so lets say i pick a 1 4 5 chord progression .. and i will most likely use any mode depending if its lets say an cminor7 for 1 and Fminor and gminor i can use the minor modes related do that right? or am i going about this all wrong?

I was trying to respond and then lost the response..crazy you tube. anyway - I really like this vid. I would suggest NOT thinking about what mode goes where (not as a default) rather, "see the entire key across the fret board. You know?

Thanks for the vid man. I have been trying apply the modes the hard way with the by trying to match the note with the name of the scale instead of thinking of the number position of the note in its corresponding scale. Simple things man,, simple things.

Thanks for this! Just a friendly correction -- the mode on 3 is phrygian, not locrian.

yes you are correct. for some reason I always get the Phrygian and Locrian mode names mixed up (even thoug hI'll play them correctly).
