Thank you so much for this video! I'm brand new at this and got an Acer 250, so my dad and i could bond on something we both enjoy. This really helped. Any other tips? and can any body recommend detecting locations for coins such as pre-1964 coins like silver quarters, mercury dimes, and morgan dollars? I would die if i found a morgan dollar those are so cool.
The trouble is that it's not possible to pinpoint so accurately. If you prop a coin up at a 45 degree angle and then try and pinpoint it "blind" you will not be able to do it because it's not possible. Also this operation took too long. I would never try to dig things with that trowel because it would take forever if they were deep.
I took a Tubeless tire repair handle that you use to insert the plug in a tire with and removed the metal part and inserted a piece of stainless steel rod in the handle that was 8 inches long to hold the plug from flopping back over as your recovering the target.
If anyone wants to see what this looks like just PM me here on Youtube
great video, and if everyone would do this, it would benefit us all. Alot of property owners will not allow treasure hunters because they don't want their yard looking like crap after they leave. I wish everyone on here would watch this video. Again nice video
That's exactly the reason I posted this video. It wasn't that long ago that I was a newbie and didn't have any good reference material to tell me how to do it. I want everyone who is new to the hobby to have good instructions. That way they can create a good opinion in the public's eye about metal detecting. All it takes is one person making a mess of a public park to ruin the reputation of all the people practicing proper technique.
Yeah, I've even had grounds-keepers approach me while digging and they have no issue with what I'm doing because I leave no evidence that I was there.

the grass will die ,wait and see, this guy ruins the hobby for us who do dig nice holes!

Do you always probe? I have very practice in probing as I have been told I could damage the item I'm hunting for.

Rod Diameter 5/16 inch and you use epoxy to glue it in after it has been threaded

This is an excellent video. I wish all the newbies that don't know the proper way to retrieve a target would watch this.

Excellent video,
I've been using this method for almost 30 years digging 1000's of targets & have had very little problems.....

Its the worms that pull down everything. You can see them on early mornings.
Other thing is the moles. Sometimes I find drink cans quite deep. Dont know how they do it though :)
Nice vids! Keep posting!
