I'm sorry but what's the point of his video? I thought this was going to be a install/connection video...not a video showing that you installed remote start
OOOH MY GOD I GOT THE GALAXY 5000 TWO WAY ALARM... WERE U LIVE IT SO IL PAY YOU TOO DO MINE WERE CAN I GET IT DONE RIGHT!! It started and stopped like the company designed it too,so he done something right! 400.00 buys alot of "real spaghetti" for his kids. Since most people on here cant spell I can asume they cant read so you might want to call this dude and ask him to read the directions to you or put the damn thing in your car. He'll probably only charge 200.00 for either.
i have installed plenty of alarms in my day.. someone was bashing about his install.. thing i learned over the years doing it is use correct or larger guage wire, and always consult with manual regardless to make sure if relays are needed you use them. i did a surestart a long time ago and the unit says it has built in relays, but manual reccomends using one because the internal ones arent very strong.. likewise i love to see people save money and learn a lesson..
great job bro i already have an alarm with remote start on my vehicle and i want to change it out ...My question is are all alarms basically wired the same (like audio equipment) if so i am about to save 500 and have me some Italian for dinner also
I always DIY my stereos and do a far better job than the installation shops do, but I'm not so sure I could do this. That's a lot of shit! Is it pretty straight-forward?
hi i bought a python 991 remote start and security system I am competant with electrical and electronic equipment so naturally i want to save the money of pro install like you but i don't have the complete install manual and the company i bought it from does not want to give it to me how did you get all your paperwork???
This is good to see that it's not impossible to install one of these things yourself after all. I too refuse to pay an "authorized dealer" aka "overpriced dealer" to install this if I can do it myself! Thanks for giving me hope lol
@yungc1019 no, the price of install is included in the total price of the alarm, except for any add-ons or additional labor. those shops are bound by their contract with DEI to sell it with install because it has a lifetime labor warranty
@Slody4Futbol thats what i've tried to explain to MANY people, but they dont seem to listen.... they just want to think every car audio shop or whoever is out to get their money, when IN FACT , DEI includes the install with the alarm because not only does it void the warranty, it voids the insurance deductible they give if the car is stolen while the car was armed.
@yungc1019 Best buy DON'T do it for free!! The price of install is calculated into their price. The unit itself is around $100 - $150, the rest is labor costs!
Yes, they do. On DEI alarm systems (viper, clifford, python, avital, etc), the price of install is included in the alarm price ( excluding any kind of adapters you will need for your specific car ).
Great grammar by the way in your first sentence up there, it reflects large amounts of intelligence. The fact that you put your grammatical error in capital letters made me laugh.
I paid $430.19 total with installation and sales tax for the Avital 4103LX. Invoice says labor is 129.99, paying for two hours of labor for a job that takes 6-8 hours, actual system was 270.00 and the idata system was 70.00... add 30.20 sales tax and you got yourself an expensive modification... I know some were asking how much it costs
I am installing the 5902 in my van, but damn I have like no space to work under the dash, that car has lots of room lucky, the main issue now is i am having trouble getting the wires through the fire wall
I had the 5901 install on my mazda 3 2010 but the technicain did not know how to work the locks to lock and unlock i'm using the mazda remote to lock my car and the viper remote tto arm it and disarm do you know why. I'm thinking of removing it
your video is good to show that it can be done, HOWEVER it doesn't show anyone how to do it.
I just installed a Ultra Starter 1271m for a manual transmission on my 1988 Toyota Pickup with a 22re, 4x4, regular cab, 5-speed manual. I was gonna post a video on HOW TO do it b/c JUST LIKE YOU I called a place and they said $50 bucks an hour and would take 4-6 hours to do this. SO that's $300 bucks to do this and I said F*CK that! I had only 60 dollars in the remote start. Anyone want a video? Msg me
I have a 2000 maxima and I know when i got my remote start installed they took a key and put it inside of the car because of the chip inside of that key...do you have any idea where I should look to find this key ?
yea its fine just make sure your car does not start in gear before attempting and if it does not then u just got to hook it up to the nutral safty switch
Hi great job you did on your Toyota. Here's my "cry". I have been searching and calling out for help in forums about my DIY car alarm install. Do you have time to spare?
Here's 1: How do I mount the Clifford 50.7x module horizontal or vertical? I already know where to locate it; not easily visible. Just the orientation of the module itself.
I have an 05 Nissan Xterra SE 4WD and this is the "guinea pig" for this DIY :)
05 nissan xterra has a second starter wire in order for the truck to start.. make sure its hooked up, you NEED a relay to do it. clifford units have NEGATIVE second starter output, DO NOT jump the 2 starter wires together
Hi,Great job,I was wodering If you could help.I have a 1997 buick century with pro start remote and when i remote start It the starter stays engaged too long and when the engine starts It runs for about 3 secounds and then shuts off right after It starts. Thanks
1997 buick century has passlock immobilizer. the security bypass module probably needs to be reset and reprogrammed. or its just bad and needs to be replaced
Can you please recomend a bypass module for a 08 civic SI. Also, I heard that some starter kits require a spare key to work. Can you give me some information about that and how can i avoid having a starter sysem without the spare key. thank you
Do you have any suggestions for a 2001 Volvo S60? I bought the Avital 4113L and just want to do the work myself because Car Toys is too expensive!!! Is there a step by step video on here? Thanks!
so looking at that itallian dinner, you think you still should have done the install? how did you hide that mess? i install these for a living and these types of installs are ALWAYS the ones comming back with horrible problems
If you truly do this for a living, then you ought to know that a custom install like this with only SOLDERED CONNECTIONS (no T-Taps or crimps) is not only very time-consuming & expensive, but it is VERY HIGH QUALITY! I don't ever plan on having problems with this install...that's why I did it myself...I wanted it DONE RIGHT. BTW, obviously I organized the Italian dinner prior to reassembly.
