  • this song is soooooooooo beautiful!!! makes me cry tho! Cash is my favorite cd by Johnny Cash...i love his voice!!!! soooo amazing! Makes me like U2 a little bit more.

  • u2 live version in 2005 sucks donkey balls.

  • Jamiroquai was right to say sheril cole is an amateur and sux. Ask her if she can make music like this.

  • I really love Cash's voice ... I never felt a voice as powerful as his (except for Elvis's of course)

Thanks for uploading such beauty :) ... and I also love the video very much :)

  • you should vision the real world news

  • the song is good but the video is gay

  • Johnny Cash is awesome. Great Video too.

(I love this song despite the U2 association - U2, Bono, and Zooropa - I generally surrender to Bon Buddhism, and the Guru Noropa, who taught the six yogas. Keep U2 out of my head....)

  • @lazzara399 yogic flying!!!

  • Thankfully, I can further distance Bono of U2 from my religion, which is Bon - as the stage name Bono is apparently short for "Bono Vox" which is Latin (Not Tibetan, nor that of Zhang Zhung) for "Good Voice."

Personally, "good voice" may be the "big lie" of the band U2.....

    Aum Ah Hung Phet Svaha

  • @lazzara399

leave us alone with your false guru!

the real guru is BONO VOX and there is only one true religion in this world!

    its named U2!!! :D

  • @jimpansen79 I I have offended the U2ians with my distinguishment, I sincerly apologize.....and I do look forward to the publication of their doctrine on the perfection of truth...

Personally, If I were to chuck my religion for an Irish Singer - I would much rather choose Sinead O'Conner. She's much prettier to worship. :o)

  • I've always loved Johnny Cash...I think my son who is into animated movies will like this video...

  • I must say that you did a fine job on this back then... had to take you some time.

  • Actually the track "The Wonderer" comes from U2's album Zooropa (1993) and it was composed by Bono, Clayton, Edge, Mullen. It was latter included in the compilation The Legend of Johnny Cash (2005). Mr Johnny Cash does a great job here (of course he is a legend); and the first time I heard something from him was when I bought U2's Zooropa. One of the best songs in that album is precisely this one. I was 18 yrs old back then...time flies for sure.

  • A very powerful video to go along with a powerful song btw.

  • I bought Zooropa in 2003, and I was really surprised when I got to this song. I don't know who wrote the lyrics, it was either Bono or Mr. Cash I think, but either way it's one of the very best I've ever read. The music sounds so old-age country and yet so cyberpunk-futuristic.

  • Bonos wrote the song.

  • dion sang it before bono was even born

  • Dion's song was a completely different song, Bono wrote this and wanted Johnny Cash to sing it.

  • U2 wrote The Wanderer. Johnny Cash only sang it because Bono insisted.

  • I know better songs of Johnny

  • LOL.....EXCELLANT

  • only patters.....this is a masterpiece

  • C*O*O*L

  • This is my first time listening to this song. I am already in love with it.

  • SWEET

  • Ouai! c'est vrai! c'est la dernière chanson de l'album ZOOROPA de U2 qu'ils ont remixé avec la voix de Johnny Cash. Ca rend super bien!

  • this isn't Cash's usual sound... is it some kind of remix or did he record it with U2?

  • recorded with U2! it is on U2s zooropa album! Bono wrote it and wanted Johnny cash to sing it! great song

  • The Wanderer is a 100 % U2 song. The reason why Johnny Cash sings it is that Bono insisted that Johnny Cash has to sing it on record.

  • @promagnum No he didn't. U2 wrote The Wanderer. Johnny Cash only sang it because Bono insisted.

  • I have a picture of a song called "The Wanderlust" with mostly the same lyrics in a picture frame, with Johnny's handwriting.

  • @promagnum Well I don't know about that one but U2 wrote The Wanderer, it's completely a U2 song. Johnny Cash only sang it.

  • amazing amazing song love u2 and j cash :D

  • Do your research sir. This song WAS WRITTEN by Bono FOR Johny Cash. It was the last song on U2's Zooropa album in 1993. It's a Brian Eno production in case you can't tell. On the other hand you probably don't even know who Eno is.

  • Clearly a song written by Bono...and the music is so not by Cash it's U2 & Eno!

  • This is a song written by U2, you idiots. They recorded it with Johnny Cash.

  • I read somewhere that Johnny Cash wasn't in the studio with U2, that the song was recorded and sent to Johnny who then sang the lyrics on the record.

  • One of best songs put to paper.

    Bono a great song writer

    RIP - JC !!!

  • Man, this is a GREAT song!!!!

