@GKGOOKINS, Well, I am redoing the stairs but, with out that 10 foot clearance, my cabin would be an igloo, not a cabin (with all that snow that is). Besides, it keeps you young climbing those stairs! lol!
@Kittenkattan Thanks for the info. I may be moving to a rural area where it gets cold, do you mean the house is better up high for snow reasons? I could use some pointers about that. Thanks again, Gary
@GKGOOKINS , Yes, in the year that that video was made, we had 80 inches of snow in one week, The snow was up to the porch! So, yes, you need to keep it at least 10 feet off the ground so you are safely above that snow line.
Advice? ok here goes. In your type of land scape Dairy goats and chickens will be your best type of livestock and give dairy and meat (bible says they are clean) so will be biggest bang for the buck. get books on goats and chickens and read first. Then put at least 55 gal rain barrels at all your down spouts. be sure to screen filter the intake. cheap 55 gal drums can be had at large laundry cleaners, get the old bleach barrels not the soap. Want more. YouTube search Dutch oven ccmp cooking
I can not take credit for building this wonderful home. I took my "Down Payment Money" and got all this. It took 20 years of saving to make it happen. So, you can do it too. Just need a dream and discipline.
@Kittenkattan No need to respond to such idiocy. Great vids. I just found you and I notice that Dsarti1 has left you some comments. He has some good vids as well.
It looks very small. At least you are out in nature.

should have put those solar panels on a pole in the yard, easyer to keep clean so you can get more power
dsarti1 2 years ago
They are now. I just had them moved and upgraded the panels.