@si1entscorn Anyone with patience and a simple understanding of how a car runs/operates can easily install this. Im not trying to bash your profession, but as long as he soldered his connections he will have not 1 problem that he would have if you had done it . ALSO while im on a role, did you seriously want this guy to show how he hid "that mess"? He did good. It worked. You do it for a living, then you know how he hid the mess.
@momoxsparco oh yea your right yea the customer is always right "as long as he soldered huh not 1 PROBLEM HUH! REALLY WOW!!! what if he bundled that mess up and one wire hit metal and grounded out, since he did not cut to length what if it got caught in the steering or brake pedal!!!!!!! what about if that shit does not work in a month can he properly troubleshoot it! you might think you know more than a pro installer but you DONT i deal with your kind all the time!!!!!!!! noobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@jimg0007 The "mess" is hooked up the way it is to insure it works. he will clean it up later. And trouble shooting? Really? So i guess only a "pro" knows how to use a multimeter? I mean, because trouble shooting electronics is SOOO hard right? Your a mutt that gets overpaid for what you do. Sounds like someone is full of themselves.
@momoxsparco Who the fuck are you to tell me thats the way it "should" be hooked up. Yea for a stupid ass "do it yourselfer" yea its the ONLY fucking way you can hook it up cuz you lack the skills to do it RIGHT! Oh and all it takes it the knowledge of using a DMM and your automatically a troubleshooting GOD huh! I put dumbass like you in your place every day so learn something before you talk shit asshole!
@jimg0007 Answer to your question:"who the fuck are you"? I'm the guy that just finished running wires FROM SCRATCH in a car that took 1st place at NOPI. Scratch means connectors, tubing wires, sensors, a complete harness from scratch. Im the guy that has been hooking up wireing on a hardcoater for the past few months. Laying about a mile of conduit an running thousands of wires to switchboards as well as micro soldering those circuit boards. Im working on a multi millon $ machine. Your a joke.
@momoxsparco LOL! anyone who did all that bullshit you said would never say that 'this is the way it should be installed" you condone this i feel sorry for the car you worked on. Your full of fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
@jimg0007 What do i care? My car won NOPI. Your alarm system: Being installed by guys like this everyday. haha. I bet you buy a car and install the alarm system, then when your car starts overheating you scratch your head and bring it to a dealer. Worthless mutt.
@jimg0007 baaaahahaha im done here. You are on here every night, i work every night, if i have a day off i find something to make or work on... bough a house last week, painted my car with paint that you couldn't buy with 3 paychecks if you wanted too with a gun that you would need a year of disability to even think of holding. Keep being the tough man on youtube. it suits you.
good video but the price of $120 every year for the line is very expensive for a pager line !!! - I got the new Telstart DSS 900 -TA no fees for the line, got alarm and Key finder, you can use any telephone. go see at Telstart. CA
All you have to do is buy the alarm and any tools if you don't have them. you can buy these alarms for like 100$, when audio shops charge 400 - 800 dollars for install
Well, partly true...this Avital 5303 alarm system with remote start alone is well over $100...I paid $180...on the internet...+ the proximity sensor & immobolizer bypass = another $100.
@sl0wm03 i dont know what audio shops you're going to, 2 way alarms with remote start and all can run 400-800, that includes alarm and install.but it all depends on the brand. If you buy a DEI alarm ( viper, clifford, python, etc ) they include the install free with the purchase of the alarm because if it isnt professionally installed it will not only void the warranty, but void the insurance deductable they give if you're car is stolen if the car was armed.
@RF15T1 you said exactly what i said, 4 - 800. They got all the little gadgets too like the window roll up module, or the mp3 siren speaker, extra sensors. Whatever.
@RF15T1 anyone making claims on the supposed easy installation of an alarm/start is a complete moron. I have been installing almost 20 years and seen many installations. Less than 1% are professional and safe. Probably because of so many amateurs. Shops charge for a reason. In business we have something called profit. Without creating it we don't get paid and can't pay our personal bills. Installers do not make very much money.
so i see you got your stuff hooked up i had a question about the siren though i only have 9 volts running through the brown wire from the alarm brain do you know why this is???
Does the 9v still run the siren fine? If so, don't worry about it. If not...maybe an electrical issue with the vehicle...check it again...it may be slightly variable...also check the specs on what it should be according to your vehicle wiring schematics. good luck!
so basically what im asking you is now that you have bypassed the factory immobilizer would it still prevent the car from being started should someone from starting the car with a key that had the same cut in to the ignition. they key that they would use wouldn't be programed of course
good job on your install man well done. how ever i have a Question for you now that you have bypassed the OEM immobilizer so you can use the remote start does that mean now if you didn't have the remote and the alarm was off. and some one broke into your car and broke the ignition they could just turn it over?
i my personal opinion you shouldn't have the valet switch
at all if i get a car and it has a valet switch i would cut it out. my car alarm doesn't have one it wasn't made to have one at all it has a pin code override so you have to enter a pin using the ignition switch switch to bypass the alarm other then that you got to rewire it and its all black wires apart from the factory OEM wires it can be done but its not easy
If you get a quality installation on a full alarm system including proximity sensor & multiple blinking led locations (3) throughout the car w/remote start & immobolizer bypass (pricey)...& all the connections are SOLDERED NOT T-tapped or crimped...$400 brotha, check it out!
hey can u help me out, i have a viper alarm system installed in my mitsubishi eclipse, and i got a new remote transmitter. so the question is where can i find the valet button? how does it looks?
i know viper also recommends that the valet button be hidden because a theif can override the alarm. so it could be in the glove compartment, console, under the dash somewhere. but yea it will be black small and round like an eraser end. good luck.
Can you put a video up on the effectiveness of your proximity sensor? I want to mount mine in the same spot, and was wondering how effective it is.

