike western riders, we can literally drop the reins, we dont have our horses with there heads straight in the air, and pulling through the bit.
@dgafbarrelracer187 listen u obviously dont know anything about english. i ride dressage and if u watch any professional dressage lessons or clinics you see that the trainers have the person riding the horse give up hger reins and the horses head doesnt move. the horses do it willingly not forcefully so learn the facts before u run ur mouth
English for sure. i've rode both, but english improves youre ballance. i don't have ANYTHING against western riders, my friends ride western and we all get along just fine !
I love English because I love to feel the adreniline rushing through my body, and then bang, my horse takes off, and we're soaring through the air.
xcounrty, and dressage are the same. polo, not so much for me. but thats ok.
why are we voting on such a stupid thing, causing fights, and enimies. It just a saddle and a discipline, not an important thing like voting for presidents, or other big issues! Sure, I'd love to ride western some day, but im happy with the discipline im in!
No offense to people but ppl who call english riders snobs are wrong, Its not just English, Ive gone to english AND western shows and both types have riders who ARE snobs and ppl who are super nice about it it doesnt have to do with the dicipline they ride its the person! gosh! so STOP fighting theyre both good for different reasons!
@MJthefutureactress hey, judgemental misinformed snob, look up stacy westfall 2006 championship run. if thats not elegant-- scratch that-- if thats not TOTALLY AMAZING and tear jerking, you need counseling.
There is no better! I ride both. I used to show in western events with my quarter horse gelding and now i'm riding hunter/jumpers. I love both. Sure, each saddle may be specialized for a certain purpose, but in reality you can try anything in any saddle. Thats all it is, just different saddles.
ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i did western i could only do it 4 a year & then just leave. english has more of a variety: polo, dressage, xcountry, side saddle, show jumping, hunter/jumpers, hunter derby, equitation, fox hunting, & so on. ME n MY BEST FRIEND LOVE ENGLISH!!!!!! GO ENGLISH!!!!!!!
@ShariPony122 side saddle isnt english its sice saddel an
barrel racing, pole bending, tie down roping, pleasure, walk trot, ribbon roping goat tying, trail, rieging, penning, team roping, team penning (we're alll about the team work ho yeah!) cutting, and much much much more but it would take a while to type it and ive got better things to do
@maybhicks9596 yah were about team work too . because our barn works together and helps eachother with riding and we support our barn members. so its not just western that does that. and yall are hurting calfs...
@ShariPony122 get ur facts straight. in western theres: barrel racing, quads, flags, poles, team roping, calf roping, steer wresting, goat tying, reining, cutting, penning, pleasure, breakaway roping, team penning, and trail riding. ya and theres more but so far its english-9 and western- 15. think again.
i use to ride english and i loved it but i found something i loved more which is barrelracing so ya'll think both styles of riding are so easy or one style is easier think again they both require a lot of skill so my question to all of you why cant we all get along? we all have one thing in common we love to ride and spend tim with our horses. STOP THE FIGHTING!!!!!!
@animalluver153 i do rodeos. western riding does not include bull and bronc riding! thats called rough stock riding. western is on broke horses! and pretty much every western rider that competes does rodeos its the way things go
