Sub-Sahara Africa seems to suffer endlessly. I live in Central Florida and there is an outbreak of MRSA (drug resistant staph aureus) and 1-2 kids have died and several more have become seriously ill. Parents are worried. Of course, it's not as horrific as this TB (unless you are a parent who lost a child to MRSA). I believe drug resistant germs will be more prevalent as time passes.
How resistant is it,can it be treated properly?. TB was practically eradicated in the United States for a long time, but recently drug resistant forms of TB have been appearing again mostly in the southern states courtesy of our 10 million illegal immigrants. All these people should be cared for, for themselves and others.

Sub-Sahara Africa seems to suffer endlessly. I live in Central Florida and there is an outbreak of MRSA (drug resistant staph aureus) and 1-2 kids have died and several more have become seriously ill. Parents are worried. Of course, it's not as horrific as this TB (unless you are a parent who lost a child to MRSA). I believe drug resistant germs will be more prevalent as time passes.

How resistant is it,can it be treated properly?. South Africa does have some huge hospitals to treat T.B. patients but many folk don't trust them to go and get proper treatment(many still believe in black magic). Some putting shit/racist comments on here need to go look in 1800-1930's graves in a Cemetery and see all the babies kids/young adults who died in Europe and U.S. due to Diphtheria Diarrhea Cholera e.t.c. (MILLIONS OF FLUE PANDEMIC IN 1918).

TB was practically eradicated in the United States for a long time, but recently drug resistant forms of TB have been appearing again mostly in the southern states courtesy of our 10 million illegal immigrants. Hence the reason why we need to stop letting foreigners cross the border without being medically examined and vaccinated. Otherwise an epidemic will occur again.

I lost my mother to cancer that metastasized in her brain when I was 16 years old. My sister and I were left to raise ourselves, so I know all about the ugly side of life.
My mother didn't live to see me graduate or to see her grandchildren, and there are many times when I wish she was still here.
But it's all a part of life, just as I've come to terms that one day my wife and I will die and leave our children and so on.
I don't fear death, nor am I moved by it. Why fear the inevitable?

This is ridiculous.The movie has shown 75% of false side. This movie shows India, South africa, Thai don`t have the facilities for TB patients. I agree there are lots of patients of TB and there is also cure. But problem is people don`t know where to go for it. I request the photographer, pls don`t show half truth n half your immagination. The stable countries like England are the ones complaining, not these countries! Last time I checked, no one BUT the United States wanted us to "help" in Iraq. Look where that's lead us.

My grandmother died of TB. So, I've been conscious of it. And, recently, I've seen that homeless in my town, not only have it but, are being served by social organizations that feed homeless in a "Dining Hall." These TB infected people are sitting with others who don't have TB. There's no organization that helps TB sufferers. And, the help for the homeless is limited. All these people should be cared for, for themselves and others.

XDR-TB is what happens when people get TB, take the treatment, get a little better, and stop the treatment before all the TB is gone. the ones that survived in their system lived through the first part of the treatment. so when they start treatment again, it dosn't work. you could say the Virus (i THINK it's a virus) is like one big entity, and part of it dies, but it learns from it's mistakes.

I really have compassion for these people and think the U.S. should help these countries where 100,000's of people look like they eat one meal a week. We need to help people in Darfur, Sudan, Ethiopia,etc. Those are people in need. I compare this to people coming from Katrina relief and some of the ones we helped in Texas. I had never seen so many people so overweight in all my life. And seeing those people trying to be airlifted out of there after the flood.Those people were fat!Help the needy!

Why are we worried about Africa so badly? They are the fastest growing continent (population wise). Maybe if they stop having so many kids they can afford to prosper. that's an interesting point; I've never really thought about that.
but, maybe a montage like this would inspire people around the world to donate to curing this disease. no, it obviously won't help the cause directly, and even if the camera they used to take these photographs costs $500-1000usd, I'd be really surprised that if this aired on national television around the world, that donations wouldn't equal or surpass the price of the camera.
I'd be surprised if the journalist hasn't donated.

I recently watched a documentary on National Geographic photographers and there was a story of how one picture of this impoverished boy in South America resulted in hundreds of people sending in money. The $70,000 was used to build a school in the area and provide sheep for the boy. That alone shows the power of a photograph.