techreviewer 2 years ago
All you have to do is buy the alarm and any tools if you don't have them. you can buy these alarms for like 100$, when audio shops charge 400 - 800 dollars for install

Well, partly true...this Avital 5303 alarm system with remote start alone is well over $100...I paid $180...on the internet...+ the proximity sensor & immobolizer bypass = another $100.
But the installation saves you alot!

@marketmakerii couldnt agree with you more.

This is gonna sound like a Mastercard commercial:
solder: $4
electrical tape: $3
4" zip ties: $5
extra wire: $6
wire strippers (special for opening up a wire's insulation without cutting the wire: Radio Shack): $14
That's it! I had the tools. Good luck man!

@99Paully123987 You shoulda added "mechanical intelligence" to that. I'm really scared to try this by myself.
How do find out what your car individually needs? I have no problem trying to figure this thing out--but I don't want to buy the wrong stuff.

Haha I love your reaction, I hope to get the same reaction you do after successfully installing my car alarm xD

so i see you got your stuff hooked up i had a question about the siren though i only have 9 volts running through the brown wire from the alarm brain do you know why this is???
manjyot818 2 years ago
Does the 9v still run the siren fine? If so, don't worry about it. If not...maybe an electrical issue with the vehicle...check it again...it may be slightly variable...also check the specs on what it should be according to your vehicle wiring schematics. good luck!

so basically what im asking you is now that you have bypassed the factory immobilizer would it still prevent the car from being started should someone from starting the car with a key that had the same cut in to the ignition. they key that they would use wouldn't be programed of course
Jackcc5 2 years ago
good job on your install man well done. how ever i have a Question for you now that you have bypassed the OEM immobilizer so you can use the remote start does that mean now if you didn't have the remote and the alarm was off. and some one broke into your car and broke the ignition they could just turn it over?
Jackcc5 2 years ago
i my personal opinion you shouldn't have the valet switch
at all if i get a car and it has a valet switch i would cut it out. my car alarm doesn't have one it wasn't made to have one at all it has a pin code override so you have to enter a pin using the ignition switch switch to bypass the alarm other then that you got to rewire it and its all black wires apart from the factory OEM wires it can be done but its not easy
Jackcc5 2 years ago
it doesnt cost 400 for alarm/rs installation. it cost anywhere from 75bucks to 200bucks, depend on cars.
don't shut off from your remote, it will go into timer mode.
good job on your installation.
profuse007 2 years ago
If you get a quality installation on a full alarm system including proximity sensor & multiple blinking led locations (3) throughout the car w/remote start & immobolizer bypass (pricey)...& all the connections are SOLDERED NOT T-tapped or crimped...$400 brotha, check it out!
99Paully123987 2 years ago
my valet button is black plastic, the size of a pencil eraser...probably located on your steering column or dash somewhere. Good luck!
99Paully123987 2 years ago
great job,..
hey can u help me out, i have a viper alarm system installed in my mitsubishi eclipse, and i got a new remote transmitter. so the question is where can i find the valet button? how does it looks?
thanks
umantube21 2 years ago
i know viper also recommends that the valet button be hidden because a theif can override the alarm. so it could be in the glove compartment, console, under the dash somewhere. but yea it will be black small and round like an eraser end. good luck.