really? you see, I don't care, about what style I ride, I ride English, but i would love to do western some day. You do get a gallop in English. what do you think hunting and xc is? and I don't see why. I could name loads of things to do in English. i like both so. end of.
ya. there is. people like you probably haven't even ridden english, but hey, not everyone can do western, and not everybody would have the guts to hunting, or xc or driving at the matter. but we all have our opinions.
@MooDyMaRe94 ji barrel race and thats not just guts, its trust and agility too. i even though i ride western, i jump for fun in the pasture, bareback and bridleless. so u better re-think ur little "gutsy" hunters and jumpers, they have dead broke horses and a saddle and bridle. i have absolutely nothing and a crazy quarter horse barrel mare. i did a preformance at a rodeo last week. it was a rodeo camp and they had a camp rodeo and i got to do bareback bridleless jumping
@alicorenee Could you please stop being a dip shit for 2 seconds? I doubt it. And you do realize your not even riding bridle less in your vids. You are using a halter. Big woop. I've jumped 3 ft bareback with a halter. Your horse isn't a hothead either. She's a hell of a lot calmer than my HUNTER. So please fuck off. And stop acting like your the shit. Cause your not. And your barrel mare couldn't make it over anything higher than a 3ft 6 jump. Let alone with a rider of your shitty ability.
@JumperHunterLover that video wasnt my bridleless. my bridleless is on my facebook. i havent posted a riding video in, shoot, maybe since january? and i was jumping yesterday. i was goin on a trail ride but forgot mi keys so i had to ride bareback and bridleless n jump the pasture fence then run around a cornfield and down a road to get to the trail cuz the gate had a padlock on it. and our record is a clean 4'3.
@alicorenee Oh and also, how would you get to the trail if you forget the keys. That means you would have to leave the barn bareback and bridle less. Which makes everything you say wrong. WHICH in turn makes everything you say a lie. And in your vids what are you like 12, 13? I doubt you can drive.
@JumperHunterLover the keys to the tack room n pasture gate. the trail is down the road from my house. and i did leave the barn bareback n bridleless. i ran up 2 the house to get my extra brush and brushed her down, did her feet w/ a pocket knife n then jumped the pasture fence (i measured, its 4'3) ran around a cornfeld to get to the road, then went down the road to the woods. i ride 2 get to the trails anyway.
+not all english riders ride with their horses round like that. Racing,Steeplechase, pleasure, even show jumping and some hunter/equitation. Its fine if you think western is awesome, but you really shouldn't bring down english riders like that.
I like english cause of thrill of jumping & bond with your horse :) I dont ride western but am not putting it down in any way western has da speed instead but also da bond 2
i like watching cross country also, and also showjumping. I think both are pretty cool. I would love to ride both if I had the oppurtunity to ride English also. But my vote is Western, because that is what I ride.
lol until know i just ride English and today will be my first time that i will ride western style i hope enjoying it ...but will it be really a lot different ?... i saw that they don't keep there hand down and are quite relaxed on the horse :D
very true! thank you for pointing that out :D yes english was first, then we came to America and needed a way to work on the farm, and couldn't spend our time worrying about diagnols XD i say as long as your on a horse and treating it with respect, your awesome!
Western is way better! ( my opinion )

