i think it's for backup vocals as well (less money required for them with the CD playing, and they don't need musicians either so less money again)

Yeah, but they don't put it because shes new, usually all singers do it, like in concerts, but no one notices it in concerts, because they put it so it can mix in with their voice. And no one sounds the same live because they are moving allot, and when they record they could be standing and not moving.

no, shakira just has a deep voice, this girl just has a really good range because of all the training shes had with her voice... she sings classical too... THATs why =)
