Stating the obvious, the korean guy at the end is not a trained actor. Since my mom is korean and an accountant for many of the Korean businesses in the baltimore-metro area, she knows several of the Korean store owners who acted in the series, and thus the locations and store owners are authentic.
Cutty is by far and away my favourite character from the whole series. Understated, looking for a way to get good, but still understands his name and what he stood for, and who he stood with. He respected everybody before making a move, and when Avon simply granted him a way out of the game, it showed how much his name meant to the game. Love this dude

Something else to think about too...compared to the Barksdale Org., Marlo's crew was significantly younger. Where as Barksdales were more logical about their moves, Marlo's crew just took out whomever was in the way, "friend" or foe....Also, a point I noticed in this season was that the relationship between the younger generation and the older, more wiser gen. in different ways was somewhat stagnant and hostile, and had too much distrust.

I agree with you, though that when Barksdale's crew put hits out on people, it happened with characters we either didn't see too much of or get too attached to (Stinkum, Little Man, the witnesses, Orlando) with the EXCEPTION of D'Angelo and Wallace.
There were those fair share of killings from Marlo's crew (Lil' Kevin, Lex, Andre, NYC dealers) but the significant killings of Prop Joe and Bodie, who we knew from the Barksdale era right from season 1...I think that also strikes nerves with viewers
I think he told him to go with his people because Cutty had enough. He tried his hardest to prove to Michael that he wanted the best for him and it took him getting shot for Mike to wake up a bit. This scene represents the older generation giving up on the youth...it's almost like this scene was saying: "We're doing all that we can do and you still don't trust us...what more do you want?"

Michael also showed heart by not letting Monk finish him off, b/c there was no point. Cutty did all he could, but he couldn't stop destiny. One soldier to another, he knew he had to let Michael go.

I think this scene foreshadows Michael becoming the next Omar. Omar doesn't attack civilians, as per his code. Michael tries to act hard and indifferent to Cutty in this scene. It's only when Cutty is shot that Michael realizes (albeit too late) that Cutty's not in the game anymore ("The game ain't in me no more) and was actually genuine in his offer to help him. That's why he stops Monk from finishing the job: He's hardened, but good at heart and doesn't put his gun on those not ib the game.

Even when Fruit pulled a joint on him, and they ended up meeting face to face later on Fruit's corner, he knew that that he fucked up by pulling a gun on him. At first, this made me hate Monk. But really though, you're a gangster, hanging out with your boys, when a dude you don't even know walks up and starts talking to one of them, and touching them when they were told not to. So you have to do something or be looked on as a total bitch. So you can try to duke it out, but you know you're going down, and, again, don't wanna look like a bitch. Sooo....kneecap.

Something else to think about too...compared to the Barksdale Org., Marlo's crew was significantly younger. Where as Barksdales were more logical about their moves, Marlo's crew just took out whomever was in the way, "friend" or foe....Also, a point I noticed in this season was that the relationship between the younger generation and the older, more wiser gen. in different ways was somewhat stagnant and hostile, and had too much distrust.

I agree with you, though that when Barksdale's crew put hits out on people, it happened with characters we either didn't see too much of or get too attached to (Stinkum, Little Man, the witnesses, Orlando) with the EXCEPTION of D'Angelo and Wallace.
There were those fair share of killings from Marlo's crew (Lil' Kevin, Lex, Andre, NYC dealers) but the significant killings of Prop Joe and Bodie, who we knew from the Barksdale era right from season 1...I think that also strikes nerves with viewers

I think he told him to go with his people because Cutty had enough. He tried his hardest to prove to Michael that he wanted the best for him and it took him getting shot for Mike to wake up a bit. This scene represents the older generation giving up on the youth...it's almost like this scene was saying: "We're doing all that we can do and you still don't trust us...what more do you want?"

@NicolasYates I don't agree wholeheartedly. I just think that Michael felt some compassion for Cutty once he was stretched out on the curb. Michael also showed heart by not letting Monk finish him off, b/c there was no point. Cutty did all he could, but he couldn't stop destiny. One soldier to another, he knew he had to let Michael go.

I think this scene foreshadows Michael becoming the next Omar. Omar doesn't attack civilians, as per his code. Michael tries to act hard and indifferent to Cutty in this scene. It's only when Cutty is shot that Michael realizes (albeit too late) that Cutty's not in the game anymore ("The game ain't in me no more) and was actually genuine in his offer to help him. That's why he stops Monk from finishing the job: He's hardened, but good at heart and doesn't put his gun on those not ib the game.

Even when Fruit pulled a joint on him, and they ended up meeting face to face later on Fruit's corner, he knew that that he fucked up by pulling a gun on him. kinda surprised, having lived the life, Cutty wasn't more perceptive in how 2 deal with Michael. kids develop their own comfort zones (or not) with adults. and clearly cutty knew Mike was uncomfortable around him 4 whatever reason. seems like instead of cutting him off (no pun intended), Cutty could've just let Mike know that he was there 4 him if he ever wanted help--and left it at that. but jawing w/a bunch of gangstas on the corner, alone, at night, and w/out some heat? craziness!!!