Just because the saddle is different, doesn't mean there's no balance in one, and a lot in the other.

i jus gotta say that all of these arguments are ridiculous. u cant really compare the two. i ride both and have competed in both. i find dressage the hardest, then jumping, then barrel racing. but they all require u to use different parts of u and ur horse. western is for a more relaxed and easy look and (in my opinion) more fun and free. but dressage demands more of ur horse and more balance. a bigger connection. and jumping is still hard but not as demanding as dressage is u have a good horse.

lsevriens 2 years ago
thats kinda mean, u really shouldnt stoop to their level. western is pretty hard and is different than english. but i do agree that dressage is very difficult--the most difficult. but if some western riders think that its easy just hold ur chin and know that u can beat them in any competition and let it go.
hmbhaines 2 years ago
Okay guys, seriously. They are both the same, who cares if one is more athletic, blah blah, and one is more comfortable, we are all riding because we love to do it. All this prejudice stuff is crap. Look to the right, and select the video titled: STERYOTYPE: English and Western Riding. That video speaks the raw truth.
P.S.: But, I am a proud western rider.

English is about grace, becoming one with your horse, getting them to work their absolute best.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
so is western
dgafbarrelracer187 2 years ago
I would disagree. I event, so I have to master three disaplines. Western tack is so bulky that I personly feel that you can't feel the horse as well as you could in a dressage saddle.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
@StormValleyStables i ride western, and in some saddles that is true. all of my saddles were chosen because i can feel them underneath me tho. i have an english saddle that i can't feel my horse under me at all...i think it depends on the quality and who makes it
cowgirljess718 1 year ago
@StormValleyStables there are a bunch of non bulky western saddles. The roping saddle are the bulkiest, but there's loads of barrel saddles that let you feel your horse. Ofcourse less saddle lets you feel your horse more. for that particular thing I'd still prefer to ride bareback.

@dgafbarrelracer187 yah and running around barrels looking like an idiot " looks fucking retarded".. fyi

WESTERN IS THE SHIT. english people can stfu, western was the first way horses were rode, and english should suck a dick, they think they got it all in the palm of there hands with the little saddles, tight pants and a bunch of non sense on there horses faces, ENGLISH PEOPLE BACK OFF YOUR HORSES HEADS, LEARN HOW TO NECK REIN, IT DOESNT HURT THERE MOUTHSS!!!

why are you trying to make everyone mad? you obviously dont know anything about english, english riders are not snobs, and you really need to get your facts straight, western was not the first way horses were riden, and it doesnt matter, because both sports involve horses that are loved by us. and from your comment it seems you have quite a few anger issues, so i feel sorry for the horses you ride.

great job. English came first, the calvery training. Western came in the 1800s, when cowboys needed a comfy saddle they could sit in all day.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
actually the first saddles were calvary saddles; and they reflect more of an english style.
western was first in america; i do believe

Acctually, the english saddle was used alot before the 1800s when cowboys needed something that would be comfy all day.

@dgafbarrelracer187
i know english riders dont use neck reining. we dont need to. we use our LEGS and eyes and head. mmk. thanksss
PeaceLoveKampa 2 years ago
@PeaceLoveKampa
your horsdes arent broke enough to neck rein. many many western riders ride brideless, hmmmmm, you would have to use your legs for that, yea, so shut up bitchhh.
YOU DONT UE YOUR LEGS ENOUGH CAUSE YOU GUYS CANT LET GO OF THE REINS AT ALL TO LET YOUR HORSES HEAD GO, YOUR PATHETIC, HAHAHA, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW PATHETICLLY YOU RIDE,
dgafbarrelracer187 2 years ago
@dgafbarrelracer187
oh wow, not broke enough? english riders in the olympics and many that arent in the olympics JUMP like 6 feet bridleless! and some/most horses get excited when jumping so they get extremely FAST. i have jumped 2'3 no hands and my horse is still pretty green-ish. and just go watch my videos to see "how pathetically i ride" :) i have been told MANY MANY MANY times i am a good rider and have nice eq. not to brag im juss trying to prove a point.
PeaceLoveKampa 2 years ago
its not impressive, i have watched some, i was not intersested, my BARREL horse jumps higher than that.
yea, and everywhere i go, agt least 3people tell me they think i am a great rider, alot of which want me to ride there horses and train them.
dgafbarrelracer187 2 years ago
your barrel horse jumps higher than my horse? or higher then 6 feet? if your talking about higher than my horse, idc. my horse only started being trained how to jump a year ago and a half ago. soo whatever. i trained my horse everything i know and a few other horses.
wellll, im done with this so adios.
PeaceLoveKampa 2 years ago
Your horse. A YEAR AND AHALF AGO?!?!?!?! wow, i started my horse on barrels 5 months ago, it took you over a year to get your horse over a jump correctly? my horse learned to go over a jump correctly in 20 minutes.
dgafbarrelracer187 2 years ago
she hated to canter, mmk? she learned fast but she wouldnt canter so my trainer wouldnt let her go much higher.