    Cool video too

  • to most that messaged below..chill out..have fun..enjoy life..enjoy good music...enjoy games..enjoy nature..things dont have to be perfect, nothing in this world is..learn to appreciate the little things becuase one day you will have regrets..unlike U2 and Johnny"the man"Cash!!!

    cheers!!

  • Doesn't matter what they say or do. This song is class (FULLSTOP)

  • what an underrated song god bless you johnny

  • get a life

  • And yet he did. And even sang a song bono's written fort him. He had respect - which you don't.

  • I never played the game, but I sure like the song! Thanks for posting it! :c)

  • final fantasy ix best game in the world thanks so much 4 posting this vid very good :)

  • i love this what an awesome vid

  • is it on a album?

  • It the 10th song of U2's Zooropa released in 1993.

  • DUH

  • Still really cool.

  • What a bizarre marriage of music and visual...but it works

    thank you

  • Hoi (vraagje;-) hoe voeg je teks toe (lyrics)

    I went out walking

    Through streets paved with gold

  • The Final Fantasy videos look amazing & this is 1 of my favorite Johnny Ca$h songs.

  • Actually, it's a U2 song which they recorded with Johnny!

  • The Final Fantasy video games look fun & the graphics are just out of this world! :)

  • Great stuff!

  • this video doesn' really fit to the song but the song itself is still fantastic. man, what lyrics!

  • Where is the rest of the song?

  • to schweisshund007, why is it that only religious people who can feel emotions ? I love this song, yet are not religious in any way, does it matter if i am or not ?

  • Absolutely great song.

  • Great post, thanks!

  • Any man of valour was and is a believer.

Some believe in there limited senses more than they believe in their hearts.

One who touches hes/her own limits, becomes a believer.

Lazy, ignorant people will never reach their own limits ... and they'd like to impose their selfenforced boundaries on others.

  • Beautiful and true.

  • and some people dont can english

  • Be quiet! You're distracting me from the music

  • Johnny Cash was a believer .... his brother Jack took a week to die from a horrible sawmill accident and professed to see angels and God in his last hour. Most of Cash songs are centered on "redemption". Just thought the atheists and agnostics should know ;)

  • Hahaha, oh please.

  • So?

  • goood cash with u2 song... Awesome

  • THIS MAY BE THE BEST SONG EVER!

  • They say they want the kingdom,

But they don't want God in it.

  • maybe because a kingdom doesn't need a god to be a kingdom.

  • He said THE kingdom, not A kingdom. I'm an atheist, but it's still a great line.

  • well, yes, but in english, the line could apply to any kingdom, given my response - *a* kingdom still doesn't need a god to be a kingdom ;P I'm agnostic, myself, anyway :D "They say they want the kingdom, but they don't want the god it in." hooray for free choice of religion ;D

  • You uh, you really don't get the point of the song do you?

  • of course I do! it's pointing north! :| right?

  • :-|

  • I know that Elvis Presley said that Cash had a really beautiful voice. I had forgotten or hadn't been aware of how beautiful Cash's voice really was.

  • He does have a beautiful voice :)

  • johnny cash rocks!

  • Wow. I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. Amazing recording.

Meh on the video. Don't really think it fits.

Question, I can't figure this out. He goes out with a Bible and a gun, says he'll "be home soon." Suicide?

  • It isn't your choice of wording, it's "Bible and the sun".

  • Although - just listened again..... It was written by Bono as "Bible and the sun"...... Certainly comes over as gun !!!!

  • It's bible and a gun.

  • Googled the lyrics and it is "Bible and a gun"

  • "Bible and the Son"... as in Jesus?

  • It's "bible and a gun"

  • U r right

  • Bono doesn't want any guns to be used, so he changed it to "sun" instead of "gun". That's my opinion.

  • He changed the word gun to sun in the song lyrics?

  • That's dumb. Ruins the imagery of a Bible and a gun.

  • definately "Bible and a gun" but i think you shouldn't take it word-by-word. there is a lot more inside. i personally find this sentence the most amazing lyrics ever written

  • Cash was awesome and to country music what U2 is to rock

  • He still is awesome

  • @sazvatore1414 if he was what u2 is to rock he would be floating around a pool waiting to be decayed by bacteria surrounded by 100% recycled toilet paper. This song is only good because of johnny.

  • @CommunistProgressive that's the beautiful thing about living in a free society.it was just my opinon but you know what they say about that, they're just like assholes and everyone has one...be kewl dude

  • In a bit of trivia, for those unfamiliar with FF9, the maps seen in the video were made by the video's creator, and were not a part of the various animated cutscenes .

    --Dancougar

  • this video doesnt really go with the song but U2 is amazing

  • interesting... is this footage from a video game or a movie?

  • That's Final Fantasy IX.

  • just goes to show that the legend Johnny Cash can adapt to any musical genre...thanks awesome