I compleatly agrea with withering tales, its very true how it looks like they are too tight, and I don't blame you for thinking that. And some are, just like some western reins are too tight even if they look long. its a matter of how heavey or strong the bit is. I love western and english :)

I love WESTERN cuz we don't tug on the bit all the time and we don't have really tight reins like english people. WE have loose reins to let the horse free to drop him or her's head. We are much more gentle with the bit and I think the horse apreciates western riders better!!!
ponypaula 2 years ago
I love western, and primarily ride it. But what you said I have to disagree with, riding both. English is a contact sport. A good rider knows that the "tight reins" in english is more of an illusion than anything. They have lighter bits, western have harsher, heaveir bits so the horse has the same about of contact as in english xP
WitheringTales 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
I kinda agree we use harsher bits but not always and english riders some time use harsh bits too. Alot of western riders don't use these bits as much anyway.
ponypaula 2 years ago
No they are not. ALL bits are harsh depending on the rider. If the bit is IN the horse's mouth, they can feel it NO matter who is holding the reins. You are stereotyping and its wrong. Most riders use heavier ports in shows because snaffles are not aloud over a certain age. Please understand that I am not bashing you, most -western only- riders feel this way, and riding both, I know the difference.
WitheringTales 2 years ago 2
well the tighter the reins are the more the horse can feel the bit!!!
ponypaula 2 years ago
Of course, I never denied that. But an english bit is light and the supposed "tight reins" are, once again, an illusion. They are driving the horse into the bridle, if you know what that even means. There really is no tighteness in the reins in a good rider, no matter what the discipline. I feel like I am repeating myself again to explain it to you xP
WitheringTales 2 years ago 3
Um I ride Western But I do like to jump english
mynabala 2 years ago 2
they are both equally challenging
horse2343 2 years ago 3
also i have nothing against western riders
horse2343 2 years ago
In English it isn't about having our horses heads in the air pulling through the bit. The idea is to have the horse light in our hands. I have done both english and western and i enjoy english much more. Also our horses are usually much more spirited so it can be (not always) more difficult.
horse2343 2 years ago
WTF!!! In western the idea is to be light on the bit!!!! In english you guys are always pulling on your horses reins with the tightest reins ever!! WTF!! You do not no any thing!! Watch western pleasure then watch jumping and you will see the differernce!!
ponypaula 2 years ago
FYI not all western riders are the same and neither are english riders! I have done both dressage and jumping and my trainers whole thing is on being light with your hands!!!
horse2343 2 years ago
You can't compare western pleasure and jumping against eachother, they are completly different things you douche! Maybe jumping and barrel racing. both are fast and require quick turns. Maybe even western pleasure and dressage. But western pleasure and jumping please!
englishrider94 2 years ago
@englishrider94 umm, barrel racing is way harder than jumping! in jumping u canter but in barrel racing u lope and the horse and rider practically go sideways! in jumping all u have 2 do is lean 4ward!
alicorenee 2 years ago
englishrider94 2 years ago
yes leaning forward right.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
ya most of those things u do w/ western 2! and galloping? thats for people who are just starting out! loping is the fastest gait mind you!! and thats wat western is about! speed and loving the heck outta your horse! english is for girls! western is for hard-core country riders!!!
alicorenee 2 years ago
No galloping is not for beginners, maybe letting your horse run around on the forhand, but not a XC gallop. You have to balance your horse in the gallop, not let them fall on the forehand, set them up for a jump etc. If english is for girls then why is the top of the sport dominated by male riders?
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
alicorenee -I'm english. Oh, use proper spelling and grammar, more people might take you seriously.
jberban420 2 years ago 2
@jberban420 i can use proper spellin and grammar if i want to! and my horse bucked me off and ran around the arena! i caught her got back on her and rode the rest of the pattern! and u may b trained in each saddle equally but u obviously dont know the slang, a lope is as fast is a horse can go in western terms and i doubt u can kick my ass in any western sport and btw how do u compete in pleasure? and cutting requires a highly trained horse and BARRELS IS MY LIFE i can kick UR ASS in barrels >:(
alicorenee 2 years ago
your horse ran around the arena? big deal. try riding with broken ribs and fingers. not very easy at all. haven't you heard of western pleasure classes? it's beside the point, I can kick your ass at your own game, any day.

you are totally correct. I hate when English people try to think they are smarter , have they seen cutting? hahahahahaha

StormValleyStables 2 years ago
What about cutting? You sit there and let the horse chase a cow.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
@StormValleyStables u do more than that! no offense to people who do cutting but the horse has to know that the cow cant get to the herd and if you lift your hands at all u get a bad score bcuz the horse is suppose to do EVERYTHING BY THEMSELVES!
alicorenee 2 years ago
that's the problem I have with it. Riding is about teamwork, and if you just sit there and let the horse do it all, I don't think that's fair to the horse
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
@StormValleyStables r u serious? it is teamwork u dumbass! who do you think trained the horse? how long do you think the training for a horse that all you have to do is point out a calf and they cut it and keep it away from the herd takes? gosh you need to do some research! look up calf cutting on yt!

@ponypaula listen u obviously dont know anything about english. i ride dressage and if u watch any professional dressage lessons or clinics you see that the trainers have the person riding the horse give up hger reins and the horses head doesnt move. the horses do it willingly not forcefully so learn the facts before u run ur mouth
horsesrock15012 1 year ago
Western, because people who ride english cant give there horses there heads, unlike western riders, we can literally drop the reins, we dont have our horses with there heads straight in the air, and pulling through the bit.

why are we voting on such a stupid thing, causing fights, and enimies. It just a saddle and a discipline, not an important thing like voting for presidents, or other big issues! Sure, I'd love to ride western some day, but im happy with the discipline im in!

barrel racing, pole bending, tie down roping, pleasure, walk trot, ribbon roping goat tying, trail, rieging, penning, team roping, team penning (we're alll about the team work ho yeah!) cutting, and much much much more but it would take a while to type it and ive got better things to do

@MooDyMaRe94 ji barrel race and thats not just guts, its trust and agility too. i even though i ride western, i jump for fun in the pasture, bareback and bridleless. so u better re-think ur little "gutsy" hunters and jumpers, they have dead broke horses and a saddle and bridle. i have absolutely nothing and a crazy quarter horse barrel mare. i did a preformance at a rodeo last week. it was a rodeo camp and they had a camp rodeo and i got to do bareback bridleless jumping
alicorenee 1 year ago
@alicorenee Could you please stop being a dip shit for 2 seconds? I doubt it. And you do realize your not even riding bridle less in your vids. You are using a halter. Big woop. I've jumped 3 ft bareback with a halter. Your horse isn't a hothead either. She's a hell of a lot calmer than my HUNTER. So please fuck off. And stop acting like your the shit. Cause your not. And your barrel mare couldn't make it over anything higher than a 3ft 6 jump. Let alone with a rider of your shitty ability.
JumperHunterLover 1 year ago
@JumperHunterLover that video wasnt my bridleless. my bridleless is on my facebook. i havent posted a riding video in, shoot, maybe since january? and i was jumping yesterday. i was goin on a trail ride but forgot mi keys so i had to ride bareback and bridleless n jump the pasture fence then run around a cornfield and down a road to get to the trail cuz the gate had a padlock on it. and our record is a clean 4'3.
alicorenee 1 year ago
@alicorenee unless your measured it then I doubt it.
JumperHunterLover 1 year ago
@alicorenee Oh and also, how would you get to the trail if you forget the keys. That means you would have to leave the barn bareback and bridle less. Which makes everything you say wrong. WHICH in turn makes everything you say a lie. And in your vids what are you like 12, 13? I doubt you can drive.
JumperHunterLover 1 year ago
@JumperHunterLover the keys to the tack room n pasture gate. the trail is down the road from my house. and i did leave the barn bareback n bridleless. i ran up 2 the house to get my extra brush and brushed her down, did her feet w/ a pocket knife n then jumped the pasture fence (i measured, its 4'3) ran around a cornfeld to get to the road, then went down the road to the woods. i ride 2 get to the trails anyway.
